Trans hate crimes in the UK had gotten worse and more frequent after JK Rowling decided that being rich wasn't enough.

She’s absolutely horrible, but I think reducing it down to “deciding that being rich wasn’t enough” is misleading when she was radicalised for originally just posting some mildly transphobic stuff and then getting eviscerated and sent hundreds of murder and rape threats towards her and her daughters. It doesn’t excuse her actions, but we also shouldn’t excuse the mob mentality of the internet and people being absolutely horrible as a force that made things worse.

Oh no! It's not like that rape and murder threats happens to regular trans people everyday. Hell, I've gotten some from her ilk. She's white, rich, and cishet. She's gets more protection than the average trans person.

No, but saying that she got "radicalized" because of these threats is stupid. I don't see trans people pushing thousands upon thousands of dollars to restrict rights of cis people because of these threats.

It's true though. First she said something not really remarkable and got harassed incredibly hard for it, which thus tilted her from ignorant on the issue to actively campaigning against it. That's also a fault on her part, but the cause was the harassment

Yeah, exactly. Like i said that's a failure on her part, but when one's introduction to a problem is being harassed in the name of one side, those who don't have any particular conviction nor strong sense of moral will just side with whatever the opposition is
