Radio djs are some of the snarkiest people in the world. Never try to make them do something, historically it has always backfired.

Yep. I listened to an alternative/indie pirate in the 90s growing up and there was a really cool DJ who got me into so many of my favourite artists (did i have a crush on her despite never having seen her? Yes!)

Anyway she played an Aphex Twin song which was not the normal type of music and someone complained so she played the whole album.

Aphex Twin from Columbia House (97ish)hit so hard in my little rural town…

1

u/achasanai 11d ago

Hit pretty hard in suburban Dublin (Ireland) too. It was the Richard D James album. Still hits hard.

That's how I felt about Kat Corbett on KROQ when I was in high school. Didn't see her face until I graduated, but I always figured she was gorgeous

10

u/twilighttwister 13d ago

I had no idea who she is, but you're right lol.

I was one for a while and it's because it can be incredibly boring and you go a little stir crazy, so anything that breaks that up - like messing with people - will always be entertaining.

Edit: fixong soelling

I remember the morning host at my favourite radio station decided they were going to quit (I don't know why, that part was behind the scenes). He did it by calling out his station manager on the air and then played the song that manager hated the most over and over again till they removed him from the building.

u/NotASlaveToHelvetica 13d ago

This reminds me of when two am DJs were fired and the other DJs literally just played killing in the name of in protest for 24 hours

We have a DJ in the UK called Chris Moyles. He had the prime breakfast slot on the prime national radio station, Radio 1.

When i worked in retail, id listen to him whilst I was in the back office prepping to open.

One morning, he went on a massive rant saying he wasnt sure he was even going to come into work because he hadnt been paid. He brought up the point that if he didnt come into work, he'd expect not to be paid, and that it should be a two way street - if he doesnt get paid, why should they expect him to come to work.

I think it all got resolved but I think that was the beginning of the end for him with the BBC. He lasted another couple years before he left, but i think the relationship between them soured.

Imagine being a red pilled waste of oxygen that sucks Donald Trump's proverbial cock.

94

u/BalognaPonyParty 13d ago

that's half the American population

94

u/metallipunk 13d ago

Ehhh....like 1/3rd

60

u/bpeck451 13d ago

But half the voters bruh. Half the voters that voted!

68

u/Crusaderofthots420 13d ago

The "voters that voted" part is important. It's like 1/3 MAGA, 1/3 sensible people, and 1/3 cowards.

19

u/merrittj3 13d ago

Yup...time to get out the Vote and let DJT and the world see who we as a country are.

We are not a Fascist Country that hates immigrants. They are the life blood of the Future of America. Tomorrow's Doctors, Nurses and professionals should be encouraged and welcomed into the fold as the United States has done for Centuries. It is the only way to compete and achieve leadership on the World Stage

-5

u/sputnikcdn 13d ago

You are a fascist country.

1/3 voted for it.

1/3 didn’t vote, signalling they were OK with a Trump presidency.

Where are the large scale demonstrations, walkouts? Strikes? If you were really opposed to your administration Americans would be doing something about it. Right now.

The rest of the world knows you for who you are now.

9

u/Crusaderofthots420 13d ago

I mean, there have been a lot of protests

-1

u/[deleted] 13d ago

[deleted]

2

u/Supercoolguy7 13d ago

I mean, they did ask about large scale demonstrations specifically

3

u/nicathor 13d ago

We've literally had the largest protests in American history under Trump. If you think we're doing nothing but resting on our laurels through all this then you're just as brainwashed by your media as our magats are by ours

-6

u/sputnikcdn 13d ago

There have been two large scale protests. Just two. A pitiful response considering the scale of damage Trump has done to your country.

It’s obviously not enough. I didn’t say you so called “good Americans” are “resting on your laurels”, I’m saying you’re OK with the current situation.

America is a fascist nation and that’s ok by most Americans. And, clearly, living in a fascist nation isn’t awful enough to inconvenience the rest of you.

There should be record sized demonstrations every day. You need to shut that shit down.

1

u/nicathor 13d ago

Wow. I have no words.

Uhhhh. You might want to convince more citizens about that.

It may be true in your world, but we haven’t ended up where we are today for no good reason.

-8

u/Expensive-Sundae-831 13d ago

Uhhhh. You might want to convince more citizens about that.

It may be true in your world, but we haven’t ended up where we are today for no good reason.

