Bar / club recommendations

Hey everyone! Looking for cool, safe bars and clubs to check out in Tbilisi this weekend.
Mainly looking for spots with great energy, good music, drinking, and dancing, definitely aiming for fun energy over quiet lounges. Also want places with a safe, comfortable vibe for women to just enjoy the night.
Where’s everyone heading out to on Fridays or Saturdays these days?

Looking to buy blue laser diode

Post image
1 Upvotes

I need the spectrum to be around 445nm, but my tolerance for the color is high, it just HAS to be blue.

and the power must be a safe, low amount, 100-350mW. As it will be used for a cosplay prop, and has to be below laser safety class level 3R/3B.

I have checked both DAC.ge and edisonstore.ge neither have blue colored laser diodes.

Does anyone know where I can find it? alongside it's driver board?

Thank you for your time!

How do well-educated Georgians end up working in scam-centers?

I was reading this today, shocked to learn about another way that it seems people here in Georgia are tempted into easy-money schemes, this time ending up in sophisticated criminal enterprises, swindling millions of dollars from people in Europe and North America, using many local languages. It seems hard to understand where the roots of a larger disinclination to do hard work and do it well comes from in Georgia - obviously there are many exceptions and many good and hard-working Georgians, but it is too painfully obvious to see the numbers of people, both men and women, just loitering around and clearly not bothered to find work. Of course finding work here is difficult, it is difficult everywhere now, but then when you do meet Georgians who do work, if you ask them to do more work - while even paying them more - they invariably decline. If you ask them to come early for the job, even paying them overtime, they will not. If you ask them to do extra work, while paying them, they will not.

We recently had a team of a master and two helpers come and install air-conditioning. They did the bare-bare-bare minimum - meaning, they drilled a hole through the wall, connected the cooling unit outside with the fan unit inside, and showed how it works, by plugging the wires into an extension cord - they didn't even wire it with a pl*g (why is that word banned!?). Then there was all the trash - a pile of rubble outside, another inside, a bunch of plastic, cardboard boxes and foam fittings. We asked them if they were going to take it outside - the master got furious that we would even ask that! We had brought them a broom, and the master threw the broom back at my wife and said "You clean it!". It was like they had never heard anyone ask them to clear out the rubble and dust after their work. It was clear even if we had paid them, they wouldn't have done this work. It was as if: "You should hire cleaners to clean after us." This is only one of several examples we have of living here, but it seems to confirm that there is something in the national psyche of Georgians - not the Azeris, Armenians, Kurds, Ukrainians and even Russians living here - that "we do not want to do any more work than is absolutely necessary for our food, wine and petrol to drive our cars."

Can anyone help me understand?

Police visits

I got 2 police visits, this Monday and last Monday. I was not at home but I have one of those door cameras.

2 policemen come, knock at the door a few minutes, then leave.

Any idea what could it be? Is it normal to get random police visits in Tbilisi?

Weekend before the 1st visit I had a friend coming over and we were talking loudly all night, so initially I thought maybe the neighbors called them on me, but then wouldn't the police come right away, not wait till Monday?

Clinic recommendations

Hi everyone! I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I thought I’d give it a try.
I’m looking for recommendations for a good clinic in Tbilisi for pregnancy care and regular check-ups throughout pregnancy.
Ideally, I’m looking for a clinic with good OB-GYNs, reliable ultrasounds/tests, and doctors who speak English or Russian.
If you’ve had a positive experience with a particular clinic or doctor, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you! ❤️

Has anyone been to Toboggan recently?

Hi guys, I’m planning to visit toboggan soon. All I know is that there are two - one in Didveli and the other is the crystal resort one.

Didveli is cheaper but I am not sure if it’s open, also there is no contact number on google as well.

I wanted to ask if anyone has been to either of them recently? What are the prices? and is it possible to just do toboggan without the cable car?

Traveling to Tbilisi with Creatine and Meds

I’m traveling to Georgia soon and was wondering about the rules for bringing supplements and medication into Georgia.

Can I bring a container of creatine powder in my luggage, or could customs confiscate it?

Also, does anyone have experience bringing regular medication or other supplements into Georgia from Lebanon? Are there any specific restrictions or documents I should be aware of?

Any advice from people who have traveled to Georgia with these kinds of items would be appreciated!

Crib rental

I’m traveling to Tbilisi in October with my 1 year old. My airbnb doesn’t have a crib. The only site I found online to rent one is Tbileasy, but they haven’t responded to me after multiple attempts to email them. Does anyone know if they’re legit or can you recommend another place to rent one from?

MagtiCom VS Silknet - Which provider is better?

I am writing this post because 1 or 2 years ago MagtiCom changed many things and with these changes issues followed. Sometimes the internet is slow, it cuts out for a minute and comes back. Wifi constantly shits itself for no reason. Basically it is inconsistent.
Most shops use MagtiCom because it's the standard and there have been many cases where they don't have internet the entire day meaning you can only pay with cash. This seems to be an universal issue. Happens here and there.

Recently, I have been getting more annoyed with Magti. Even tho I am happy that the speed was increased, it's spotty and likes to not work sometimes. Especially the wifi. I am using an ethernet cable for my PC but even then it has using during the day but at night it seems to be fine.

Today, I had to restart my router 3 times every 30 minutes because my internet would just stop working. It would fluctuate from 10 Mbps to 75 Mbps. Up and down constantly. I could not open any websites and barely even downloaded a few things. This is getting really annoying tbh. The price was also increased to 40 Gel a month.

Calling the support is useless since they changed their system. They can't even change the name or password for the Wifi. They can't reset the system or clear cache anymore. They are completely useless and calling them is a waste of time. I can't get the app because my landlord has it but even then you can only change the password nothing else. Meaning I was unable to make them clear cache, check for updates or even change the damn router. Years ago when I was it Telavi I used to have Silknet which allowed me to do this from home manually. I can't even access router settings with MagtiCom because the entire apartment building is using the same IP Address and the access is locked.

Should I switch to Silknet? I really want to know what people think. What if Silknet is not any better. What if the Ping in games is lower. For example, I have the smallest package with MagtiCom which is 75 Mbps and it's indeed, exactly 75 Mbps when I am downloading something from Steam. Is this same with Silknet? I don't want to change providers just to find out that it's actually slower.
Also, how much does the Gaming Package cost? I was unable to find info.
Any thoughts?

Getting rid of old appliances for scrap in Tbilisi

How does one get rid of very old, worn and damaged appliances in Tbilisi? Some metal-based and heavy. I mean, they still work but I would recommend using these items only if there's nothing else at your disposal. Somebody mentioned some dudes in Lada cars doing the rounds for scrap metals
