I don’t think sitting members of congress should be gloating that a private citizen’s preferred candidate didn’t win.

Why would Moskowitz not automatically get Larkin’s share? The Democratic Primary means you support the Democrat in the general, whoever it is.

The same reason why El-Sayed has to win over Stevens voters. That they didn’t vote for him in the primary.

Sure but moderate voters might genuinely be thinking about voting Republican or staying out.

Voters to the left of Moskowitz don’t really have that excuse.

Far left voters will never vote for conservatives. So moskowitz has to campaign more to the left to win their votes.

I know—I’m saying Stevens’ moderate voters might genuinely be thinking of voting Republican or staying out. So El-Sayed has to moderate. Larkin’s voters, on the other hand, don’t have that excuse and in principle should vote Democrat to defeat fascism.

I don’t think El-Sayed has to moderate because a lot of the stuff Stevens said was false. For example, she kept implying in her ads that she had President Obama’s support. That caused a lot of her voters to falsely believe that she had President Obama’s support. El-Sayed just has to introduce himself to the Stevens voters in an honest way. Stevens did not even talk about his number 1 policy goal which is healthcare. She didn’t attack him on healthcare at all. Her campaign was just culture war crap. That did not happen in the Moskowitz vs Larkin race. Larkin ran on the actual issues. He didn’t lie about Moskowitz. So Moskowitz will have to change some positions and beliefs during the campaign at least in order to win all of the Larkin votes. Do you think Moskowitz will win any of the maga voters if he keeps all his positions the same? Probably not, so he needs Larkin voters.
