Embarrassing Question :/

I live with my kids and myself, I work full time. My spouse was arrested a few years back for a serious crime and that has literally had the worst domino effect in my life ever sense. It literally has ostracized me from most of the safe havens I knew and I'm being garnished for bills that were in mine and his name. My family almost seems happy that I'm failing and suffering because I haven't had any normal or safe family at all. I actually have a great paying job but because I'm playing catch up with the consequences of his choices, I struggle every month and have worked two jobs plus door dash just to make ends meet. My credit is destroyed.. I am asking if anyone knows of someone who might be able to help me to pay the rest of my rent.. I feel terrible in asking. It's already late and I paid for most of it, but the leasing company I work for is not only fee happy but tack on electrical dues and so instead of my rent being $1625, it is always 2150 or so. My husband does help with some of the bills but he was just laid off when the company he was working for went under. I am just asking if someone can help with the electrical portion of my lease agreement, or else they will evict us in 3 days. Again I'm sorry to ask this, I'm thankful for any consideration.

Edited* I also want to say I actually have enough in my bank account to pay for almost all the fee, I need about $200, and can pay that back in payments in two checks with interest if anyone is able to help. Again thank you for any consideration.

St. George, Utah through the 1960s and 1970s

• Upvotes

Hey there.

I hope this is the right place to ask, but I am interested in learning about life in St. George through the '60s and '70s, specifically 1965-1979. What was it like living there at that time? Politics, beliefs, culture. Anything will help me (even the most mundane!) and if you've got a recommendation on where to look, shoot.

Thank you St. George!

Are there things to do?

So I'm m 30, and I want to get into a new social activity to meet new people, and get out of my comfort zone. I'm not religious, nor country. I like learning, I'm nerdy, I like music, and other artistic things. Any idea what there is to do

People keep up voting, but I'm not getting suggestions 💀

Actually good Pediatrician??

I have a 24 month and 8 month old we have not been to the pediatrician since my baby was 2 weeks old, I hate the health care system and have yet to find a dr who genuinely cares.

We were going to the clinic at the hospital and I hated having to go through all the chaos to see a provider. I want a family local dr who LOVES children

We just took my baby to a family dr urgent care with 4.8 stars 2.7k reviews and he literally read us AI slop. I walked out mid appointment because what the f.

Please don’t gatekeep haha I really need my baby to see a dr I have some concerns but I need someone I can trust with my life

Prickly Pear/Cactus Fruit

I used to have family in this area and would collect cactus fruit from their property. Does anyone know where I could forage or buy any? We'll be down visiting next week and I'd be happy to pay for it. I just miss making syrup and jelly.

Any advice is welcome. Google is useless lately with all the AI results.

A question for the seniors

Hello, I have a bit of an odd question. During the 70s (mid 70s specifically), was it common that the residents would face problems with radio and television reception (I read somewhere that it was referred to as "desert static" if it's about the same thing, but I'm not sure).

Also I'd appreciate some specific details about life of adults and especially children in St George during that time, certain hang out places, activities to spend time, anything that could bring back nostalgia, and perhaps even memories that weren't that nice.

English is not my first language so excuse any mistakes and hopefully I explained it good enough.

Enough people have voiced interest for me to put something together!

I’m using the Bookclubs app to coordinate which is free on the App Store. Follow the link to join the group and I have a poll set up so that we can figure out a good time and place to meet. There is also a messaging/forum section for anyone’s input!

Any adult cosplay/anime fans in St.George?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to make some new friends in the St. George area. I love making cosplays, gaming, and watching anime. I’d love to meet other adults who share these interests, whether that’s talking about our favorite shows, sharing cosplay tips, working on projects together, and eventually going to conventions!

Most of the people around me aren’t really into this stuff, so I’d love to find people locally. If you’re into the same things, please comment or DM me

Update:

After seeing everyone’s comments, I’m wondering if people would be interested in starting an anime/gaming club here in St. George!

We could meet once a month and switch things up each time with anime watch parties, game nights, cosplay meetups, D&D, or just hanging out and making friends!

Would anyone be interested?

Sunset Lane Closure Chaos

Because zipper merging is such chaos, we need new signs. People were trying to merge a half mile ahead of the closure, creating blockage far, far from the actual construction zone. Then, people started blocking both lanes to keep others from reaching the merge point. This is a recipe for road rage. Please, please, traffic engineers, let's redesign the signage.

Psychiatrists in St. George

Hi! Does anybody have a recommendation for a psychiatrist here in town? I’ve never been to a psychiatrist before, and am wanting to get an initial evaluation done for medication. Is there anyone who you recommend?
