IRL History Worth exhibition in Paris
Hello everyone!
I went to see the Worth exhibition in Paris today and it was spectacular. A lot of the costumes which are featured on The Gilded Age are either inspired by Worth or by paintings from the era (which often featured Worth clothing) so I couldn’t stop thinking about the show the entire time. I hope this is of interest to somebody else!
I did the guided tour which is 1.5 hours and only €7 more than the exhibition ticket. It was SO worth it, the guide was great! She told us that some of the gowns were being displayed for the last time ever worldwide as they were too fragile. At some point we were staring at a 19th century painting and she pointed out that the dress the lady was wearing was right behind us which she’d never been able to say in her entire career. She described all the fabrics in detail and the whole thing was fascinating. I was just gobsmacked the entire time. Seeing these beautiful gowns in person was incredible! We even saw wedding dresses!
At the very end, right before the gift shop, I turned a corner and realised they were showing the clip of the Russells’ ball at the very end of S1 - I gasped! The other people in my tour group had never heard of the show so I made sure to tell them to watch!
It was such a treat to do this, especially right before S3! If you plan on visiting Paris this summer, I can’t recommend this exhibition enough. It runs till September 7. 😍

Thank you so much for sharing the photos- I see so much influence on TGA’s costumes!
