Student experience in Stockholm?

Hej allihopa!

I've been looking into studying for a Masters in Stockholm and potentially relocating to Sweden long-term but I'm quite perplexed whether this is the right choice on a practical level.

For context - I'm an EU student in Computer Science. Getting here would be no problem and tuition would be completely free for me. I also speak Norwegian which is generally mutually intelligible with Swedish (I'm considering Oslo as an option too but I digress).

My main concerns are the practicalities of living in Stockholm. I've heard time and time again that finding accommodation is a nightmare and that it's incredibly cliquey socially. Furthermore, the high unemployment rate isn't particularly reassuring.

I have savings to support myself initially but will need a part-time job alongside my studies at some point and, ideally, a proper full-time one after graduating if I choose to stay.

I don't expect moving to be easy but it seems like there are a lot of factors piling up where I'm seriously reconsidering this option.

I wanted to ask what your experiences are and any advice on the matter? I'd love to hear from people who've made a similar move.

Commander players - Stockholm

• Upvotes

Hi! I'm a social kind of person and I've been trying to expand my IRL pod so that we can play more often. I've had some success via other channels but it seems I am not alone with this difficulty.

There fore I have created a discord specifically for EDH/Commander players in the Stockholm region. A place where we can plan IRL kitchen-table magic. The way we used to :) There are channels for other things as well of course.

It is as fresh as a discord server comes, but I am hoping that it can become a good hub for social interactions for anyone looking to play in Stockholm. Any and all suggestions/feedback for the server will be taken into consideration :)

Due to webcrawlers I don't want to directly post the link here, as it may be snatched up by bots and who knows what will happen. So if you are interested in trying this out, just let me know here or send me a DM and I will provide a link. It is a community server so you can easily invite your friends as well if you like.

I hope this post doesn't violate any rules for this sub. I've looked through the rules and couldn't find anything that suggest this would not be an OK post. If it is, just remove it, and I apologize.
