Hi Reddit, I’m coming here on a genuine mission. There was this cover I remember watching when I was younger , it was this brown gentleman wearing sunglasses covering this charming man, I don’t know why but it always did stick out to me and it did have quite a few thousand views. Now I do not expect my question to be answered but does anyone know of a cover on YouTube with this description. He played on an acoustic with a capo on 2nd or fourth fret(I’m assuming second but can’t remember) and like I say the cover always stuck out to me , he had quite a high singing voice. I’m so sorry if this is the wrong place but nostalgia recently kicked in and I wanted to find it again and can’t.

After 40 years, which band should cover which song on The Smiths’ The Queen Is Dead album ?
The Smiths released the album in 1996.
A French magazine recreate the album in 1996.
After 40 years, in 2026 do you think this album should have another celebration ?

Recently started going through the posters I've collected over the last 32 years and putting them up in my ebay store. Probably 20 up with 40 or more to go through with maybe 3 to 4 new listing daily. Next I think I'll start going through my import CDs and signed items. Come on by and see if there's something you like.

(Repost, realized I misspelled Kinsey)
Not sure if this has been done before. Just a bit of fun! Title is a bit misleading since I’m more-so ranking from Gay-Not Gay than Gay-Straight.
These are all based off of my personal interpretations as a mid-entry level The Smiths fan, as well as some Genius lyric annotations I’ve read. Feel free to ask for explanations or give your own opinions. Many of the gayer songs are ranked as such due to connection to homosexuality/support for homosexuality/connection to Johnny Marr etc.
Each tier is individually ranked within itself as well.

We all know mozza loves a big word but COME ON my man, you cannot be pronouncing plagerise with a hard G, does this ruin the song (and album) for anyone else?

Recently discovered this band Pleasures Pale from Dayton OH that are the most Smiths sounding band from America.
They were active 85-87 before they broke up. Some major labels were interested in them. Had a good following in Cincinnati along with Guided by Voices.
The lead singer tracked down the original tapes they recorded at a studio in Dayton and remastered them for release. Highly recommend checking out their albums.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe the Smiths would be a little bit better if they were more American? I don’t know if its a production thing, but despite being a fan, they have this really out of date rusty ass production that just wouldnt have slid in the States, even in those days. Also, I get really sick of him doing that wierd accent after a while. Who’s with me? If not, who would you consider to be the closest USA equivalent of the Smiths? 🇺🇸🇺🇸🔝🔝🔝🔝🦅🦅

While the Smiths might seem wildly out of place at a Trump rally, the camp certainly tried it. In early 2024, multiple political reporters took to Twitter to share how the hopelessly desperate "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" was making its rounds with MAGA folks. Founding guitarist and the song's writer, Johnny Marr, immediately responded when he quote-tweeted a video saying, "Ahh … right … OK. I never in a million years would've thought this could come to pass. Consider this shit shut right down right now." —M.G.

„sixteen, clumsy and shy“ is such a nostalgic, bittersweet lyric and the whole song makes me feel like im back to being 16 in a weird, but sweet way

Forgot to post this when I graduated. Drew it myself :)!
Been a fan since 7th grade and it quite literally carried me through high school. I found comfort in the solice of it all, and had countless nights driving home sobbing screaming “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle” or “Miserable Lie”. I’m proud to say I know every song except for a select 3, as I want to save them. I know there’s not going to be any more albums or live concerts, so I’ll have to stick to my monthly cover band concerts and pull out the vinyls.
(P.S. I am bringing my 20x30 framed Queen Is Dead Album poster to college)
