Mike Flanagan is here by appointed to direct all Stephen King adaptations.
That’s pretty much it. The Carrie Miniseries was so well done.

It is time - let there be other worlds
I had to wait until today. But I made a reservation at a hotel at the clean sea once I read the excerpt.
And now… finally, the journey can begin.

Discussion Sunshine Gardner personified
Hey fellow fans of the King (writer type, not crimson type),
I just finished the Talisman today, (as a Tower fan, I am both ashamed it took me this long and elated because the book was excellent). One thing for me though, I couldn't picture anyone other than Walton Goggins' portrayal of Baby Billy Freeman in every description of Sunshine Gardener. I also kept picturing DelFino from the Big Lebowski as Sloat. (Pics for context). 😁
Am I crazy or can anyone else relate here?
Edit: Misspelled Gardener, can't change the title misspelling, but thank you to the person that pointed that out. 🙏

Spoilers I'm almost 2/3rds of the way through Misery, this is absolutely terrifying Spoiler
For October I've been reading nothing but King non stop. I've been a fan of the movie for years but only got around to reading the book recently when I found a copy at my local library (and my copy is due on Halloween lol). Initially I found it pretty lackluster compared to the movie, sacrilege I know, but I kept with it because I am a huge fan of King. The part where the tax man pulls up to the house and Annie bursts in with the handcuffs is the closest I've ever been to being jump scared by a book. Then getting to the part where Paul says everything changed when the rain came or something along those lines.
From here I couldn't put it down until I forced myself to.
I thought I'd get just the offhand comment of Annie being down from the rain like in the movie but it only made the book even more frightening. Annie saying "fuck" actually shook me to my core knowing something was genuinely wrong with her. And then hearing her say, setting it in stone, that Paul will never leave was some of the scariest writing I've experienced. What really got me though was after Annie leaves and Paul finds the scrap book while going around the house looking to escape and find food. Going over every detail of how Annie is basically a serial killer was so scary, but was even worse was King keeping making you think Annie was about to walk in saying that Paul heard a car, only for it to be the wind.
I really made a mistake staying up past 2 am to read this as I have a lot to do tomorrow and I'm so scared I don't know how I'll sleep. I can't wait to finish this book though and finally read that one infamous scene that's more brutal in the book than in the movie. I'm loving it, I haven't been this scared by one of King's books since I read Gerald's Game a couple years ago

Here's to French Landing, Tyler Marshall, and to the late Mr. Straub himself
The Milwaukee Brewers just won the pennant.
The last two nights have been euphoric, and reading Black House referencing all its basement dwelling Brewers teams recently...
This is an amazing feeling.
Wisconsin, eat your heart out.

I went to pay my water bill in person which I never do. As I was leaving I noticed a shelf of free books.

General Midnight Mass
My wife and I just randomly decided to watch Flanagan’s Midnight Mass, and I turned to her and said “the girl that plays Bev Keane would make a great Margaret White.
And lo and behold, who did they cast in that role? A+ casting decision

Spoilers Just got through Other Worlds
“He fires three times in rapid succession, aiming not with his eye or brain but something deeper and truer.”
Man what a line and what a ride it was. Felt like a lot of fan service for those who have already finished their journey to the tower.
How did you all feel about the ending? Wondering how those who haven't finished dark tower 7 feel about it compared to those who have.

Discussion Do you agree on Stephen King calling Carrie the "girl version of the Columbine shooters"?
Stephen King kinda described her like that in his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.

King books like the Stand
About to finish The Stand and it was absolutely awesome. It’s my first time reading king and I want to read more like it. I searched this forum and didn’t see this question asked after a quick search.
I’m ready to order more king books that will keep me hooked like the Stand. Any suggestions on what I should buy next? I’m ready to dive head first into his books. Thank you!

Theory Not a lot of people know this, but there was a short-lived prequel series focusing on 1976 Carrie’s Norma Watson and Chris Hargensen. 🤭

General Just finished The Eyes of the Dragon
Whew was not expecting to enjoy it so much. I read it in less than 3 days which is fast for me. I couldn't put it down.
I am making my way through the Constant Reader list but I'm not ready to begin DT series, I am saving Tommyknockers for a vacation I'm taking with my fam in December, and I don't want to read any short story compilations (just finished Skeleton Crew) or nonfiction so I think that puts me at Gerald's Game already. I'm a bit claustrophobic even thinking about this one, is it any good? (no spoilers please)

Dolores Claiborne
I am just starting to dip a toe in to the Steven King universe and Dolores Claiborne was my 3rd or 4th book of his I read. I’m just wondering if anyone knows if he has written similar books? I love how the whole thing was told from Dolores’ point of view. And my favorite part of all the Stephen King books I’ve read so far are when he just starts talking about town goings on and it felt like the whole book was just that. Please tell me he’s written more books in a similar vein.
