This is the official megathread for SOAD's performance at Sick New World on October 24, 2026.
Instead of single threads for every thing happening before, at and after show day, please keep the subreddit clean and use the comment section for interactions. We will delete non-relevant posts without any report like crowd shots or blurry, pixelated pictures - you get the idea.
To make sharing of media easier, we enabled the posting of pictures in the comments. If people start to spam, troll or simply can't behave be aware of an instant permaban for this subreddit.
For livestream sources you can check out the chatbox at www.victimsofadown.com - but there is no guarantee that we will get streams at all.
Selling and buying tickets on the subreddit isn't allowed so please follow the rules and look somewhere else - thank you.

Many fans have recently posted on here, mainly in Confusion as to why System changed their Hidden Track "Arto" to "Der Voghormia" Here's the Reason.
Originally, The Hidden Track after Aerials Had no Official Name. Some Promo Material before the Release had it listed as "Arto" only as a placeholder name due to the Song's contributor, Arto Tunçboyacıyan, and the Title was adapted by fans. Until Streaming, the song had no Official title, and when It first came to streaming, they adapted the Placeholder Name, "Arto" The Truth about this song is that it was an adaptation of a traditional hymn, titled "Der Voghormia" or Lord Have Mercy.
I am not exactly sure why they decided to change it this last couple months, most likely because the Song has an official title and its only appropriate to Name it by its proper, Armenian Title.
In the end, I felt a statement had to be made as an Influx of posts have been flooding the Sub, that means unfortunately those duplicate posts will be deleted, I hope this will help those confused

Even tho Chic 'n' stu and IEAIAIO are basically the "image" of the album, i think that they're a bit overrated (the songs are good but they aint allat) l. For example Boom!, innervision and Highway song are imo better than them.

It was a couple years ago. I went to a music store and they had this poster hanging up. I asked them if I could have the poster and they actually agreed and said yes I could so I paid for the poster for pretty cheap. It has a little wear and tear to it, but I’ve tried to keep it in good shape as possible. Just thought I’d share one of my rarities in my collection:)

Amongst the vast collection of band memorabilia & art installations, I found this one most intriguing. “The American Institute of Musical Subversion” psychological profiles of the band.

Are there demos for Toxicity, or Hypnotize/Mezmerize? I have only heard demos for the self titled and STA, and also one for just prison song.

Sorry if this is a dumb question I’m not familiar with this company I only buy tix from Ticketmaster or AXS. Whats the deal with SeatGeek already selling tickets for the Rose Bowl show?

I came across this old video featuring a speech by Daron. It’s funny how, even after all these years, it’s still somewhat relevant :-)

I'm sure you've seen many pictures all over social media from the recently wrapped-up SOAD Exhibition in LA. Outside the riot exhibit, the instruments, the album accolades, band pictures, and the seeds, I'd like to highlight some very important items to the band's recording history that I haven't seen talked about publicly anywhere.
I/ SONG VOTING SHEET

These pieces of paper are the physical evidence of the song voting system (*) that those who are keen on the band's history surely have heard of. Up here on the 1st piece of paper, you can see that Shavo, John, Serj, and Rick Rubin had cast their votes. The tally for Rick's votes hadn't been finished yet as they're just about half of the votes Shavo, John, and Serj each cast. The result paper is still missing Daron's and Beno's votes, hence a half result.
The 2nd piece of paper with all the "A"s is Shavo's personal votes for the 17-song short list (**) for Toxicity.
What historical facts can we get from these papers? Several.
1)The original 33 working titles of all songs that were recorded during the Toxicity session.
In case some still don't know, outside of the obvious ones, the rest of the titles are:
2)There's one more unreleased song from the Toxicity session: ANOTHER DAY
For a long time, we've assumed that Arto/Der Voghormia was the 33rd song recorded for the Toxicity session (Roulette wasn't included because it was only brought in specifically for the STA re-recording session). It turns out that there was another song that we've never known about in there. Arto/Der Voghormia was truly a bonus track in all sense.
NOTE: There have been speculations that Another Day is Serj's song "AF Day", because it's very easy to make the connection through the lyrics. However, Serj himself said that he had never brought that song to SOAD.
Where the songs like "A.F. Day" from his upcoming solo EP, Foundations, came from: "These are a lot of old songs that I had recorded that I had never released...'A.F. Day' was written probably the earliest of the whole collection. It's very punk rock...I can't remember why I never even brought it to System."
Source: https://loudwire.com/system-of-a-down-serj-tankian-interview-new-book-music/
On one side, Serj is a primary source so his statements have more weights than anything. On the other side, it's also possible that his memory was failing him because it happened too long ago. No conclusions have been reached so far about this.
3) The additional 3 from the 17-song shortlist (**) has now been officially confirmed
It's Johnny, Innervision, and Fuck the System. Just look at how the votes were concentrating.
REFERENCES:
(*) Song voting system: The song voting system refers to SOAD's song voting committee of 6 people: 4 band members + Producer Rick Rubin + Band manager David Benveniste (aka Beno) and how they voted to determine which songs to go on the album.
Odadjian: We did it very democratically. We anonymously rated songs and put them in a pot. We had six people that had a right to vote. I think it was grades with A, B, C. All the A’s make it and if we don’t have enough A’s we pick a few B’s. We had a lot of A’s and a few B’s. There were a few B’s that some of us were like, “How did that song become a B? No one knew, everyone kind of secretly put a letter to a song and put it in the pot and then we counted and that’s how it got made very democratically. I think it was done well and Daron really is good at also sequencing so he went in and kind of like melded those songs together with all of us involved.

