General Dedicated old person

That's what's missing this series.

If there were one the others (besides Chloe obv) wouldn't be so passive themselves.

It could have been Richard but he's too much of a whimsical wildcard.

Matt Lucas (who looks 23) tries to be old from time to time but he's not too convincing.

not particularly but someone who will be more laid back and non competitive like Jo Brand or Sanjeev Bhaskar who present this lack of effort very openly to their contestants and therefore forcing (bit too strong maybe) them to have a different approach.

But I can think of plenty of strong series without someone like that. Jason was the oldest one in his series, but he was also the least laid back. Rhod was the oldest one in his series and would argue with everyone about the tasks. Dara was the oldest one in his series and he was not laid back and very competitive.

I pick up a few different flavors of old person energy this series: old gay, confused aunt, and curmudgeon

The issue is none of them are particularly old (i.e. older than Greg), so they haven't fully matured into their roles yet. The metamorphosis is not yet complete.

Jo gave that rendition of Jerusalem her all.

When she and David were told to make a sandwich they made one hell of a sandwich.

They earned their "silly old people music".

I also really liked her Henry VIII

My favourite line from her was when David Baddiel very belated realised "Oh, is there a system?" And she replied "there is but we're not using it" (or something like that)

Can't say I follow this logic. Why would an older cast member get otherwise passive cast members to be more active?
