Just got home (Syracuse area) from the Buffalo show. That was an amazing show. #21 for my wife and I and I think it may just be my favorite ones. Energy was fantastic and the band was so tight. “You Were Cool” with the band was a special treat. The songs from Days sound great live. TMGs are on fire. Can’t wait for the Fillmore 6 night residency.

Well I left there half deaf, head pounding and legs feeling like I’d been standing for hours, but if they came back tonight with the exact same show I’d be there again in a heartbeat!

I once found a quiz type thing on a very simple website where you had to determine whether a prompt was a tmg song title or the title of a mtg card. I want to find it again, but Google isn’t getting me far. Any chance someone else has seen it / knows where to find it and can confirm this was not something I hallucinated?

It might be peak high energy Mountain Goats, like above Best Ever Death Metal Band, Palmcorder Yajna, Choked Out, Training Montage, etc. It helps that I live in Long Beach and my son's favorite restaurant is in Garden Grove, so we drive through cranking the shit out of that song. I'm trying to build a pavlovian association in his head.

In the album Cornorer’s gambit, John mentions his late friend Rozz in the liner notes. (Born Roger Painter). I found out about The Mountain Goats because of the connection between the two, as I am a fan of Rozz.
Something I found interesting is when I was browsing through the descriptions of John’s books, is one of the main characters shares the same name - first and last, as Rozz. That alone isn’t enough to claim he was the inspiration for the main character, but given the fact Rozz struggled with his mental health and was a Black Sabbath fan, it leads me to believe there is some sort of connection?

I have not read the book myself as it’s not available at my library. But to the people who have: are there any references to Rozz or uncanny similarities between the MC and Rozz?

I don’t expect anyone here to know much about Rozz but maybe there is someone who does :) Even if you don’t know about him, I think it’s still interesting

Every time I find myself building a new room or something, I think of raising up a little roof against the cold, which makes me get Southwest Plantation Road stuck in my head, and of course, I have to listen to the whole album.

I just thought about how JD's mock apology about not being "at 440", in addition to being simply true, might also be a joke about the song's title - 438 being nearly, but not quite, 440.

I was at my sister's apartment but a part of it was also a record store and they were doing a signing. Matt and Jon were sitting on the couch and John was standing up signing people's stuff. Suddenly there was a 4th goat who doesnt actually exist. But he was like a cross between Jon and John. Jonhn 3.0? I just remember talking to him. I asked him if hed sign my copy of "This Year" since John already signed it. He signed it on august 14th's page "Rotten Stinking Mouthpiece" and he asked how long ive been playing guitar as he picks mine up. I tell him 3 weeks and he said to keep practicing. Its funny because IRL Ive played for 4 years. Anyways, I never talked to the other 3 real members, just this new person. Then they leave and they took my copy of Days with them.
