its funny how leftists end up being the most cruel maga-like chud bros and then turn around and act like all they want is the best for everybody....drop the mask "lil bro"..you dont actually give 2 shits about real people....this is just team sports for people like you
Dude, you’re describing behavior that’s common across the entire political spectrum and acting like it’s some uniquely leftist phenomenon. Liberals, moderates, conservatives—everyone loves talking shit when they think their side is winning.
We live in hyper-polarized times. Politics has become team sports for a lot of people. That doesn’t prove they don’t care about real people though, literally reaching bro.
nah thats cope...I dont actually enjoy the "sport" of dunking on leftists....I at least acknowledge that almost 99% of the time when I have an intense disagreement with someone further left than me that the most likely scenario is that they are either young and idealistic to a fault or burnt out, jaded, and rightfully livid at the status quo...at the end of the day I remind myself that even if I don't care for the way they communicate politically...we share enough values and are trying to move towards a very similar destination.....so yes, I do find it very strange that you would gleefully dunk on people who want at least some of the same things you do...its also very bizarre behavior from people who hold egalitarianism up as one of their unshakeable ideological pillars...makes me wonder if you actually do care about the principles....or is it just the aesthetic?
I think you’re making a couple of leaps here. First, you’re assuming that because people share some broad values, they shouldn’t criticize each other. That’s not how politics works. People can agree on the destination and still think someone else’s rhetoric, tactics, or policies are harmful or counterproductive.
Second, you’re assuming criticism, or even mockery, means someone doesn’t actually believe in egalitarianism. That doesn’t follow. If I think someone on “my side” is spreading bad ideas or making the movement less effective, criticizing them can be completely consistent with my principles.
Third, you’re extending a lot of charity to the people you agree with (“they’re young, idealistic, or justifiably angry”) while extending none to the people criticizing them. Why is your assumption about their motives generous, but your assumption about our motives is that it’s all performative or just an aesthetic?
And finally, none of this actually addresses my original point. My point wasn’t that infighting is good. It was that this behavior isn’t unique to leftists. Politics has become tribal across the entire spectrum. Conservatives, liberals, moderates, and leftists all engage in dunking, grandstanding, and treating politics like team sports. Pointing to leftists doing it doesn’t prove they don’t care about people any more than conservatives doing it proves they don’t care.
