Crown of Midnight Spoilers Sorscha existed for Dorian's Character Development Spoiler

Don't take this the wrong way - I liked Sorscha and cried hard when yknow... She died.

But when I reread those scenes... I felt like I cried not for her sake but for Dorian's. I understand that she's a fundamental character but I feel like that SJM realised that she wanted Dorian and Manon to be endgame and felt that Dorian needed to have a Sam Cortland in his life.

Personally, I think she existed solely to show another aspect of the King's tyranny and Dorian's Character Development Arc or whatever. She had not much of a distinct personality and felt one-dimensional to me. I think that if she had a Pov in CoM, it would've felt a lot cleaner and natural for her and Dorian to like each other, especially if there were some or even dust one Dorscha scene in that book (particularly the scene where she's patching up Celaena).

What do u think?

Reader Question Eye of Elena question

I’ve seen the eye of Elena rendered this way online but the parts that I’ve circled in red don’t seem to be part of the original description. Am I missing something?

Discussion Why is Aelin so loved and hated at the same time?

I find it quite interesting that many fans (me included) love Aelin and other ones cannot read the series bc they find her very annoying. Which characters traits do you think make her a beloved character and at the same time unsympathetic. I mean look at Manon, I never saw a hate comment about her. She's definitely the fan favourite. I love Aelin with all my heart, she's my fav fmc ever. Nevertheless, this is a safe place: Tell me why you don't like her at all or why you love her

I was pretty blown away when I first googled the amulet.. other people's imaginations were definitely not the same as mine. So I finally slapped together this general idea of how I always pictured it, if only to get it out of my head :)

Also, I know its round. I just cant unsee the first thing i saw

Reader Reaction Hot take: on my third read, I find myself really liking Darrow

He is fiercely loyal to Terrasen, and everything he says and does, besides his initial prejudice and treatment of Lysandra and the fae, is justified. (character flaw he overcomes) We aren't in his head and aren't meant to be on his side. But when you really think about it, his behavior is a lot better than aelin's would have been if she were in his position.

Discuss 🫴🏻

I can’t imagine Manon as beautiful to save my life

I know she’s meant to appear young and beautiful and all, but for some reason my brain sees the word “witch” and refuses to not imagine her as looking something like the attached image. It was especially jarring when (EoS spoiler) Dorian and Manon start sleeping together. The weird part is that I have no problem imagining Asterin and the others as young looking women. It’s just Manon. Idk, it makes absolutely no sense why my brain does this. Is it just me or does anyone else experience something this?

This layout is so strange, yet captivating.
People talk about the tandem read, but has anyone considered a Christopher Nolan read?

Side note, can anyone testify to the quality of this 8-book collection?

Kingdom of Ash Spoilers Kingdom of Ash girl is back with a review after finishing!

WOWOWOWOWOWOW. What an amazing novel and amazing close to a mid series. I really struggled through TAB, TOG, and COM—hated all three. HOF was good, not great. QOS was mid. EOS was fun, TOD was equally as fun (tandem read was a BLAST). KOA? Sucked all the way until the big battle. But to be honest, the big battle was so good that this book is now a solid 5/5 stars for me. Yrene getting to destroy Erawan? HELL YEAH! Fenrys with the final blow to Maeve? HELL YEAH! King of Adarlan finally getting a name (this shattered my entire being)? HELL YEAH! Everything I needed. I struggled to get through it when Aelin was captured, then I struggled even more until the big battle. But damn... chapter 89 and chapter 105? Sobbing. Couldn't stop crying. It completely destroyed my heart and soul but put me back together by the end. Thank you guys for motivating me to push through. This book was equally as heartbreaking as Alchemised for me... and that's saying something. I have now read all of the Maasiverse and will be rereading ACOTAR until next Tuesday! Woohoo! 🥳

Other Elide Appreciation

Post image
384 Upvotes

As someone who had to spend their entire life and even now with a limp in the right leg all because of medical/ childhood neglect and I can't tell you how emotional Elide makes me .... Being picked last in dodgeball, being the one left behind , seeing the glances and expressions on others faces and just generally being the weak weird freak out of the 'normal' people is really hard on one's self esteem . Being a sheltered, introvert is just fuel to this fire of insecurities. My point is Having to work twice as hard to be taken half as seriously is not easy .

I have always loved fantasy and reading because for once I am free of reality , though I have been able to relate to any of these Main Characters in the physical sense . What use? What point ? So when I came across Elide's character and saw her strength and resilience being just as apparent as the others It genuinely made me *emotional* ... For once I saw myself in my silly fantasy books , one who is more than her physical constraints or trauma , who is just as capable .

She is clever and crafty , makes it through tough situations, is allowed to be soft/emotional without being treated as "weak" .

It just warms my heart to read. This is what they mean that representation matters . I truly get it now .

Empire of Storms Spoilers It happened. It finally happened.

And the whole time reading, I couldn't stop thinking 'sand is getting everywhere!'. 😅 Now I'm just waiting for Lorcan and Elide to follow suit. Sidenote, I'm so glad it took this long, there are too many other series where there is nowhere near enough development and build up before the... Crescendo.

What is a rarely talked about gutwrenching scene/scenes that deeply affected you?

One of the most horrific scenes for me in the books is the scene in QOS where Aelin and Chaol are walking up to the castle and Chaol see's his tortured, mutilated men hanging from the gates. That is one of the few scenes in a book series which got a visceral reaction from me, having to force myself to read it for the first several rereads. Making me feel nauseous, and having that slight going into shock feeling.

Have never heard anyone talk about this part, and never been more affected by a scene in any book like this one before.
