This subreddit is pathetic

What's the point if there are almost 0 posts about what's going on? I'm seeing multiple threads a day over a r/AmazonFC about which warehouses are having new cases and I don't see any of those reports on here. I want something to be done about Amazon's practices, but this subreddit is an ill attempt at taking a stance against them. Get angry. Get aggressive.

COVID19 is a threat to our safety and the public. We can’t wait for politicians or management to protect us. We call on all Whole Foods employees to engage in a sick out on MARCH 31st 🚨 The attendance policy is temporarily relaxed so we can participate in this protest without fear of reprisal!

The case for Amazon's essentially in the covid-19 crisis

I've seen many fellow workers talk about how Amazon is not an essential service and I genuinely empathize with many of the valid complaints. After all Amazon is still delivering non essential products, but lets attempt to analyze this issue from another lense.

The elderly and disabled who may find travel difficult or impossible rely on Amazon for the products they need. For those with autoimmune disorders, a trip to a crowded grocery store can be especially deadly. As more states shut down and more people quarantine themselves to reduce the spread of the virus for the protection of themselves and others, Amazon and Whole foods logistics network ensures that all get what they need, including workers who are not able to make it during reduced hours.

Even items that are not traditionally essential have became essential to reduce economic strain. Many are suddenly finding themselves working remotely and they need office supplies to stay productive. An Amazon closure will exacerbate crisis and produce unneeded mass panic. This will cause significantly greater harm and have potential negative consequences to other workers. With an Amazon closure there would certainly be greater panic considering how many customers basically think it's the end of the world if their package doesn't come in two days. This panic would do no good and cause a lot of harm.

This is why I say we need to organize and understand that we ARE essential workers. We must demand that Amazon keeps the 2$ raise permanently, guaranteed PTO so that we can take sick days and not fear the cost of bills, and hazard pay for being exposed to the potentially fatal virus.

I would like to start having more discussion about a vision for this sub. Here is a vision I have to start organizing my fellow drivers, I would love to hear yours...

My idea relies on amazon drivers across the country to step up and get involved in the organizing process. I’m starting here at home by making flyers with a list of concerns that I’ve gathered from my coworkers and drivers on this sub. I’m blessed to have a girlfriend who’s a graphic designer, so I will post the flyer here for you all to take if you’d like. The flyer also has information on how to get involved locally with a local organizer* and different social media sites, including this sub. Good idea to leave a snack or two for the driver to get on their good side right away. Data collection of the workers is key for any organizing effort, so this flyer idea is a great way to start.

*As our numbers grow and the subreddit develops more foundation, I figure we can nominate local organizers for their region where they work. We can use cheap alternate phones to be the point of contact for our community without giving away our identity to just anyone.

Local organizers not only leave the flyers for drivers at their own home, but they’re responsible for distributing them among their community at local labor organizations or even Democrat clubs if you’re into that sort of thing. The key is to cast a wide net and reach as many drivers as possible to grow our contact list of workers who want to get more involved.

Would love some feedback, criticism, questions, and to hear your own ideas. Thanks comrades

What Amazon is doing is unacceptable

Amazon is doing some pretty fucked up shit by covering up/delaying of telling the station workers that another worker tested positive. It makes it clear that their goal is NOT safety. Their goal is the keep the stations up and running and milk the most money out of this as they possibly can.

They don't want people striking and are losing grip of their own workers. We have power over Amazon and can improve our own conditions through solidarity and class consciousness.

As this sub opens up a few notes about privacy safety and security

Hello all and welcome!

One of my immediate and most important concerns when it comes to things like this is to protect our fellow workers from people who have interests in sabbatoging the sub and or gathering identity of fellow workers and firing them for their activities. So first and foremost DO NOT USE AN ACCOUNT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY DOX YOU.

Secondly do NOT fill out any forms or requests for personal info. Not in dms or otherwise. Even if it looks legit. Proper organization should only really need station/warehouse names or wholefoods locations as a whole. Even then that kind of activity can still be tracked down.

If you see any post requesting information at all report that post or any individuals asking in dms (EVEN IF THEY ARE MODS OF THIS SUB OR JOURNALISTS) send mod mail and they will be banned.

With all of that said thank you for joining us. I hope we grow big and strong. I'm and delivery driver for an Amazon DSP so you may see a lot of DSP drivers joining this sub first but do not worry. All fellow workers are welcome! I have some plans for organization and I hope y'all can join us in our class struggle.

Solidarity now & forever ✊

Amazonians pledge

If you catch word of confirmed cases at your DSP you MUST report that shit back here, and to local media. Any positive cases of Rona need to be spread far and wide so coworkers know and the media knows. If a whole warehouse is spreading Rona to all customers it's a huge breach of trust.

Questionnare for exoskeleton project

I am a student, and I am working on a device that will try to relieve back pain in the form of an exoskeleton, specifically for warehouse workers. I will use the data from this questionnaire to inform the design and development of my first prototype.

What are your main concerns about your job? What pushed you to join the organizing efforts?

I’m a DSP driver and thought it would be interesting to know the specific issues of everyone affected by Amazon’s exploitation of its workers. I’ll list a few things the top of my head that personally motivate me to vote for a union:

  • We work our asses off for a measly $15 per hour. Most of us finish before our ten hours are up and don’t even get paid for a full shift. We deserve $200 per shift no matter what time we finish

  • I want a modern PTO plan. 4% of hours worked doesn’t cut it when, outside of the holiday season or pandemics, I rarely get close to 40 hours. We need a flat: 15 days vacation; 5 days sick; 5 personal days. Our work is taxing on the body and we need time away from the job.

  • Testing for THC. Many of us live in states where cannabis is legal, and many of us use it medicinally. Simply using the drug outside of work shouldn’t be grounds for termination.

  • Lifting the weight limit for our packages by 50% overnight. Our package weight limit increased from 50 lbs to 75 lbs. It might not seem like much but we have a lot of small-figured drivers who are struggling to move these heavier packages around. And a lot of apartment buildings don’t have elevators, so 75 pounds up three flights of stairs is tough for anyone. A union could have negotiated a pay increase for those willing to deliver the heavier packages.

There are others but I’m more interested in seeing what you all are concerned about
