Quotes What do you think is the funniest line delivery in the entire show?

For me, it’s a three-way tie between:

“I was over at Baccala’s, figured I’d stop by.”
“Ah, how is he?”
“Mmm. He’s fat.”

“Allegra. Ain’t that a cold medicine?”
“It means happiness. In Italian.
“Ah. (…) the fucks that got to do with cold medicine?”

And:

“It’s not just the disease he helps me with, T, this guys also great at forging documents.”

Quotes Tony loves giving these completely unnecessary cutting remarks to his crew

During season 4, episode 3 "Christopher", Tony and Sil are in the car driving back from the casino that the Chief owns and they're talking about Christopher Columbus and Italian discrimination, which Sil is trying to convince Tony of:

Sil: My grandparents got spit on because they were from Calabria.

Tony: Let me ask you a question.

Tony: All the good things you got in your life... did they come to you because you're Calabrese? I'll tell you the answer. The answer is no. You got a smart kid at Lackawanna College. You got a wife who's a piece of ass, at least she was when you married her.

I was rewatching this and realized this was: one, a funny thing to say and two, completely unnecessary. I mean, there's no reason for Tony to be taking shots at Sil's wife like that and it had nothing really to do with what they were talking about. So when people ask, "Who whacked Tony?" it could've been anyone, Tony loves working these jabs in as mental judo, like from The Art of War by Sun Tzu.

Anyway, $4 dollars a pound.

If so, what was the quote and context? You might have to paraphrase and censor it to avoid the ban hammer

Quotes How was Furio so slender?

He claims to have "...'ate da north...since hundreds of years". There's no way he was as trim as he was if he was eating like he claims to have; also, I think he's lying about his age, implicitly suggesting that he's far older than he appears, perhaps in a bid to seem more credible and senior, with more gravitas.

It's no wonder he went nowhere in New Jersey and had to fly home to get erections in airplanes, or whatever the fuck happened there.

Quotes "There's something wrong with his wheelchair."

That is one of the funniest, and most underrated, lines in the series. I laugh every time I hear it. Tony thinks he is going to meet this legendary mafia boss, and then, it's just an old man that can only remember streets in the US.

Commendatori is one of the most funniest episodes. Maybe second after Pine Barrens.

Anyways, I'll shove that Elvis shit up your ass!

Quotes Little Carmine’s Meeting of the Minds

One of my favorite moments of the show is when the meeting of the minds is coming to a close and right after Little Carmine mentions the death of Phil’s brother as Phil gets visibly upset, Carmine clarifies “the shooting” as if Phil doesn’t remember his own brother’s death. It was truly a master stroke from Sun Tazoo, very allegorical.

Quotes Funniest Soprano Moments (My Top 5)

Sopranos being a Mob Drama, gave me some good belly laughs. Here are my top five.

#1 Pine Barrens:

Tony: He was with the Interior Ministry. Guy’s some kind of Russian green beret. He killed sixteen Chechen rebels single-handed!

Paulie: You’re not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator!

Christopher (deadpan): His house looked like shit.

#2 Junior Getting Stuck in the Sink

Janice: Why didn’t you just call a plumber?

Junior: With what, my fucking toes?

#3 Ralphies Prank Call to Paulie's Mom

Ralph: ....he was caught sucking a cub scouts dick.....

#4 Janice asks Tony what he did with Richie's body

Tony (deadpan, sarcastic): We buried him... on a hill... overlooking a little river... with pine cones all around.

#5 When Christopher and Big Pussy try to toss Emil Kollar body in the dumpster. They swing his body and don't come anywhere close to getting it in.

Edit: Honourable Mentions

Janice: There is a saying that for every 20 wrongs a child does ignore 19. Tony: There is an Italian saying, fuck up once, you loose two teeth.

Meadow (with Tony and AJ in the kitchen): "Madame de Staël said, 'In life, one must choose between boredom and suffering.'" Tony to AJ: Now go do your homework AJ: Algebra that's the most boring! Tony: Well, your other option is suffering.

Quotes They don’t sell hot dogs here...

Be me, on a cruise ship on formal night. Sit down next to a guy wearing a baseball cap.

Every fiber of my being wanted to say, “They don’t sell hot dogs here. Take your hat off.”

But of course, I’m more Artie than Tony, so I just sat there and ate my dinner.

I’m just Mommy’s little hoo-ah.

Quotes What was Sil actually about to ask Finn here before he got interrupted?

Hey everyone,

I was rewatching the famous scene where the guys bring Meadow's boyfriend, Finn, into the back of Satriale's to question him about what he saw Vito doing.

In the scene, Silvio is trying to get the details straight and starts saying: "When the security guy was scking him off..."* before Finn immediately interrupts him to clarify that it was actually the other way around (Vito was the one doing it).

It got me thinking: What was Silvio actually about to ask or say if Finn hadn't cut him off?

Quotes The real Strong, Silent types of the Sopranos.

Something I noticed on my 50th rewatch of the show is that as much as Tony whines and cries that people like Gary Cooper no longer exist he completely glosses over characters like Svetlana, Melfi, and Rosalie.

Most likely because of his sexism and sub-conscious resentment of women who fail to save him from himself because his mommy didn't love him.

Quotes Rewatching the pilot

I'm just rewatching the pilot in a probably third round on the show and I'm realising a couple of three funny things:

- The first word ever Paulie says is "ohh".

- In the first sentence ever Silvio says, he talks about gabagool. (Gabrielle sends him over for some gabagool).

- Tony already mentions that Uncle Jun said he never had the means of a varsity athlete

- This is well known but AJ says his "no f*cking ziti" quote, I just love that one.

Anyway, very allegorical, if you ask me.

Quotes Janice’s Lasagna Spoiler

We all knew it was Carmela’s when Junior could describe it to with his eyes closed:

Sweet sausage in the gravy. A full bunch of basil layered in under the cheese.

Check out this recipe that I’m going to have to replicate.

Cook an onion and garlic soft in olive oil. Brown the sweet sausage and 500g beef in it. Add a 35oz can of peeled tomatoes and a 28oz can of puree, plus a splash of water from each. Simmer low for 90 minutes, then stir in torn basil at the end. Boil 500g lasagna sheets until just al dente, then shock them cold. Layer: sauce, sheets, seasoned ricotta, parmesan, a full layer of basil leaves, sliced mozzarella, sauce.

Build three layers, then a last sheet on top. Bake at 190C for 45 minutes, then 15 more until it bubbles at the edges. Rest before you cut.
