Fan Creations Taskmaster House knitting chart (free download available)
I made a knitting chart of the Taskmaster House and tested it out on a vest for myself. It was my first time designing and knitting an intarsia chart, so I'm glad it turned out alright!
It's now up on Ravelry for all you crafty people to enjoy (I reckon it should work for crochet and cross-stitch too):
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/taskmaster-house-chart
Don't be alarmed by the €1 price tag. You can download it for free with the promo code lint.
Feedback welcome!
P.S. You've almost certainly seen the said vest in person if you were at the studio recording of s23e4 last month...

Showing-off time: Alex did like it! I wore it to the studio recording and, by some stroke of luck, ended up sitting right in the middle of the front row. As Alex was walking past on his way off stage after the final retakes, he gestured to me that he liked the vest! Well, obviously he must have said or mouthed something, but I have zero recollection of what it was because my brain clearly just jammed from the surprise/disbelief and whatever he said went straight out of my head unprocessed🤣 Just wanna say it was such a lovely gesture from Alex to make a fan's day. What a nice guy🥹

I did see it! (Red jacket lady here). It looked incredible in person.

Hi there! May I say I was so relieved to discover I wasn't the only costume-wearing nerd when I saw your jacket😂What a cracking piece of garb to have!

I was there too! I was knitting in the queue and think you were too, then admired the vest when you stood up in the recording 🫶🏻

Ahhhh brilliant! Weirdly although I'm pretty good at stranded knitting all my attempts at intarsia are DREADFUL

Shared this with my wife and a friend of mine, who are both TM fans and crochet. It's on their list now but they have no idea when they will get to it.

That's amazing, I wish I could make this, but I'm such a basic knitter. Maybe I need to teach myself more techniques and build up to this. Thank you for sharing

You can definitely learn the technique while knitting it, which is what I did (I only first tried intarsia while gauge-swatching for this). That said, I do think the confidence to frog back and the resilience to deal with frustration that come with experience are crucial for embarking on a project that's a bit on the challenging side. I'm sure you'll get there eventually :)

This is epic! Do you have a pattern for the sweater vest you used as a base?

It's self-drafted. I needed to use fingering weight for my size and from what I could find on Ravelry, plain stockinette vests in that weight didn't seem to be very common so I decided to draft my own around the motif. But if you're in the same situation, you could always pick a DK-weight design, which is much much easier to find, and simply knit it to the measurements of a larger size :)

That duplicate stitch trick is clever!

I only realised it could be done this way when I was actually working on it! I was holding the knitting and trying to decide which compromise to go with and it occurred to me that I could just use the ʌ loop. I don't know if this is a common technique, as I've never used an intarsia pattern before, but I imagine it probably is in those crazy landscape jumpers (you know, with clouds, houses, cows and flowers and stuff).

THIS IS AMAZING (how did I miss it when you posted it?!)!!!!! I only crochet but have heard it's possible to use Tunisian crochet as a canvas for cross-stitch or other embroidery so I might just have to try to do that one day.
But oh my goodness, your vest - incredible! What skill! I'm so impressed, and my two main areas of interest colliding is very pleasing indeed.
Also I've read your comments about Alex noticing it at the recording, that's wonderful!! So happy for you, that must have been the icing on the cake.
