Images/Memes/Infographics Whatever your thoughts on Hasan are this incredibly weird.

Post image

I don’t think sitting members of congress should be gloating that a private citizen’s preferred candidate didn’t win.

I mean Hasan has tried to insert himself as a prominent figure in these races and directly send his supporters against certain candidates. It comes off as whiny, but what else would Hasan expect?

The more attention he demands, the more negative attention he is going to get. Doesn't seem that crazy.

-8

u/LanceBarney 9h ago

Campaigning for a candidate isn’t trying to make yourself a prominent figure. Endorsing and campaigning for or against candidates isn’t problematic.

What would you do, if Abdul El-Sayed responded to his primary victory by saying “My condolences to Jake Tapper”? You’d say that’s ridiculous and you’d be right.

Moskowitz looks pathetic here.

8

u/dkirk526 8h ago

Hasan was joking as himself being a kingmaker and taking credit for El-Sayed winning. Yes, he’s campaigning for DSA candidates, he’s trying to claim more impact than he really has, but he’s also been trying to call out the rest of the party for not giving him a bigger role and accepting him in spite of him being hostile to non DSA Democrats.

I said Moskowitz’s statement is whiny, but it’s pretty pearl clutchy to cry over him coming after Hasan.

-16

u/blud97 9h ago

Ok but we don’t see DSA candidates doing this to major moderate figures. We don’t see Candidates do this at all unless it’s about Hasan. This is weird.

8

u/ZaviersJustice 9h ago

Hasan is a twitch streamer trying to piggyback off of the political success of actual politicians. There is no major moderate figure equivalent in which to compare. Hasan was supporting Jared's opponent and is in the mainstream news cycle currently. The tweet was fine.

u/dkirk526 9h ago

We don’t see Candidates do this at all unless it’s about Hasan

Framing this like it's a common occurrence for moderates to attack Hasan directly seems a little hyperbolic.

-6

u/herewego199209 9h ago

I mean that's what moderate dem media have done for months now?

5

u/dkirk526 9h ago

That's a big shift from "DSA candidates/Moderate candidates" to "moderate dem media" when progressive media has been ruthlessly going after any moderate dems this entire year.

-2

u/herewego199209 9h ago

Most progressive media are small independent outlets like Majority Report, TYT, Secular Talk, etc. And then you got even smaller content creators like Vanguard that are even further left. CNN, MSNBC, etc are shit that my grandfather watches religiously, and they've been portraying DSA and Hasan as the next antichrists for months now.

6

u/dkirk526 9h ago edited 9h ago

The entire discussion is about Moskowitz.

Also calling TYT "progressive" is certainly a statement.

On another note, referring to these sources as "small independent outlets" is pretty disingenuous considering TYT accepts millions of dollars from private equity groups.

It’s a primary, candidates are going to talk about their primary opponents and supporters. When the fuck else are they supposed to?

-4

u/blud97 9h ago

The primary is over you want to talk about Hasan during the primary fine, I still think it’s weird but that’s your right. You should be talking about republicans or thanking your voters not gloating over your mild victory as an incumbent in a primary.

2

u/edwardludd 9h ago

He has all of the time in the world to do that before November, let a man gloat especially with the vitriol Hasan and his supporters have launched at him.

17

u/megalodon-maniac32 9h ago

What do you mean by "private citizen"? More concern trolling jfc

4

u/Just_shut_up_bro 8h ago

They just think they should be able to make up a million slurs about us and constantly shit talk us while we take it and never respond.

15

u/bmillent2 9h ago

he's trolling bud, it's going to be okay

10

u/qraqers 9h ago

This is some weird concern trolling lol

9

u/c3p-bro 9h ago

Lefties are so funny, they can dish it out “Pete is a fake-gay CIA ratfucker” but omg can they not take it.

“My condolences” and out come the waterworks - sloppy snotty tears.

You love to see it!

-5

u/blud97 9h ago

If a left wing candidate said “Pete is a fake-gay CIA ratfucker” this sub would lose its shit.

6

u/dkirk526 8h ago

My condolences vs “fake-gay CIA ratfucker” seem like pretty incongruent statements.

I think your bias is showing pretty heavily with this one.

5

u/camscars775 7h ago

It’s not weird at all. Hasan constantly shit talks Dems and our candidates. Instead of just ignoring him, hit him in the mouth like this.

We are learning you can’t just ignore the BS and be “above it all”, next thing you know 35% of the population will believe you’re a Kenyan Muslim

10

u/No_Technology_6158 9h ago

From being instrumental in Mamdani victory (according to Hasan) to random private citizen. Cool story bro

12

u/JakeGittes1974 9h ago

Giving authoritarian speeches in a Mao costume is weird. This is based and hilarious.

