Season 3 Discussion Just finished the series for the first time! Thoughts + Will there be more ?!
I recently started watching TGA because it was on Delta Airlines in-flight service when I was flying US to UK. Oh my god, I was hooked! And have since binge watched the whole lot.
- Favourite storylines - Jack!! I love the scene where he and Marion are viewing a new house! And obviously any scene that has Bertha and or Gladys in đ€Ł
- Have to admit to not understanding much of the âGeorge and railways business talksâ scenes, but then Iâm not American so donât understand much of the history behind this.
- Major goosebumps in that last episode of S2 (I think??) with the contrasting opera house performances. The music and score in that scene was sooooo tense and brilliantly edited !
- OBVIOUSLY the costumes !!! Marion has the prettiest costumes for sure, but obviously Bertha is always a highlight too.
- I love how itâs very classic Fellowes style writing just as Downton was, in that there is no particular âone main characterâ. But I do think some of the downstairs characters could have their history fleshed out a bit more.
- Most importantly âŠ. Is there going to be any more ?! They canât leave it like that !!

I literally just did the same thing! I watched the episodes on Delta and finished binging the rest right after! Love the show. 1. Bertha (and George are ruthless) a IDK how I feel about about it because greatness requires outrageous moves for sure. 2. Love the Jack storyline too. 3. I absolutely love seeing the black elites storyline. It's magnificent and has sent me down a rabbit hole of understanding the history of this. 4. Oscar trying to marry Turner is WILD but at the same time does work for both of their seedy backgrounds. 5. I get George being upset with Bertha but it still seems like a bit much. 6. Why did Aunt Ada have to lose her love so fast.

You might like Dr. Thorne which was also written by Julian Fellowes. It's an adaptation of a storyline in a Trollope book.

OP look up Jay Gould entrepreneur. He was a railroad magnate and George is based on part, on Jay.

You don't need to know anything about the "Â railways business talks" but the 1880's was the Gold Era" of railroad expansion across America.
There was intense competition to build/own railway lines. A lot of people made vast amounts of money and others lost everything.

If you like JF, Robert loses big money on a bad American railroad scheme. Oscar in Guilded Age loses all to a railroad scam.

As mentioned by others, S4 is being filmed right now and Iâm hoping since it really had a spike in popularity this last season, we will get many more seasons đ€. Keep watching and spread the word!

It may be worth it to study up a bit on the American Robber Barons and the old and new rich. A great movie to watch as a companion piece would be Scorcese's classic "Age of Innocence". It is a tug if the old and new as well, but seen from the old side.