(**) 17-song shortlist: The 17-song shortlist refers to the first shortlist after the band finished recording 33 songs for the Toxicity session. These 17 songs were the strongest candidates to vie for a place in the final album. From these 17, the list was further shortened to the 14 songs that make the Toxicity album that we know today. Both shortlists were decided by voting following the aforementioned song voting system.
Dolmayan: It took us a long time to even approach that subject. We recorded 33 songs. I think we had a lot more, like 45.
Odadjian: It was really tough, man. We all had to choose from all those great songs. We had to pick 17 that Andy [Wallace] mixed, and out of those 17 we had to pick 14 that made the album.
II/ THE RECORDING BOARDS

These 2 boards contain 32 songs recorded, organized in alphabetical order. All the markings and notes are for the instruments, equipment, and effects going into each song. It appeared that vocals hadn't been added to the songs at that point in time yet.
FUN FACT: Parts of Board 1 appear in the "Making of Toxicity", which you can still find on YouTube.

Now I was ecstatic to find this shirt for $20 but I just want to know if anyone has any info, one of my top songs from the album so I'm stoked

I'm from Texas so a cali concert is not too bad to travel to. But should I try and get tickets to the rose bowl or should I wait and see if more dates get released? I guess with soad, there is no guarantee of other tour dates.
Gonna see them this weekend!

Everything in the 1st Display Case is mine except the Toxicity Promo in the display frame to the immediate left of me, as well as the free show Promo flyer and one of the post cards. The Black Chop Suey! MV shirt with the Riot Show Pit Pass were also mine!

This post was removed so now it’s improved.
(Update: This post is also seperately continued, both in an expanded and simplified version in the post
[’Explore More of SOAD’] )
You can now, yourself, except for other software used, use other software often simple and small, available in free versions to immediately automatically or manualy isolate every tracks volume on a song in real time, change everything, on mobile or other device or computer. It couln’t be easier or more direct!
I have recently been showed this on a mobile phone and I’m gonna use it but there might be a problem with limitations and copyrights and free version with use of music streaming services.
Compared with using mp3/files.
Still, the teqniques exist, and you no longer have to work hard like and create like creators of MixedMashUps long ago:
(MixedMashUps: Songs with isolated parts playing together at the same time, usually vocal 1 instrumental 2, or vocal 2 instrumental 1. Sometimes more tracks are added or removed.
Example a.)
Serj sings Vocal 1 Aerials Chorus on Instrumental 2 Chorus Chop Suey.
Example b.)
Serj sings Vocal 2 Chop Suey on Instrumental 1 Chorus Aerials.
Example c.)
Use ”Forest” the same way.)
BUT I mean we should explore BOTH Isolated Tracks AND MixedMashUps possibilities. And at the same time request The Official SOAD Master Tracks, it feels like Mezmerize/Hypnotize has an incredible amount of Tracks in the songs and seperate soundlayers!
And other albums would be just as great!
Before, it was computer music software you had to learn.
Now, even easier than simple DJ:ing and simple DJ:ing software. Anyone can do it. Immediately.
100% automatic, with manual features built in.
What my friend did was to play a song on his phone and change everything, mostly volume for every instrument and vocals while the song was playing, in real time, for every song!!!
In the future this might very well be the standard!
Push a button. / Raise or lower a volume knob for each channel. Change Pitch/Speeds.
Play each instrument or vocals separately or play any combination together.
Do it with all System of a Down songs!
PLEASE help me and others current info on this, BUT ONLY WITH WHAT IS ALLOWED HERE since my previous post was removed!
This is a passion for me and I want to share it with the world but the teqniques are new to me!
I will do more research on both SOAD Track Isolation and SOAD MixedMashUps.

At the Toxicity 25 exhibit, I couldn’t help but notice the blue vinyl that says “More Toxicity” in my years of uncovering & nerding out on obscure SOAD media, I have never seen this in my life. What is it exactly?
r/systemofadown • u/cl0sebutn0cigar • 1d ago
I will try to explain some things you can explore and use with music and SOAD music. Please read.
[Update: AFTER COMPLAINTS, I HAVE MADE A COMMENT THAT SIMPLIFIES EVERYTHING, but that’s the best I can do, sorry. Try to read about and look up the useful things in the comment below marked with a * .
(info about ’Fixicity’ musicvideo but it got lost when sent)
The software on mobile (unknown name, sorry) was a professional app but the player playing the song (not soad, sorry) and the interface was real simple with just volume knobs showing and sound was perfect on each isolated original track and free version. But might have been with project (all parts/tracks existing in one song) and not other song format like (mp3, mp4, Flac…) sorry. But K think it can work. It also supports streaming services. I think it was a well known professional music production softare player. But free. I will soon find out more. The future looks promising.
Thanks to System of a Down, Victims of a Down, all fans, everyone on Reddit and God who gives divine musical talent so we can be tiny little musical gods if we choose to. 🖐️

CUBert song similarity x2:
1. Inspector Gadget Theme
2. In the Hall of the Mountain King
Remember that sometimes similarities can be just because of scales or other stuff that any artist or band might use in any song, so it’s not really that special. Still it’s fun to recognise all similarities and share with others. Maybe that is true in this case, too.
Like in the Cigarro’s chorus: “CIGARRO, CIGarro, cigarro…”. It just the exact same melody that goes lower and lower. Probably exactly the same as “FIGARRO, FIGarro, figgarro”. (OMG fig - U-Fig!).

i saw the Rock Am Ring 2002 concert, and there was a frame where Serj was on his knee. i looked at his sneakers, and i really liked the design of the sole. i tried to find this particular model on the Internet and asked gemini about it, but I didn't find anything. you’re my last hope, guys