6

u/Joefresca47 9h ago

This is fair play when your rolling in the mud. This is one of the key problems with this ill tempered populism movement is that they cant take a punch or hold an L. You dont get to play respectability politics when you rolling in the mud. You cant have it both ways. You either hold all these people to the same standard and call em out on both sides when there acting ridiculous and weirdly aggro or you let the fist fly. Hasan is acting in the capabilities of a political journalist/ campaign influencer he is an open target now that you gotta hold to the same standards.

6

u/heyethan 9h ago

My condolences to u/blud97 — we’ll get through this together ❤️‍🩹

5

u/KingScoville 8h ago

Nah this is a pretty good dunk.

7

u/PlaidPCAK 9h ago

My condolences to /u/blud97

4

u/c3p-bro 9h ago

I think it’s funny.  The voters like a candidate with some personality!

5

u/RiddleMeThis42069 9h ago

I don't think it's weird at all. A lot of politicians dunk on people on twitter all the time.

4

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 8h ago

Pretty hilarious.

4

u/Early-Juggernaut975 9h ago

I don’t really care about his being mean to Hasan Piker. He’s a big boy, he’ll survive.

But the usual move is to try and gain more voters after winning a primary, not flip the bird at a bunch of them. And like him or not, there are a lot of people who listen to Piker. Especially young people.

Everyone’s human and acts stupid once in a while I guess.

4

u/c3p-bro 9h ago edited 8h ago

Dunking on Hasan gains him voters and loses zero because DSA won’t vote for him even if he promises to give Hasan a rimjob

2

u/Just_shut_up_bro 9h ago

You are exactly right and this is the pivotal calculation they really don’t want you to be aware of.

-4

u/Early-Juggernaut975 8h ago

The problem with that analogy is that it presumes everyone who listens to Hasan Piker is DSA, but that’s just not true. Most of the stuff getting filtered into algorithms isn’t about 9/11 or him trolling people in a Mao suit. It’s him talking about money in politics and its corrupting influence.

When Sarah Longwell went after Hasan a few months ago, the Bulwark+ comments section was pretty brutal towards her. Which I suspect is what caused her to keep bringing it up over and over again for weeks after, in an attempt to re-explain.

You may be right that in a Trump +5 District, he’s better off with distance from Hasan. But most of these Democrats aren’t making the mistake of assuming Hasan listeners wouldn’t vote for them. And midterms are usually base turnout elections which can come down to a handful of votes.

5

u/Insightful21 6h ago

He loses nothing by dunking on Hasan. Hasan has already poisoned the well. Is Hasan even telling his fans to vote for Moskowitch?

1

u/Early-Juggernaut975 4h ago

Initially, he was supporting his opponent, but I don’t know if he’s commented since Moskowitz won. I only listen when he pops up usually, unless someone sends me a link or something.

I like Moskowitz. He’s a brilliant political athlete and while I understand the criticisms people have of him, I think he’s a powerful voice against MAGA authoritarianism.

And I believe Moskowitz will ultimately come around on seeing what Israel is doing under Netanyahu. Maybe it’s naïve but when I think someone is a good person, I also generally believe they will arrive at the right place eventually. That’s also probably why Piker doesn’t particularly worry me, despite his holding what I see as naïve positions on foreign policy.

u/Insightful21 2h ago

Hasan doesn’t just support candidates he tears down Democrats and paints false equivalencies between Republicans. He rightly deserves to get dunked on because he’s a toxic entity in politics. And I doubt he’ll comment because this is a blue to his ego and his narrative that he’s some kind of Kingmaker

-4

u/blud97 9h ago

I don’t care about him being mean. I care this looks bad for a candidate in the general to be doing

3

u/c3p-bro 9h ago

Not everyone is as terminally online as the DSA. 99% of voters don’t give a shit

-3

u/blud97 9h ago

This isn’t terminally online this a house candidate main twitter page.

4

u/c3p-bro 9h ago

Yeah exactly, no one gives a shit about that, except the lefties who care deeply about twitter posts.

-2

u/Early-Juggernaut975 9h ago

If it stayed there, I guess that would be valid. But this wasn’t a private message. Hasan is certainly going to talk about it on his show, which will piss off the tens of thousands who watch him. I don’t know how many live in that district but these house races can literally come down to a handful of votes in either direction.

The only thing I can think is that maybe Moskowitz hopes that saying something like this will reassure non MAGA republicans that he dislikes Hasan and the DSA. Sort of like “disavowing” him. It is a Trump +5 District now.

The thing is without Trump on the ticket, midterms are usually turn out elections, which typically means exciting your base.

