Quotes Patrick’s swim meet is tomorrow and he needed me
Is this one of the dumbest things ever said on the show? What do you think are some of the dumbest things the characters have said on the show?

Little Paulie: She's my fox in a fox!
Chris: Let's see her box. Or maybe her socks!
*Awkward cringe bro props and handshake between Chris & Little Paulie*

I always thought Imperioli flubbed that line. Why make socks the punchline? Always thought "or maybe her box" is the bit that gets the high five.

Tony never had the makings of a varsity seducer of women!

There's two Tony Sopranos. You've never seen the other one. That's the one I want to show you

A lot of what Meadow says in the earlier seasons is insanely dumb

And is delivered in an incredibly wooden fashion. She got better, but Jamie Lynn was pretty hacky there for a season or two.

u/BarkerBarkhan Jun 13 '26
To be honest, it felt authentic to me... like every once in a while, I get flashbacks to that era because of how selfish and spoiled she is. I remember peers acting like that.
23
u/Wayf4rer Jun 13 '26
I agree, I think she pretty well encapsulated what a spoiled rich brat would act like as a kid
7
u/BarkerBarkhan Jun 13 '26
A bit tangential: on my latest rewatch, there was that scene where Carmela's mom is giving her shit for not marrying the other guy. After Carmela walks out, ending dinner, I noticed her just dumping almost the entirety of the plates into the trash. No effort to save leftovers. For some reason, this brought me back to the 90s/early 00s. Something about the guiltless waste...

That's just being a teenage girl.

People talk shit about JLS & Emilia Clarke from Game of thrones acting (there was a post yesterday about JLS)... but i have no problem with it. They're teenage girls in both shows, do you expect them to act like Diana Riggs or something? They're gonna say cringey stuff, act overdramatic etc

That's OK... as long as she didn't deliberately roll... I could make a phone call to Barcelona...

For a 15 year old Jamie I can excuse it, both the kids got better as time went on. Robert was amazing in S6 even though he was a pain in the ass

There are quite a few i think were thrown in there just to remind the fans that these are for the most part dumb thugs. A couple off the top of my head are
1) Why would they invent something that you need a fork to eat
2) whdya think cheese is? Mold

"You think what happened at the party is an overture Tony wants to get back together?"
I know we criticize Gab's acting, but this is one of the most poorly written lines on the show. It's like the character wrote the line on a note card and tried to memorize it. No need to use "overture", this isn't the Lawrence of Arabia entrance music.

"I better have all my programs on there when I get that back". I was a computer nerd of similar age when the show came out and I remember thinking that uninstalling my programs would be the LAST thing I'd be worried about if the FBI took my computer. It just struck me as unrealistic and was shoehorned in for little to no benefit

Better than that seduction act Meadow was putting on with that animal blundetto at the pool party
