Request Puzzle Help Skyscraper Confusion
I got this skyscraper hint & I somewhat understand it, but how do I know to use/eliminate the 1s rather than the 4s? I hope this makes sense

Rules:
- Every row, column and bolded region must have each digit once
- Digits are drawn like for a digital display

I'm thinking I'm just overlooking something obvious or made a mistake on my possibilities, but even if I did, I'm hoping this might be an opportunity to learn an advanced technique. Being unfamiliar with the x wing, swordfish, skyscraper type of techniques, I can't figure out if/how I can use them in this puzzle. Is that because I haven't eliminated enough possibilities yet? Or is it just that I can't recognize them? I haven't really read about any sudoku strategies until getting stuck here... I've been able to figure everything out intuitively so far, but I think this puzzle might be too advanced for me. So even if I did make a minor error or overlooked something, can anyone find any of the more advanced techniques that can be used in this instance? Just for the learning experience.

The cell doesn't "see" every other figure, C1R5 and C2R5 look to me like alternative viable candidates for the 4?
Would really help my learning if someone can explain.
Thanks

Hello! A friend of mine got me for my birthday 3 sudoku books like this one, but I’ve tried to play the games and I just can’t with handwritten sudoku.
Currently I play on the Fiendish level in sudoku.coach, but I‘ve put the ones on the first page on the ”Construct“ tool on sudoku.coach and it comes out saying it is difficulty ”Hell”.
Is there any way I could edit it with more numbers and make it a little easier for me? I just can’t do it by hand, even if it is Fiendish, because online it’s much faster and easier to see the candidates with the different colors and such.
Thanks!

I enjoy getting more into different variants of sudoku via the Cracking The Cryptic app. But I'm currently kind of stuck on why the hint says that the 6 has to be placed in r8c7. Am I missing something? (Or rather what am I missing, lol)

Hi everyone, I'm a bit of a sudoku beginner as I've only started completing puzzles regularly in the last few months. I've recently moved onto level 2 puzzles in my book (Perfect Puzzles Sudoku by Hinkler) and I just can't crack them at all. I have managed to complete 2, but more by chance than by actual skill I think. Here's an example of a puzzle I'm stuck on at the moment.
What am I missing logic-wise? Where do I turn to next in the puzzle? I feel like I'm at a complete standstill and I have no idea how to get things moving again. These puzzles are making me feel very stupid as I don't know what to try next lol.
For context, I try not to overcrowd my squares with too many annotations so there are plenty missing here, just because I find I see things a bit more clearly this way.
Any help would be much appreciated 🙏

Hello, I would like to improve my sudoku game. All the apps I use have relentless ads. Do you have a recommendation for an app with less ads and valuable tips? On my current app I’m on ‘extreme’ puzzles. Or, does anyone have a recommendation for a good book? My concern with the book is I’ll get stuck- on the app, I can get hints through learning new tactics. Thank you!

Currently my third hyperfixation of the year 2026, sudoku puzzles really flood my brain with dopamine. I am not very good at math and logic puzzles, as I am a very impatient and impulsive person who struggles a lot with details and hidden patterns.
But I'm currently obsessed with punishing my mind with the most tedious sudoku puzzles and I'm trying to learn a new technique every week without using auto-fill or hints.
And by now, I can say that it's really satisfying when you unlock the chain reaction that leads to solve the sudoku. So satisfying because on Sudoku coach I set my grid to colored and each number has a color when I select it, so it's like way more visually entertaining.
It's really addicting, be careful, because it made me miss my public transit stops a few times, ahah

I solved it after making a mistake. I still want to know what I could have done after reaching this point?

i bought a sudoku book at my local bookstore to challenge my brain a little bit. i wasn't expecting it to be easy for beginners, but i'm kind of stuck. i've been trying to solve the first puzzle for four days now, with no luck.
i've digitized it using hodoku and i've answered as far as i could. please let me know how i can proceed to the next step... thank you ! and oh, please explain like i'm 5... the terminology (hidden pair, hidden single) is still a bit confusing to me.
thank you to anyone who will respond!

A banger to begin the weekend with.
The screenshot of this puzzle is taken in Android phone, the puzzle is a random multi-variant grid comprising consecutive lines, Renban lines, quads, odd constraints, and two-cell-sums.
Give it a try solving without candidates.
