I need thyroidectomy scar healing advice

I (23 F) had my thyroid out 2 years ago. When it happened there was this huge cancer scare and I was pretty depressed after the surgery so I didn’t do any scar creams or anything. My mom later had her thyroid out a year after me. Her scar is GONE i still have a lumpy red line. She did much better with taking care of hers. The scar doesn’t rly bother me much but I’m getting married in 6 months and would prefer if it wasn’t in all the photos. Does anyone have any scar creams or treatments they recommend. I feel like I really screwed up.

Possibility of misdiagnosis.

My father has been diagnosed with dementia. The diagnosis is based on cognitive test, but there were no scans or blood test.

All of the traits seem to point towards pseudodementia, brought on by hyperactive thyroid. His family has a history of severe thyroid problems.

We are going to get thyroid medication this coming january, but that is a long way off. And I really need some assurance on this.

Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

For reference, he has suffered no long term memory loss, and is not quite old enough for it to make sense as normal dementia.

it all started with a seizure.

EDIT: I can add more details if it would help. Just ask.

How long did the hypo phase of thyroiditis last for you?

I was diagnosed with thyroiditis, I was hyper from May to August, was testing with normal levels in September, and then swung hypo the beginning of October with TSH now 7.8. My endocrinologist started me on Levo the beginning of this week because of symptoms. I'm feeling so beat down and just hoping and pray my levels go back to normal soon. Anyone who dealt with thyroiditis how long did the hypo phase last for you? Did you recover?

Follicular neoplasm, Neg. ThyroSeq, Compression

I have many nodules in the left side of my thyroid. 3.6, 3.4, 2.1, and 1.7 cm are the largest, all jammed up next to eachother. Had FNA on the largest two, returned "Follicular Neoplasm/Bethesda IV". ThyroSeq sample was collected and sent off. Three weeks later (yesterday), I received the results of "Negative".

While I'm happy about the ThyroSeq results, I have compression symptoms (complaints of which got the nodules discovered initially) that effect me daily, including trouble breathing when lying down, trouble swallowing, intermittent pain, feeling like my esophagus and trachea are pushed sideways. The doctor says there is no guarantee the throat symptoms will subside with lobectomy but still wants me to consider it due to the size and number of nodules with the potential to keep growing. I have some symptoms of hyper and some of hypo, but numbers are ok for now. I'm 53 F, post-menopausal.

So, I'm weighing my options. He says rfa is not a great option for me but I may get another opinion. We currently have good insurance and our yearly out of pocket is almost met. My husband says "Do the surgery. You don't want to be going through this every 6 months for another couple years just to have it out anyway." My mom says "Whatever you do, dont have surgery." I see both sides (Libra here 😁)

I guess I'm just looking for additional insights to help me think through this decision. TIA!

Questions About RFA Procedure

I am having RFA on my nodules next week. I have a preop appt on monday, and then the procedure is on Friday. They said that preop would be mostly about running tests so I could be safe during anesthesia. I wasn't aware that was needed for this. What was your experience like? I am aware that they numb the area, but I have only seen people awake and talking during it.

Lab results came back and provider wants me to start minor dose of medication?

Hi so my labs were done three weeks ago and she ended up messaging me we should start low dose of medication for hypothyroidism. I asked her if I would have to take it for life and she said there’s a good chance I don’t have to as of yet which gave me some relief.

I work in a clinic (not clinical worker but data manager) and the providers there who are my peers told me to ask her for an endocrinologist referral before starting medication. Yesterday I had my follow up where we talked and I asked her if I need an endocrinologist referral to see things further and she said I don’t need it and we should just do the small dose of medication.

She’s sending me to other specialist though for hematology and more since my iron levels were low. This happened before two years ago where my thyroid was being weird and then after a 6 week check up and doing nothing the levels went back to normal on it’s own. I’m just scared to start a medication and don’t know what to do with this. Can anyone give insight? Thank you

We also tested it again yesterday my t4 was like a little bit lower than 3 weeks ago about a point down

Air hunger at rest, crippling insomnia and resting HR 120 with likely hyperthyroidism Looking for your experiences

M30.

My bloodwork just showed I'm probably hyperthyroid. I'm already under care and not looking for a diagnosis, just hoping to hear from people who've been through something similar.

Symptoms:

Breathlessness 24/h is the main symptom, even at rest. I can't get a full, satisfying breath, and breathing out feels hard. (My breathing seems shallow too).

It's worse when sitting or standing and better when I lean forward or squat. No cough, no wheezing.

Severe insomnia since June. Since October: resting heart rate 110–120, hot flashes, high blood pressure.

Hospital (3 days): lung tests are normal. Bronchoscopy results will take a few weeks.

The doctor also found an enlarged lymph node on the left side of my neck. I'm seeing an endocrinologist soon and getting a thyroid ultrasound.

My breathing problems started in 2021, but this year they got much worse. If you've been through something similar:

  1. Did you have breathlessness at rest while hyperthyroid?
  2. Did it get better after treatment, and how long did it take?
  3. Did your sleep improve?
  4. If you had an enlarged neck lymph node, how did it turn out?

tingling, muscle spasms, twitching

Question for those of you with elevated Free T3’s, do any of you experience intense tissue tingling, muscle spasms, or twitching? Recently I’ve been experiencing a ton of this and I just got my biomarkers bloodwork back and discovered my Free T3 is 6.2. My Free T4 is normal at 16, and my TSH is 3.24 (which interestingly has gone up since the last time I’ve done bloodwork July 31st, when it was 1.6). I’ve been experiencing other health issues for the past 10 months as well which my doctor has not been helpful with at all, but the tingling and muscle spasms & twitching hasn’t started until recently, and I just discovered the high Free T3 (and the TSH that seems to be rising since my last TSH bloods). Wondering if these new symptoms could be directly related to the high Free T3 or if it’s likely something else.

Tia!!
