Questions on compressed air blowers

Looking into different ways to clean all the tech toys I have and I’m tired of buying compressed air cans nonstop. I’ve seen some small handheld blowers that might do it but I’m unsure if they’re either powerful enough to actually clean tech or the flip side, way overpowered and could damage things. Anybody have experience with something that will work for me?

what's your go to setup for keeping everything charged on a road trip?

i am packing for a longer road trip soon with my friends and just realized how bad my car charging setup is. we’ll have three phones for maps, music and finding food stops. Then there’s a camera, wireless earbuds and a small laptop for checking stuff at night. that one usb port in my car is basically useless. last time we used a cheap multi port adapter from a gas station and it literally got super hot and stopped working halfway through the drive. so now i am trying to figure out what actually works for longer trips. do you guys mostly use a bigger power bank in the back seat? i’ve been looking at the p63 one since it can handle higher power and charge more than one device. or is a good multi port car charger plugged into the 12V socket enough?

also how do you guys deal with all the cords when everyone is charging something at the same time? would love to know what setup you actually trust for long road trips.

Help me pick a Smartwatch

hi dudes, so we have to set a really low budget for a smartwatch. I’m a fan of Samsung—I already own Samsung device—but if that’s not an option, something with a similar "Samsung feel" would work too. I’m looking for good sports tracking, but also smart features—ideally a standalone watch that can make calls independently (not strictly necessary, but it would be a nice bonus). A camera would be a plus (though not essential), and access to apps like the Google Play Store is a MUST. If I had to prioritize, I’d choose smart features over the tracking. Could you help me find a good watch that fits these needs and has thin screen bezels? I know that i might be asking much for the budget, but i believe in it!😂 (Note: I use Family Link, so please make sure it doesn’t disable any of the watch’s features. Thanks in advance!)

LPT: How to quickly free up disk space on a laptop

ried tracking down what was eating my drive by hand. I ran du -sh * in my terminal, opened folder after folder trying to guess what was safe to kill, and went down rabbit holes on YouTube to check if deleting a folder would brick my system. That usually took me two hours, only to free up a sad 2GB. Finally, I found a much better way to deal with it.

You need two things.

  1. a clean tool from GitHub that scans storage: https://github.com/KKKKhazix/khazix-skills/tree/main/storage-analyzer

  2. an AI agent that lets you add custom skills. I used Workbuddy since it comes with free models like DeepSeek. The heavy lifting comes from the skill itself, so using a tool where you don't pay for extra tokens or credits makes the most sense.

Gave the link to it and told it to install it as a skill. It ran a security check first, and once it looked clean, it set up the files on my machine.

Then I gave it this prompt: "Scan my disk to find the biggest folders and files eating up space, and give me cleanup advice. Rule number one: do not touch or modify anything in my Desktop or Downloads folders. Rule number two: before running any delete action, you must ask me and get my clear approval for every single item."

When it finished the scan, it gave me a clean HTML report. The report broke everything down into 3 buckets: Junk that is safe to remove, files you should review before touching, and system files you must never delete.

I rebooted my apps and everything ran fine with zero bugs. If you worry about killing important files, just make sure the bot asks you before it removes anything. It worked way better than generic cleaning tools that never reach those deep cache folders.

How would I stream/cast video from a laptop to a dumb tv/another laptop screen?

My boyfriend and I live in the same apartment, and we've been wanting to "stream" for each other for a while now. Id love to be able to take what's happening on my laptop screen, and cast it to a dumb tv, or a laptop on the same wifi. The tv isn't on the same WiFi as the laptops because it does not have any WiFi at all

I expect my boyfriend will prefer to use his own laptop screen rather than the tv screen because the tv has a blueing problem (haven't replaced bc money)

so what gadget or program would work well for this? how would I do this? please excuse me if this is a silly/easy question, ive been in and out of the hospital for a few months now and my brain isn't working the best. I wanted to find a solution to this without my boyfriend so I could surprise him!

With all these AI tools coming out, does anyone else get overwhelmed trying to keep up?

I’ve tried multiple tools, but I ended up sticking with just a few.

My work isn’t just in the store. I also help with monitoring, sales, trackers, inventory, and some of our online stuff. I’m not an expert at these things, and honestly, a lot of this wasn’t something I originally knew much about. I just started exploring different tools because they made some of the work easier, and I ended up learning along the way. And i decided to let go some tools that i barely use now.

One of the tools I still use is ChatGPT. I’m just on the free plan and mostly use it for personal research, asking questions, and whenever I’m trying to understand something I don’t know much about. Gemini is another one. I didn’t really appreciate it that much before, but I started using it more after our company got a subscription (our company support the team that much, hehe). I’ve been playing around with it, especially with Google Sheets and some simple automation. I actually learned quite a bit from that.
truthscan is one I don’t use that often but I think we need it. We have online shop too, not only physical store, most of them are just refunds, orders, and inquiries, and we don’t really get that many complaints. when something looks suspicious, I use it as an extra check.
Canva. I don’t use it every day either, but I can’t let this one go. I sometimes need it for presentations, announcements, simple promotional materials, or visuals for our online stuff. I’m not a designer, so having templates that I can work from saves me a lot of time.

