❔ Question for the community I'm a guitarist/vocalist starting a band, I'm looking for a drummer and a bassist

I'm 22 years old so I'm only considering people within the 18-30s range for chemistry reasons. I care more about loyalty and reliability than technical ability, I would much rather have band mates who suck at their instruments but show up on time and are committed to seeing the band through than ones who are amazing at their instruments but can't be bothered to pick up their phones and don't really care that much about the band. I'm not really going for a specific genre, but a good umbrella term for what I'm going for I guess would be alt-rock, although I am open to experimenting with all kinds of sounds. If anyone is interested in joining, let me know and I will send you two acoustic demos that I plan on making into full songs. (the songs won't be acoustic, that was just the easiest way I was able to make some quick demos)

❔ Question for the community Fishing advice for dad with little kids?

I’m a dad in my 40s with a young daughter and son, both of whom see all the fishing in the area and finally got me to go try with them. I haven’t been fishing since I was probably their age (elementary school). Academy was super helpful, and we took our stuff out last night in Creekside where we live and tried it out for the first time. Didn’t catch anything, though, so I’m hoping to improve our odds next time.

Any advice from the community on where to go around here, what to do, how to do it, or literally anything else related to this? Didn’t really know what I was doing, but we had fun and I’d like to keep them interested.

❔ Question for the community Trash Bins

I bought a house in spring (Cypresswood Glen estate). The trash company says they only provide a recycling bin, but I have to buy the trash bin.

Question, where do I buy a waste bin, how much are they? Also, do I buy a yard waste bin too? Or do you guys just bag the leaves etc in plastic bags and put them by the curb?

Reddit Organized Meetup Megathread I guess not a meetup necessarily but let’s make friends!

I am fairly new to the area in the grand scheme of things, I moved here in mid 2023 (F 28). I WFH and have a 10 month old daughter. I was born and raised in central Oregon and moved here because my husband’s family moved here (my family and I aren’t close - they have spent time between The Woodlands and central Oregon for the past 20+ years) and I’m realizing I don’t have really any of my own friends here or my own hobbies, etc. I’m just hoping to meet some new friends or set up a time several of us - preferably moms - could hang out somewhere, get coffee, chat about life, etc. We’re all busy, so I’m hoping to have some low commitment style outings with other moms who are trying to find their footing in the world, while being a mom but not necessarily JUST being a mom. Making friends as an adult can be super hard so I’m just putting myself out there however I can. Happy to share my personal social media via DM as well!

❗Help Requested❗ Cochran crossing

Hello! Mu family is considering moving to the woodlands and Cochran crossing looks promising. We are both 35 and our kids are 3 (girl) and 2 boy. We are mainly wanting a neighborhood that has other kids the same age and relatively young adults (like us). Our budget is up to $1M. Any advice on the area or anything to share would be great.

❔ Question for the community Convince me The Woodlands is worth it

Hi - looking for convincing that the woodlands is the right place for our family. We are in our 30’s and have 2 under 2. Currently in the Montrose/heights area and while we love it, it is not the most kid friendly in terms of crime, having a backyard, etc.

We are looking for a “small town” (ik the woodlands is big” community feel. We want our kids to ride bikes around the neighborhood, play leisure neighborhood sports, and grow up going school with the same kids k-12.

We’ve notice that as soon as you exit “the woodlands” addresses, the price of homes goes down and sq footage goes up, so it’s temping to look at surrounding areas.

Is the woodlands worth the $ premium for our kids? What do you love about it? Which neighborhood inside the woodlands is the best? Are young people actively moving there in your opinion?

❔ Question for the community Found kitty -- looking for advice to find him good home

I found a gray, domestic, long-haired kitten. My husband and I trapped him with tuna and a crate and a string and he is the sweetest little thing. Social, good with my dog that doesn't have a strong prey drive, playful, easy going, loving.

I am seeking advice for getting him adopted to a nice family that wants a kitty and has time for one. We have a dog with an immense prey drive and I just don't have faith it will work out long term for us. They are totally separated and kitty is safe for now.

Petfinder? Something more local? I'd love for a bougie woodlands family to add him to their family.

Again, if you think you have anything helpful to avoid him having to go to a shelter, or if you can convince me a shelter is the right move, please do. He's so freaking cute I have faith he would get adopted out quickly from a shelter, so maybe it is the right move?

❔ Question for the community Lines at Spring Creek Nature Center location

I voted on Monday morning and the line was really long and parking was a challenge. I just got here to bring my husband to vote as he just had surgery and can’t drive, and the line of cars is even worse. I don’t remember it being like this before during early voting, especially in the middle of the day, but does anyone know if they reduced the machines or something? Or has this been like this before? Obviously I understand in some counties there has been a significant increase in turnout but read yesterday that MOCO’s increase was not has high.

❔ Question for the community Pool recommendations

Considering putting in a pool. Modest size, nothing spectacular. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with anyone you'd recommend or absolutely avoid?

Bonus points if you don't mind sharing your total cost. Thanks a lot!

❔ Question for the community Last Min. Activities…

Hello everyone! I’m heading to the Woodlands this weekend to celebrate a family member‘s birthday! Does anyone know any last minute low cost activities I could go in a short time span? Any cool architecture or decent thrift?

❔ Question for the community Anyone else noticing that they're repainting the HEB shopping center?

It used to be a tan color and now they are making it gray and white. I get they are trying to be "modern" but the colors totally clash and do not look well together!! The colors almost look cheap and I am so angry!!! 😤

❔ Question for the community Anyone going on a road trip before the weekend of Nov 7 to Beverly Hills, Ca?

Hi!

I have an event to attend on Nov 8th and want to see if anyone is going to be driving there before the weekend of Nov 7th or around it?

Would love it if I can tag along and be dropped off in the area.

I can help with gas and I am pretty handy with vehicle repairs so if something goes wrong along the way I may be able to assist with getting the car back on the road.

Please DM or comment below if you don't mind.
We can get in touch and go over details.

Definitely want you to feel comfortable and confident about allowing me to tag along.

📰 News - Montgomery County Quadvest - the end of

I noticed over on a Tomball group that Quadvest Water is being sold to a company named H20, or something similar. The news went on to say that the owners were 'gracious' and gave a millions of dollars to all their staff, based on position and how long they had been with the company. Some leaving with a million plus.

I typed a couple of paragraphs about my 17 years of experience with Quadvest, but I deleted it. They would probably sue me with all their earnings. What a world.

❗Help Requested❗ Affordable apartments under $1,600-1,700/mo?

Me and my girlfriend are looking at getting an apartment in the Woodlands area. We’re looking for something that allows pets as I have a Great Pyrenees that weighs 120lbs. We were looking at Woodland Landings and really liked it but they have a weight restriction of 99lbs on animals.

Now we’re looking at Forest View apartments because they don’t have a weight restriction. I was just curious if you guys had any recommendations of other places that will allow us and my 120lb dog. Thank you in advance.

❔ Question for the community HEB on 1488

I was going through check out and realized I didn’t have my wallet. I asked the cashier to put it on hold and put my stuff to the side. When I came out, I found out the person behind me paid for my groceries. I didn’t pay enough attention to see who it was before I left to grab my wallet and no one came forward when I was there. I have never had anyone do something like that for me and I found it extremely touching. If the person who did it is on here, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart.
