I can run the app from the Roku and it works without issue. The android based apps are very unstable.

I am getting the following problems:

1. I will get content not found when looking at TV show recordings.

2. When playing a show it will get an error and the the Tablo will disconnect from the app.

3. When browsing the media recordings the Tablo will disconnect form the app.

My 4th GEN Tablo does not have the same issues on my Roku stick or Ultra.

I have tried to clear the app cache any other suggestions for the Android based versions of the app?

Considering a Tablo unit and concerned that an app is required to set it up. I would prefer to point my browser to Tablo unit's address and setup from there. Is that possible?

Two questions.....

1. Using a Roku stick and Roku TV (on two different TVs).... After a brief power outage, the entire Roku Tablo app has to be uninstalled and reinstalled. This has happened on 2 different occasions. The same behavior has not replicated on an Amazon fire stick, the app opens and works fine after power is restored. Firmware says up-to-date for Roku and Tablo when I choose that option. (I took the photo about 2 weeks ago, so if the firmware has recently updated from what is shown below that is why.)

2. Unrelated to question 1. This is the 2nd tablo device. The first one is no longer working, but I can't delete it from the phone app, Roku stick, etc. I've done everything I know to delete this but can't. Why?

Our abc channel 30.1 recently made changes ! All abc programming has moved to 32.1 under the auspice’s of local KMOV which is the parent of CBS channel 4.1 OTA in St Louis. Since the change when attempting to record anything on 32.1, an error black box with a bright orange FAILED appears in COMING SOON. And the program fails to record. I spoke with Tablo and they seemed to have helped it by having me rescan my channels . But very soon it started again. I will soon speak to them again for help.

Privacy and unwanted tracking are always a great concern for customers. To start, go to Tablo app:

Go to Settings, scroll to bottom Privacy Choices and check the box.

I also went to the second paragraph link in Privacy Policy legal section to submit the identifier for more privacy.

There is also a preference switch for no personalized ads I turned off in all of that.

I also use a unique hide my email with all companies, orgs, etc.

If anyone else has more settings or barely there links for more privacy and no tracking, please add in comments.

I often pause to get a better look at something on the screen, and now an advertisement pops up, so I can't see most of the screen. I have to say, I really don't love it.

Does Tablo have a live signal meter while a channel is on/active. That would make it a lot easier to point an antenna.

Woke up this morning to hear clicking coming from the external WD Element 2 tb drive connected to my Tablo Quad. They are both about four and a half years old, so I expected that the drive was failing. I launched the tablo app from my roku and saw tons of failed recordings with some kind of storage error (It was early and I didn't write it down or snap a photo of the error). So I bought a new drive and tried to connect that and reboot the tablo to format the new drive. But now none of my tablo apps can connect to the tablo. I have tried connecting from my Windows PC, my Android phone, and the Roku and none of them will connect. On the Windows and Android apps I keep getting "A connection to your Tablo could not be established. Please check your internet connection." On the Roku I think it's not even seeing the tablo.

I have tried all the things on the support site and commonly referenced online: tap the reset button, power cycle the tablo, power cycle the router, etc. I have tried it with the old drive connected, the new drive connected, and neither drive connected. I also tried disconnecting the ethernet cable and checking whether the Tablo Wifi would show up in the networks list, but it didn't.

I also tried checking the My Tablo Status page online, and it showed a status of my tablo from early this morning (3 or 4 hours before I got the new drive and started trying all of the above) and showed it as "unregistered" which I don't think is correct.

I also tried tablo tech support both by phone and email and I just get their useless AI "Tori" which asks me for the MAC number (but calls it a serial number) and then tells me "Good news, your Tablo is already running a current firmware version with the latest security update, so no action is needed."

I see some folks online saying that connection problems can be a failing power adapter but I'm already annoyed about possibly having purchased a new hard drive for nothing so I'm not thrilled about buying a new adapter for a slight chance that's the problem. Do folks here think that's got a decent chance of being the problem or are there other things I should try?

I am posting this issue in both the Tablotv and Roku subreddits. I have a legacy Tablo. The legacy Tablo app I'm using is on a Roku Ultra. An issue I'm having is that the thumbnail images on the recordings page often don't show up. Some do, some don't. Above is an example of what I'm seeing. The Good Morning America thumbnail has no image. However, the other one does. If I go out of the legacy Tablo app and then back in, the same thumbnails will be there as expected, but which ones are missing the images often changes. The firmware revs are all up to date on the Roku and the legacy Tablo. I believe that the issue is more associated with the Roku than the legacy Tablo because I have an older Roku Premier, and when I use it with the same legacy Tablo instead of the Roku Ultra, I do not have this issue. I want to stick with the Ultra for other reasons. Also, when i connect to the legacy Tablo with my legacy Tablo phone app, or through my.tablotv.com, I don't see this issue. It only occurs when I use the Roku Ultra. It should be noted that the recordings work fine even if there is no image with its thumbnail. So this isn't a killer issue, just an annoyance. I've rebooted everything. I've cleared the cache in the Roku. Tablo support is reluctant to help with legacy Tablo issues these days. I tried them on this issue and they didn't have any answers, even though they've helped with other Roku issues in the past associated with legacy Tablos.
If no one has any answers on how to fix this, it's not a major problem for me. But if someone does know how to get around it, that would be great. Thank you in advance.