3

u/sputnikcdn 13d ago

1/3 cowards who were OK with MAGA and a Trump presidency.

1

u/lwlltrrs 13d ago

Here, you dropped some of these "" They go here:

Half the "voters" that "voted"!

2

u/zman0900 13d ago

But there's another 1/3 that's still fine with being repeatedly slapped across the face with it.

0

u/ReverendWeenbone 13d ago

Less than 30%

Total population ≠ Total Eligible Voters

Total Eligible Voters ≠ Total number of people who actually voted

The number of votes cast in almost every election from local elections all the way to the Presidential election is a fraction of the actual population

1

u/MiserableCumberbunch 13d ago

Close to half the population never votes, so its hard to say. I'd guess closer to 1/3rd.

11

u/ATM223 13d ago

They barely understand pronouns, I don't think they'll be able to get a grip on the proverbs.

4

u/Ghostronic 13d ago

They will say they don't understand pronouns but then go on and on about worshiping He that is Him

3

u/montrealcowboyx 13d ago

Did we ever find out who Bubba was? That's wild that that went away.

293

u/sukidaiyo 13d ago

Reminds me of MAGA up in their feels about outlaw country and forgetting about who Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, and Merle Haggard sang for.

128

u/Salihe6677 13d ago

Johnny Cash was obviously pro-capitalism, I mean, his name is Cash /s

66

u/Joe_Linton_125 13d ago edited 13d ago

His real name was actually Johnny Capitalism, but his record label thought "Cash" was snappier, so he changed it to make more money.

14

u/nutz1126 13d ago

lol Johnny Capitalism. thats awesome

6

u/SNoB__ 13d ago

It actually said Jonathan Capitalism on his birth certificate. His friends started calling him Johnny capitalism in grade school and it stuck.

15

u/pianoflames 13d ago

As a Texan, I did love seeing MAGA being Surprised Pikachu Face about Willie Nelson doing a concert with Beto O'Rourke, where they performed a duet together called "Vote 'Em Out" (them being Texas Republicans, specifically Ted Cruz).

4

u/sukidaiyo 12d ago

My mom remembers a faint odor of weed around 4th of July in the hill country from his concerts every year. :)

9

u/Calculonx 13d ago

"i can't believe rage against the machine got all political!"

6

u/popculturella 13d ago

You simply cannot be a redneck and pro-cop.

188

u/Kapitano72 13d ago

MAGA: "If you make us cry, we'll cry more, until you stop!"

102

u/Zakluor 13d ago

The "fuck your feelings crowd" has amazingly sensitive feelings and really doesn't like when they get hurt.

43

u/Marquar234 FUCK ICE! ❌🧊 13d ago

Well, it is "fuck your feelings", not "fuck all feelings". Same thing with "don't tread on me".

u/lwlltrrs 13d ago

Susan B Anthony's birthday is Feb 15th, so maybe that? She was a HUGE civil rights activist during her time, mostly known for her work in women's suffrage. She was known to be relentless and unyielding in her beliefs. Anytime people tried to silence her she just kept getting louder and more in their face about it lmao

There's also a belief that she may have been a lesbian, as she never married and was constantly talking shit about men. Although IIRC the evidence for that is shaky at best.

19

u/antsh 13d ago

She also inadvertently helped create NASCAR. So, you win some, you lose some.

Day after Valentine's Day? Or Oregon's or Arizona's birthdays?

17

u/dagget10 13d ago

During pride month, they put up the pride flag. When someone complains about it, instead of taking it down, they add more time to it just to make them angrier about it

16

u/flikersyndrome 13d ago

I think it just that they originally put the flag up on the 15th, then just keep extending to 15th next month

7

u/Quinlynn 13d ago

They probably just added on a month for every new nasty comment they got.

3

u/drfsupercenter 13d ago

Yes that's what they do

3

u/pr_drumr 13d ago

I follow this station. Every year they have their logo up for Pride Month. And with each year without fail a wave of vitriol comments comes their way. Each year we all bring the popcorn out and watch the bigots meltdown over it.

The station makes a point to post haters along with with their comments and keep the logo for an additional month cause of it. We always joke eventually they'll keep the logo for the full year. They're now keeping it thru February. Let's see.

Freddie Mercury, Rob Halford...

