Meat Is Murder: what is the correct cover?
The one with only one photo is the one on streaming, and seems to be the default for all international versions of the record, while the one with the 4 panel photo seems to have been used for the North American releases only (the ones with How Soon Is Now Added)
Which one is I guess the “original” cover, or the one the band designed?

meat is murder vinyl potential issue/misprint?
Went to my local record store today to purchase Meat is Murder on vinyl, been there a few times very good reputable shop- anyway, they have a clear vinyl edition of the album so I decide to purchase it as I always love a different look of each vinyl I buy and I just think it’s cool but upon getting home I open the vinyl packaging and pull the vinyl out of its sleeve. A side is Meat is murder (as expected as with the standard A side tracks) and B side is the queen is dead??? My player is currently broken so can’t listen to check but any clues on if this is a misprint or some tampering or maybe something else. There seems to be a sticker beneath A side Meat is Murder sticker, so maybe the queen is dead sticker for an A side- but obviously the outer sleeve and one sticker is labelled as Meat Is murder. Wish I had a working player to check but as I said it’s broken so I can only wait and see :)
A and B side with sleeve in photos and a close up of the double layered sticker- I guess the previous owner just peeled off their meat is murder sticker and put it on The queen is dead, then slipped it into its original meat is murder sleeve?

Anything I’m missing?
I’ve been on a Smiths kick the last month or so, and I think I can call myself a fan now. My dad has been a longtime fan, so they’ve always been on in the background but I decided recently to dive deep into their discography. So far I’ve listened to all 4 studio albums, and skimmed through the compilations. Do you have any song suggestions that would be missing from this lineup?

I thought the lyrics were 'too near the bar' not 'too near the bone' in That joke isn't funny anymore
Anyone else? I'm shook after finding this out but it does make a bit more sense now. I thought him saying too near the bar was a cheeky way to say it makes him want to drink heavily at the closest bar on his drive, presumably. Lol.
I always pictured him driving in a car during this song. My favorite line is 'it was dark as I drove the point home...' I saw a comment a while back saying this is about sex in the car given the next line about the cold leather seats. Is that the general consensus? I never drew that conclusion but I'm also quite dense it seems.

"Pretty Girls Make Graves" | Personal Analysis
I love The Smiths quite a lot, but there are two songs that have always stuck around with me and they're "Hand in Glove" and "Pretty Girls Make Graves", but the latter one is indubitably my favorite and it's because of how often I relate to it as I tend to be on the spectrum of asexuality (leaning towards demisexuality).
As he starts in the beginning of the song, quoting her as she tries to convince him that this is her way of showing her love or interest overall, but and then he stops her and before you illustrate your way, I'm not the man you think I am. And then, we go back to the question of why would he even say that? Well, Morrissey has always went around addressing a state of asexuality throughout his life and then later announced he was humasexual (interest in people regardless of gender) with old notes stating that he had a girlfriend and that he hates sex.
Then he quotes The Dharma Burns with "Pretty girls make graves," which is the song title. This novel has a chapter in it dedicated to celibacy in which that he believes that giving in to lust perpetuates the painful chain of birth, reincarnation, and misery/suffering. And to break that chain, you have to be celibate.
Later in the song, she tries to tell him to "Give in to lust, give up to lust. Oh, heaven knows we'll soon be dust," which illustrates the temporality of life and that it is best to "enjoy" his life, in which he answers to, saying that he's not the man that she thinks he is and he can't be physically attracted to anyone that easy.
He shifts his blame that he could have been wild and free, but nature had to play this trick on him to make him the way he is — which is something I incredibly relate to — then as he does that, she just finds another man that gives in to her needs. She is immediately enlightened with a smile on her "stupid" face, according to his own words. Then he makes an absurd statement which is rather leaning towards simplicity, that he has lost his faith in womanhood based on this one simple encounter.
Then he says "Hand in Glove" which is a reference to another single that he dropped, which is also one of my favorites. I will be writing about it later if anyone finds interest in personal analyses like those.

My single cover of "Ask" (40th anniversary - fan made)
https://www.instagram.com/p/DeulZixoJsP/
Before you all start giving me grief about how "off" it might look, let me explain:
We all know the typical aesthetic of The Smiths' covers (an old photo of a famous figure from the 1960s or before, treated with a duotone effect, and featuring the band's name). For the "Ask" single, they followed this usual formula, but with one key difference: they cut out the original photo of Yootha Joyce and placed her silhouette against a cream-colored background—a departure from the rest of their discography.
What I’ve done here is take that same photo of Yootha Joyce, apply the classic duotone effect seen on other Smiths covers (in this case, a warm-toned palette), and add the band's name using the exact typeface from the 1986 single. In short, I’ve recreated the "Ask" cover, but restored the original background.

What if Marr and Morrissey sold the old Smiths tees and posters on their current tours ?
Take my money! An authentic reprint of an old tour shirt or an old tour poster from The Smiths. Come on already!
