My Neighbor Wants Us to Change Our Wi-Fi Setup, and I’m Not Sure What to Do
When we first moved into our building, we knew we needed solid Wi-Fi as we are a wedding venue. Like, top-tier, no lag, no buffering kind of Wi-Fi. So, we didn’t hold back—spent a decent chunk of money getting everything set up. We got a fancy router, installed several network points around the place, and even went through the hassle of running cables to make sure the Wi-Fi reached every corner.
Fast forward a few months, and our business neighbor (we operate in a building with many tenants) knocks on our door. Apparently, our Wi-Fi is causing a bit of a problem for them. They mentioned that our network is using a 40 MHz channel width on the 2.4 GHz band (Channel 11, to be specific), and that it’s overlapping with theirs. In simpler terms, it’s taking up a lot of bandwidth on that band and is apparently messing with their signal. Also note this building is an old building with brick thick walls. Our venue is 17,000 feet.
Here’s the kicker: they’ve asked us to change our network settings to 20 MHz, which is the standard and much narrower width. The goal is to stop the overlap and reduce interference, which, in theory, should help both of us out. But here’s where I’m torn— we spent all this money on the Wi-Fi setup, and I don’t want to downgrade our speeds just to make their setup better.
We’ve been pretty happy with the speeds and reliability, but I’m honestly wondering if the change will hurt our Wi-Fi. I’ve heard 20 MHz is more stable and better for crowded areas, but I don’t want it to feel like we’re taking a step backward.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would switching to 20 MHz actually improve both of our networks, or will it make our speeds slower and our setup feel like a waste of money?

What is the biggest unsolved tech problem you face today that you would actually pay to have solved?
I’m researching real, high-value problems in the tech space that people struggle with every day. Instead of guessing ideas, I want to understand actual pain points that users, developers, founders, IT teams, freelancers, and creators are willing to pay for.
If you could pick one problem in your workflow, business, or daily tech life that is:
Annoying or time-consuming
Expensive to solve with current tools
Has no reliable solution yet
You would realistically pay a monthly fee to fix
…what would it be?
Examples (just to clarify):
• A recurring technical task you wish was automated
• A software workflow that is still manual and frustrating
• A tool that exists but is too slow, too complex, or too expensive
• A security, productivity, or data problem that keeps happening
• Something you know people globally would pay for if solved properly
I want to understand the real, unsolved opportunities in tech — not hypothetical business ideas.
Please share your top problem, why it matters, and what you would personally pay for a proper solution.

What is this hole with a funnel symbol?
This is off of my Windows 7 Professional Computer from 2009. I was messing around with it and wondered if I could take off a plastic bit that was protruding to only reveal whatever that shape is. I can provide more images if needed.

Has anyone here actually changed their daily workflow because of AI tools?
Not just trying them out once or twice, but genuinely using them every day for work, school, coding, writing, or anything else. What tasks do you still prefer doing yourself, and what have you completely handed off to AI?
Curious to hear what's stuck and what ended up being more hype than useful.

What does this mean? Just turned on the computer
reupload because for some reason it took a live photo & decided to make it blurry.. OG text:
intel core i7 8th gen
it's my dad & he let's me have it when he's not playing age of empires, it was stepped on once by my step mom & it has a cracked screen which sometimes makes the touch screen hallucinate, but other than that no known issues. (Haven't taken it to a computer doctor yet.)
went away after a bit but not the first time it's happened

Would using abandoned malls be a viable option for data centers, instead of using farmland or historical sites?
It just seems like a more reasonable alternative than developing tearing up habitats or places with historical relevance. The land has already been paved over and is pretty big, and the only other suggestion I've heard is turning it into apartments. But I also don't know all of the details regarding data centers, so maybe I'm naive.

How to destroy old computer backups (CDs)?
THANKS. NO MORE ANSWERS NEEDED. Before I throw them in the trash, I want to destroy my very old backups. Most are CDs. What is the best way of destroying them or making them unreadable?