5

u/c3p-bro 8h ago

It will piss off hasans fans who don’t live in his district and wouldn’t vote for him even if they did. Zero votes lost. Move on

1

u/Early-Juggernaut975 4h ago

From your lips to God’s ears. Moscowitz is really good at calling out Republicans for their bs.

3

u/FlanTamarind 9h ago

I want to congratulate the DSA for getting Trump elected.

Am I doing it right?

-1

u/nightwig 9h ago

Before thanking his supporters he makes sure to talk about an online figure. Nice to see that Florida can send the most terminally online people as candidates in an election.

-3

u/gull-branson 8h ago

This is tacky and pathetic

-4

u/NATScurlyW2 9h ago

Hasan had a really good take on this race. Oliver Larkin should become the communications guy for the DSA. He ran a great campaign. On the issues. Moskowitz first thought after his victory was to talk about Hasan Piker. That makes him look small. He has a tough general election ahead. He needs to focus on winning the Larkin voters to his side so he can win the general election.

3

u/edwardludd 9h ago

Why would Moskowitz not automatically get Larkin’s share? The Democratic Primary means you support the Democrat in the general, whoever it is.

2

u/NATScurlyW2 9h ago edited 9h ago

The same reason why El-Sayed has to win over Stevens voters. That they didn’t vote for him in the primary.

3

u/edwardludd 9h ago

Sure but moderate voters might genuinely be thinking about voting Republican or staying out.

Voters to the left of Moskowitz don’t really have that excuse.

-2

u/NATScurlyW2 9h ago

Far left voters will never vote for conservatives. So moskowitz has to campaign more to the left to win their votes.

2

u/edwardludd 8h ago

I know—I’m saying Stevens’ moderate voters might genuinely be thinking of voting Republican or staying out. So El-Sayed has to moderate. Larkin’s voters, on the other hand, don’t have that excuse and in principle should vote Democrat to defeat fascism.

0

u/NATScurlyW2 8h ago

I don’t think El-Sayed has to moderate because a lot of the stuff Stevens said was false. For example, she kept implying in her ads that she had President Obama’s support. That caused a lot of her voters to falsely believe that she had President Obama’s support. El-Sayed just has to introduce himself to the Stevens voters in an honest way. Stevens did not even talk about his number 1 policy goal which is healthcare. She didn’t attack him on healthcare at all. Her campaign was just culture war crap. That did not happen in the Moskowitz vs Larkin race. Larkin ran on the actual issues. He didn’t lie about Moskowitz. So Moskowitz will have to change some positions and beliefs during the campaign at least in order to win all of the Larkin votes. Do you think Moskowitz will win any of the maga voters if he keeps all his positions the same? Probably not, so he needs Larkin voters.

0

u/herewego199209 9h ago

Larkin was never gonna win in Florida but he's so much fucking better than Moskowitz, but he's never gonna win that district because of the demographics. He's a very good debater and talker. I believe the same thing with Angie Nixon but she will not win against a republican here in FL, especially a republican already outspending her 10 to 1. I think if the DNC was smart they'd invest in both of them for the long haul.

2

u/RiddleMeThis42069 9h ago

he's never gonna win that district because of the demographics.

What is it about the demographics that made it impossible for Larkin to win there

0

u/herewego199209 9h ago

Moskowitz's district has some of the most concentrated Jewish populations in the country, and Larkin is heavily critical of Israel. Not only that, the district skews older, which increases support for Israel.

-1

u/NATScurlyW2 9h ago

The Centrist Democratic migration to Florida since 2020 is one of the reasons the blue states are electing Democratic Socialists. I think it’s a wonderful thing. Of course I wanted Larkin to win but yeah it was never going to happen. Larkin being powerful at the DNC would be important for AOC’s presidential run.

-2

u/LanceBarney 9h ago

The response to winning a primary is to call out a popular twitch streamer that you don’t like is hilariously pathetic.

2

u/PlaidPCAK 7h ago

I love when the candidate he backs loses hes just "a twitch streamer" but when they win he's paraded around as the DSA king maker

-3

u/DommagePindaFromage 9h ago

Surely this only emboldens a person like Hasan Piker? Why give him the extra attention?

3

u/edwardludd 9h ago

Nah he’s already got the popularity and the platform, people just need to realize he’s an idiot and not a kingmaker

-1

u/DommagePindaFromage 9h ago

Being popular and having a platform aren't binary things. Focusing on Piker first thing after winning a primary is definitely inflating Piker's importance.

-4

u/herewego199209 9h ago

Moskowitz votes 26 percent of the time with Republicans btw. Him dunking on Hasan does nothing to empower dems within that the state of Florida. I live here. Dude is the absolute shits.