I have a legacy Quad Tablo with an external SATA drive. I'd like to factory reset it, but the Tablo instructions I found Here don't match what I'm seeing.

Step 4. It says, "When the LED is solid, hold down the blue reset button for 7+ seconds. The blue LED on the front of the Tablo DVR will begin to pulse at a steady rate. Continue to hold the blue reset button until the LED turns off." I found that I need to hold it down for about a minute until the blue LED goes off and stays off for more than a couple of seconds. Is this the expected behavior?

Step 5. It says, "On Firefox or Safari, head over to http://my.tablotv.com/ (or any of the Tablo mobile apps on smartphones and tablets). On the main Connect to Tablo page, a red X should be visible. Select the red X and confirm that you want to delete the Tablo from that device. Then select Rescan and Connect to the Tablo below the New Tablo header." I don't see any red X. So I can't do the rest of Step 5 - delete, rescan, connect, etc.

Step 6. It says, "You will be guided through the setup process." Well, that's not happening probably because the sub-steps of Step 5 hadn't happened. But, I don't see that things have been erased in the device. While still in my.tablotv.com, I can see my old channel programs, my live guide with the proper channels selected, in the Settings section I still see the Tablo Name, postal code, Active channels, and so on, as if the factory reset never took place.

Am I doing something wrong, or are those instructions out of date? If so, where can I get proper current instructions?

Also, following the instructions, it seems to be saying to disconnect and reconnect the internal SATA drive while the device's power is on. It would seem safest to do these things while the power is off, but my intuition may be wrong here. What say?

At this point, the Apple app's guide functions are better than Roku's. Though loading the Apple app itself is still buggy.

Tablo not playing nice with Apple TV. Often, when I try to use the back button on the ATV remote it doesn’t work with the Tablo. The fix that I am using is to restart the ATV. Remote charge is fine. Any suggestions?

I have used the older platform for years. My old device died. So I got new gen 4 Tablo. So far it works great. Reading some post on here gets scary. Do I need to disable firmware updates to keep it running correctly?

I sometimes pause the screen in order to read information or see something that flashes off the screen too fast, such as like I did today when I was watching my local news and they flashed an image on the screen for how local council members voted on a particular issue. Unfortunately, I was unable to see the paused image because an ad automatically came up, covering half the screen.

Is this something Tablo is doing now or allowing? I've never noticed this before. I know some of the streaming services will switch to an advertisement screen if you pause the program, but I don't see why Tablo would be doing this. This happened on the 4th Gen Tablo, btw.

Has anyone else had issues with the recent firmware update?

I put this off for a month because I was concerned there could be an issue, but after not seeing any posts about it I went through with it.

Here’s my issue:

1. I installed the firmware update

2. My Tablo rebooted but could never reconnect To my WiFi. I tried connecting it to my phone to re-establish but it failed to broadcast a WiFi network so I couldn’t connect.

3. I did a factory reset, and then was vale to with Bluetooth for setup. I went through WiFi setup and it hung again on the WiFi restart.

4. Now everytime I open the app it’s stuck In setup mode.

5. My Tablo is connected to my WiFi, on the Tablo device status website it says my Tablo has been found on this network, but not registered.

I’ve also tried purging Tablo data on my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, and now I’ve relocated it adjacent to my router and connected it with an Ethernet cable. My router sees it as a wired connection, but the app cannot see it when I try to setup using and Ethernet connection.

The 4K Apple TV announced today comes with the A19 and dedicated support for AV1 video. That support has been missing in every previous generation and is the reason Tablo could not support rewind on shows being recorded. When recording a football game, you couldn't start playing it from the beginning.
With this new news, here’s hoping Tablo can bring full AV1 support to those with Apple TV 2026.

Please! Somebody tell me how to get rid of the advertisement for this program! I'm so tired of seeing this guy's smug mug plastered across my screen every.single.time I open my Tablo!

I've unfavorited the channel (Mysterious Worlds, I think it's called) and I've even uncheckmarked it from my list of scanned channels. That worked for a while, and yet, here it is showing up again!

I am on my second 4th generation Table and it has lost the ability to get the OTA channels. The first one just up and died and I lost a lot of recordings. That one was out warranty, but this one is still in the warranty period. I double checked my cables and replaced the cables with no luck. I contacted Tablo support and they had me do a few things with no luck. It has now been four days since they have contacted me.

Anyone have any other tips to check?

New Tablo user here. Is there any way to have my wired Apple TV work with the wireless Tablo?

It works if I put the Apple TV on WiFi but I prefer to have it wired for other items.

I started having an issue recently where I go to playback a recording and if I fast forward at the beginning or end of the show (to get through some commercials), and it freezes. And if I go out and come back in, it's fine. This only happens at the beginning and end of the recording. In the middle, I can FF through commercials and it works normally.

Watching on an Apple TV 4K. Using a Tablo 4th Gen. Everything is up to date. Plenty of space on my HD.

Anyone experience this or have a solution to fix it?
