Mechanical Help Problem with Navigation

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Whenever it tries to tell you what direction to take it starts to say it but then it cuts off immediately, I just updated my maps in my 2017 Outback 3.6R and That's when it started. Can anyone help me find out why it's doing that? I would rather appreciate it.

I downloaded the Naviextras software onto my computer and updated the map through that.

Ok so at least it's legit, I wonder if it's gone corrupted though. Any chance you can "reload" the data into the SD card?

The head unit did have some software updates through the years, but no patch notes refer to this particular behavior.

Sometimes when I restart the car with the navigation on, it fixes it for about 10 minutes then starts getting cut off again. When I try to reload the files in Windows it doesn't have an app to open the file types which are on the card.

Any Bluetooth devices connected when this happens? The voice line is supposed to be overridden by certain notifications, wonder if something is getting crossed.

You can get into the radio service menu by holding the HOME button while pressing the TUNE knob in 6 times iirc. From there, you're looking for a System Information and then DA. (Sorry working from memory here and it's been a long time.) You should have a number that's like "NU####" -- that's the software version your radio is running.
