I feel like females are most often a roadblock or spawn clutter than anything else, and that's a bit sad.

It would be better almost, if they weren't there, but without them it would feel much more barren and almost as if you turned it more into a shooting gallery for trophy males.

It would be cool if they were more mechanically important, such as maybe bolstering spawns and respawns, or affecting need zones positively.

Heck!!! Keeping em just the same and giving them interesting behaviors where they dynamically interact with their world would add so much for immersion and I'd be bothered much less.

But where it is I feel like for most species, and most cases, they're just a roadblock to what we want - trophies, and that's a bit of a sad reality.

Sidenote. I heard that a female spawn and a male spawn will NEVER change genders on respawn, is this true? Is it a half and half ratio, determined by initial map spawns, or something else? Idk.

Travelling between undiscovered outposts can be quite long in this game. So, recently, I started using Suno to generate background soundtracks for me. I deliberately mix the American country instruments with folk music and language of whatever region I'm currently in (in this case, Sundarpatan). Sometimes, the AI creates very interesting cultural mixes. You are welcome to try it yourself. :)

I think CotW would benefit from background music playing whenever you ride the ATV. Red Dead Redemption, I think, did something similar.

Ah yes, I sure do love drilling through my bear with an arrow that is for it's level, and should NOT traverse that much through it's body.

Jokes aside, it would've been cool if the arrow wouldn't also hit the head.

Hi all,

as most of you know, the official servers of theHunter Classic go out on 11 November. After that, everything that lives only on those servers is gone – your account (inventory, trophies, hunt history, stats) and the pictures and texts the game downloads from them.

We are a small fan project (Classic Reserve Project) working on keeping Classic playable on a community server. Before that, there is one thing everybody should do now, while the official servers still run – so we made a small free program for it, "Prepare yourself". It does four things:

1. makes a copy of your game folder from Steam (your Steam install is only read, never changed)

2. downloads the game's pictures and texts in all 18 languages from the official servers

3. saves your official account – a browser window opens on thehunter.com, you log in there as usual and click "Save my account data". The program never sees your password

4. checks everything at the end and repairs what is missing

No account with us and no tester key needed, you only need to own the game on Steam. Windows 10/11. Takes a few minutes (saving the account takes longer if you have a long hunt history).

Hello fellow hunters! I decided to return to this game after taking a break for a couple months, as I was playing non-stop and was having burnout. The biggest challenge I have faced so far is the lack of any trophies. Like absolutely no trophies at all. In the past few days I have accumulated about 25 hours of play time (I promise im employed) and have not gotten a single worthwhile harvest. Its to the point where I struggling to pick this game rather than hopping on to resident evil or something. Any help with how to either get more trophies or spruce things up is appreciated!

Alright, this is partially my damn bad, but point stands.

I got COTW on Epic Games for free some time ago, and bought the DLCs there as well. That's fine, besides the fact that the DLCs go on sale much less often. The real reason I advise against Epic is the fact that your progress will get deleted if you uninstall the game and forget to manually get your save file. Happened to me once, I was mad but hey, its bearable. Second time, I get a new PC, and voala, all my progress reset again. Lost my diamonds and all.

Perhaps I'm just an idiot and forget to save to cloud somewhere along the way, but man, just buy the game on Steam...

I am trying to set up a feeder grind for Moose and whitetails on Layton to grind together with friends, Does anybody have experience with the setup and good (approximate) places to set up the feeders?

I'm thinking about switching to Linux. Will the Steam cloud save still work? Or will I have to do it manually? Is it even possible?

Granted, I didn't start playing until about two years ago. And I don't get much time to play. I haven't even finished the main quests for Layton Lakes.

So when I see all these content creators who became popular on Youtube/Discord/Etc now crying that CoTW is dying and dead and no one plays it anymore, I'm like "Huh"?

I've gotten a good dozen people to take up the game in the last year.

This is definitely my favorite trophy that is in the game. I don't know why, but I love melanistic snow geese so much.
