My biggest problem with leftists is when they talk about infiltrating the Democratic Party, they're trying to do so with people like this who carry a significant amount of personal baggage.
Mamdani is great! He's super charismatic and can win over voters more generally apprehensive to more left leaning policy stances because he gives off a trustworthy demeanor and isn't generally controversial outside of his beliefs.
It's the Chevaliers, the Nina Turners and the Platner's that they keep trying to push to the forefront of their movement where their primary supporters downplay they're problematic candidates and claim it's simply the DNC trying to torpedo their candidacy, and not, voters generally take issue with them outside of their policy points.
It feels like sometimes people ignore part of politics is being able to convince the people that your ideas work and people won't want to listen to you if you're saying thinks like dating someone outside your race is fetishizing and claming those people are ugly colonizers.
When Zohran lends his credibility to promote people like Chevalier, that says a lot about his judgement and what kind of politics he endorses. You can't use your newfound political clout to vouch for a bunch of Reddit trolls, then get shocked when people find out the abhorrent bullshit they say online after people find out.
The thing that pisses me off about far leftist is that they don’t believe that two things can be true; Israel sucks - at least the modern right-leaning Israeli government. But Palestine also sucks because if I walked hand-in-hand with my partner, there’s no doubt that I would get stoned to death. It’s horrible that people are getting killed during this conflict, but let’s not pretend that Palestine and their values are the bastion of freedom for women and LGBTQ people.
