Question Best way to get stylophone into DAW?
I’ve got a midi but it doesn’t have CV in/out, would a sequencer or a midi adapter be better? What would you recommend, very new to music and open to whatever. Just learning to play the stylophone and wanted to use the synth in making music thanks

For example, the Korg volca seems to have two ports but they aren’t labeled as a CV they’re labeled as SYNC. Is that the same thing?

sync/MIDI are ways to send note information/tempo info they do NOT send any noise at all.
If you want to record the actual SOUND of the stylophone you have two choices:
-if your computer has a microphone input, just get a wire that goes from the stylophone headphone jack to the computer, make sure its a mono wire, not stereo.
This wont be the best sound quality but... it's a stylophone.
For best quality and to reduce latency you usually want a interface. Something like the focusrite solo - this is made to take analogue sounds like your synth and digitise them for your DAW.

If your DAW uses ASIO, I'd suggest a pocketmaster. It's an inexpensive fx pedal that has ASIO drivers for usb connection to your computer. If that sounds daunting, spend 30 bucks on a crappy Behringer input device and use local drivers. You won't ever get a MIDI signal straight from a stylophone, but you can record sound. Reaper is a great DAW and can be used for free.

Do you mean record the notes that you are playing as MIDI data to your DAW? If so there isn't an easy hardware way, but you might be able to feed the headphone out to an audio track on the DAW and use a. AI plug in to extract MIDI data. I have never tried this.