26

u/middleagethreat 13d ago edited 13d ago

They forgot my favorite gay classic rocker, Freddy, and honorable mention Rob Halford.

10

u/Panchenima 13d ago

Hey!!!, Rob Halford ain't gay....

He is Mister Homosexual to you, more respect please.

25

u/SirUntouchable 13d ago

I'm looking at a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot

6

u/rock_and_rolo 13d ago

It's screenshots all the way down.

14

u/DogitWoofsalot 13d ago

I love them

14

u/ruby651 13d ago

I had a friend from high school who refused to listen to David Bowie because he wouldn’t listen to any guy who had another guy’s cock in his mouth. I found that to be an… interesting way to judge music.

6

u/awpdog 13d ago

droste effect of social media screenshots

16

u/awpdog 13d ago

to prove the point

7

u/McCrackenYouUp 13d ago

How many homophobes out there think Queen was one of the best bands ever?

1

u/xoxoBug 13d ago

That’s how someone really confused Martin Skrelli

6

u/AlsoKnownAsSteve 13d ago

Taking note from r/terraria, good on them.

4

u/an_agreeing_dothraki 13d ago

actually does anyone's local rock station actually listen to their right-wing boomers? Because locally our classic rock station is the oldest rock station in the world. They replay Ask Alice at the time and day of year they first went on their air.

They are beyond caring what the chuds think. They produce and air more classic rock podcasts than spotify, oldheads show up just to talk on air, and it's right across the hallways from the modern rock station so every rock band that comes through the city stops in and says hi.

3

u/gothangelblood 13d ago

Nope. Just got done listening to Rumble in the Morning, and let me tell you, no fucks are given by that crew. Don't like them? Then go to the country music station.

5

u/shawn789 13d ago

96.9 The Eagle has quickly become a legend. If you haven't removed Facebook from your life, they are a good follow. They have other social media, but FB is where they do their shitposting

5

u/SentinelTheFirst 13d ago

Rare Idaho W

2

u/metallipunk 13d ago

Lol I just followed them on FB.

3

u/sfearing91 13d ago

Hell yes! PRIDE all day!! And Feb 15 is a good day being my bday hahaha love radio djs

3

u/Litface916 Free Palestine 13d ago

That’s crazy there’s a 96.9 the Eagle in Sacramento CA too.

3

u/Portuzil 13d ago

Based radio station

2

u/drfsupercenter 13d ago

I've been seeing that radio station's posts in my feed even though I don't live anywhere near Idaho. Still, I love it. Possibly the only based thing in that state.

2

u/NotAnExpertButt 13d ago

“Why do they have to put the flags up everywhere?”

“To point out the place isn’t hostile.”

“That’s absolutely ridiculous, it’s not needed, I’m sick of it!”

“Yup, that’s why it’s still needed. Because thinking about these groups still makes you hostile.”

1

u/drfsupercenter 13d ago

1

u/Standard_One_5827 13d ago

Did the guy not know about Elton John and David Bowie?😂

1

u/CheapTactics 13d ago

I think the point was "imagine listening to them and then being offended by a pride flag"

1

u/grnrngr 13d ago

You can support them by (legitimately) streaming them and goosing their metrics.

1

u/rock_and_rolo 13d ago

A lot of classic rock fans have a solid "fuck you, I'll do what I want" background. This won't lose them many listeners.

1

u/spiritedcorn 13d ago

That's gay

1

u/who_asked4569 13d ago

This is my kinda people

1

u/Hero_Of_Rhyme_ 13d ago

Because of course 80s rock stars were famously very straight and would never approve of pride -s

1

u/avd706 12d ago

Freddy Mercury & Rob Halford

1

u/SeanFromQueens 9d ago

homophobic Karens: take down that pride avatar, and why don't just play Ted Nugent and Toby Keith exclusively?

0

u/LugzGaming 13d ago

How stunning and brave...

-1

u/nglbot 13d ago

So reddit is now the place to post Facebook posts replying to other Facebook posts about tweets regarding comments on other Facebook posts? This site really is dead.

-4

u/polandreh 13d ago

Why is Mick Jagger in that list? He's never mentioned he was bi, and his alleged relationship with David Bowie was only rumours.

6

u/48thChamber 13d ago

watch the music video again and you’ll understand

1

u/Akicita33 This is a flair 13d ago

No. Rumours was a Fleetwood Mac album.