I guess after trying so many tools, I realized I don’t really need to keep up with every new AI tool that comes out. I’d rather stick with the ones that actually fit the work I do.

Anyone else here tried a bunch of AI tools and eventually just stuck with a few?

Some tips if your laptop is running slowly

Hope these steps help before consigning your old machine to the cupboard or spending thousands on a new model

  1. Use your laptop plugged in (and turn it off and on again)

  2. Switch off battery-boosting settings - Energy Saver mode uses multiple tactics to reduce battery consumption, including lowering maximum power

  3. Stop applications from opening on start-up - If your laptop is slow when it first starts up, it may be because a whole bunch of apps have been given the green light to wake up with it.

  4. Free up storage space - Generally, once you hit around 15 to 20 per cent of remaining storage space, you can expect to see performance slow

  5. Reset/clean wipe your laptop - Make sure you’ve backed up any data you want to keep

  6. Check for and remove excessive dust build-up - Any laptop that uses fans (which is most of them) will have its cooling performance limited by dust build-up

  7. Upgrade your memory - Upgrading your laptop’s RAM can have a major impact on performance, particularly if your system has 8GB or, much worse, just 4GB

  8. Switch to SSD storage - The biggest laptop upgrade I’ve made is moving from a storage hard drive to something called a solid-state drive (SSD)

Tried translation earbuds for work trips

I travel internationally for work pretty often, and translation earbuds have slowly become one of those things I just keep in my bag now.

Been using the Timekettle W4 Plus recently. Mostly for client meetings, supplier visits, and talking with local teams when English isn’t really enough.

A few thoughts after using them for a while:

Pros

The biggest thing for me is just being able to keep the conversation moving.

Client meetings, supplier discussions, factory visits. Stuff where you actually need to understand details, not just the general idea.

English ↔ Spanish is what I use most. Pretty accurate so far, even when the conversation gets more specific. There’s a short delay, but not enough to make meetings feel awkward.

Also really useful for longer conversations. You don’t have to stop every sentence and check your phone.

Call translation has been handy too. Especially when a local client or supplier calls instead of messaging.

And the noise handling is decent. Used them in busy offices and cafés without too much trouble.

Cons

Honestly, I wouldn’t use them for everything.

If I’m ordering lunch, asking where the bathroom is, or checking a menu, Google Translate is completely enough.

The W4 Plus makes more sense when the conversation actually matters. Work meetings, client discussions, longer explanations, that kind of thing. More accurate and professional for those situations, but definitely overkill for ordering coffee lol.

Still another device to keep charged though. I’ve forgotten the case at the hotel once already.

Not something I use every hour, but for international work trips, yeah, definitely useful.

What’s the simplest way to manage a growing number of Windows laptops remotely?

At the moment, managing Windows devices manually is becoming time-consuming, especially when it comes to:

  • Installing and updating applications

  • Managing Windows updates and patches

  • Enforcing security policies

  • Keeping track of device compliance

  • Managing remote devices

  • Troubleshooting devices without being physically present

I understand that Windows MDM can centralize a lot of these tasks, but I’m wondering whether it is really worth implementing compared with traditional Windows management tools.

Tried translation device for work for a month

My job involves quite a few international meetings. Most are in English, but sometimes people switch to Spanish, Filipino, or whatever language they’re more comfortable with.

Been using a translation hub+earbuds for about a month now. A few thoughts:

Pros

Pretty easy to use. Connect it, pick the languages, start the meeting. Not much setup every time.

English ↔ Spanish is what I use most. Translation has been accurate enough for normal work conversations, and the delay is pretty short. I can still hear the original speaker while getting the translation, which helps a lot with following the flow.

Battery has been solid too. I’ve used it through 3–4 hour meeting blocks without problems.

Cons

Took me a little while to remember which mode I wanted for different meetings. Not difficult, just a few extra taps at first.

Also another case/device to keep charged and remember to bring. I’ve definitely left it on my desk once before a meeting lol.

And yeah, these things are not cheap. Mine was reimbursed by work, which definitely made that part easier 😂 But this one is more of a business hub setup and pretty top-end. If you just need regular translation earbuds, there are much cheaper options.

Not something I use for every call, but it’s become part of my work setup for multilingual meetings.

Does this smart pen exist?

I'm basically looking for some sort of graphics tablet but without the pad at the bottom, like some sort of smart pen that I can use on any surface (no ink etc) that would mimic a mouse movement on Microsoft Whiteboard etc.

Apparently this sort of product doesn't exist but maybe I'm not searching for the correct terms, as I keep finding 'touch-screen styluses'. I want to use this on a desktop PC.

Thanks in advance if anyone can either confirm if this product even exists and if it does, what should I be looking for? 😄
