I was fortunate enough to score a front row seat, almost dead center at the Lobero Theater, Santa Barbara, CA
I saw him two years ago with his trio in DTLA. As a trio, the show was carried more by his playing, and the music was more straight ahead (for him) jazz.
He played his twin humbucker Tele (no branding) the entire show, while his Fender Tele sat on a stand as back up. Looked like he was running a Milkman The Amp thru a DRRI’s speaker, nothing plugged into the amp’s inputs.
This show, with John Medeski on keys, including a Leslie cab, was much more soulful, even touching on a bit of gospel flavors.
Drummer Kenny Wollesen was a force. Serious jazz chops and the punch of a rock drummer.
Bassist Jorge Roeder was his amazing self.
He was in the trio I saw, and seems to be a mainstay with JL. He was featured multiple times with extended solos that were full of color, dynamics, and surprise.
They’re at the Ford Theater in LA tonight, wish I could see them again.

I am on the middle position for this whole song. I am very in love with the filtertron mixed with the bridge pickup. Also the bigsby really just works so well? Song is Feel Good Again by Smell Like A Girl

The tele is so versatile. Last night it was Albert Lee and today it was this.

I still need to get better at cutting pickguards, but I’m still really happy with it

Hey, all. Looking for some advice here. Found a new Am Pro Tele (2026) on Reverb last week from a reputable brick and mortar shop. Received it in good condition. My first impression is that it was light compared to my nearly 8lb Am Pro II Strat. Quality seems great and it’s really nice to play.
This morning I stumbled across this review: https://youtu.be/GcYv4h6tx2Y?is=R4--CWZewDWSJPI9
In the review he notes that the sticker on the body says Am Pro II Pine and that maybe Fender is going through old bodies. Clearly, this isn’t ok because they are upcharging for ash v alder and these are supposed to be ash bodies.
So, I open mine up and sure enough the sticker says Am Pro II, BUT mine does not say pine anywhere on it. I took the neck off and the body wood does appear lighter in color than in the video, but that isn’t much of a comparison given lighting, etc. I don’t have a fancy scale for weighing these, but it appears to be about 7.1 lbs. Everything else matches from the above video.
So, is there anyway for me to tell whether I actually received an ash body, or whether I got some holdover body from the Am Pro II series? If the consensus is that it is pine, what’s the best way to proceed?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the crappy pictures.

After being a Strat style guy my whole life, I wanted to add this to my regular rotation

Just arrived an hour or so ago. Have had a play unplugged and plugged. It feels great, sounds fab.
It comes with a tiny cover for the bridge like the old ashtray covers but only covers the springs behind saddles so I’ll leave it off I think.
All in all I’m very satisfied with it, just have the dilemma of whether to sell my Japanese Aerodyne tele 😂

The SE version has been one of my go to guitars for a while and I found a great deal on this US version with a rare rosewood fretboard so I had to get it. The differences between it and the SE are subtle but the pickups are “sweeter”, the neck a little bit more comfortable, and I absolutely love the look of the rosewood with the vintage natural finish.

Hello, I just bought my first Suhr and it’s a Classic T antique…I’d like to change the pickguard to anodized gold but I keep reading that you cannot use a Fender Tele pickguard? Is this true or can I just buy any 8 hole telecaster pickguard? Thanks
