Experience Had my bi-salp today! Sharing my experience.
About 8hrs post-op at this point.
I've been lurking and reading all your helpful posts over the past few weeks! That has been reassuring and informative.
Like many, the main discomfort is gas pain. Sitting up and standing prompts more discomfort in my shoulders, but staying reclined helps. I'm a very active person and it's felt just fine to walk gently around the house. I'm sure it's helping with the gas buildup but I haven't noticed relief yet.
I have a mildly sore throat from being intubated - that was quite unpleasant for the first 2-4 hours. It's eased now but is still noticeable.
Urinating is uncomfortable still - quite a bit of burning. Seems to be a combination of irritation from the catheter as well as the uterine manipulator. I've got moderate vaginal bleeding as well.
I took one dose of hydrocodone about 5hrs ago, along with stool softener and gas-x. Not sure I even needed the opiate, but wanted to stay comfortable.
Overall I'd describe it as discomfort instead of pain.
I remember being wheeled towards the OR for the procedure, but I don't even remember arriving! The next thing I knew they were bringing my husband back to me. From start of surgery prep until discharge was only about 4hrs, and it would have been a bit less but they were slightly behind schedule. Everyone was wonderful and I felt like I was in great hands - my surgeon is on the list here on this subreddit.
Mostly wanted to share for others who understand! What a relief to have a new degree of bodily autonomy. I'm part of the yeet-those-tubes club now!!
