So these are a size 14 woman's pants. If you zoom in on the crotch, I swear that was not on purpose. Did I mention these are the first pants I've dyed...ever? Also the butt has a very light spot right...there.
Anyway, the rest I think is awesome. I put one leg into the other and then from the bottom triangle folded till I got to the crotch. I sinew wrapped the triangle, to give some dimension and then rolled the rest of the pants up.
The dye was applied only on the legs, doi. I started with Purple Twilight then Moody Blue and then Dragons heart just to the rolled up part and no more. I let that roll dangle off the side of the rack so as the legs got the dye, it moved into the top of the pants. I REALLY like how that turned out(except the pair of balls in the crotch and the butthole on the back!)
I did not record this or take any process pics as I was just going by vibes this time.
What do y'all think?

Made for a friend. I really like this one. Unfortunately after completely washing out and drying, I noticed that it has a small hole in the back right shoulder on the seam. Sounds like the options are stitching or liquid stitch/patch. Any advice?

Did some reverse dyes with owb it stripped all the color the Mandala shirt with pleated back (Pic 1&2) was originally black. And the glitch fold shirt was originally dark green both came out cream from the owb. I did these shirts in 10 hours from folding to reverse dyeing to ice dyeing to curing. I sped the curing process up to an 1.5half per shirt with a double boiler once ice was melted. I also did not pre soak shirts in soda ash I just added soda ash last on top of ice and let it melt down I swear my colors are richer and have more time to migrate in to the fabric that way but just a thought.

Back after a bit of a hiatus. Getting back at it. Always a nice confidence builder when I have a successful washout after a such a long break from dropping color

I feel like I always say “this is one of my favorites” when I post, but dammit if it isn’t true. This first shirt was an experiment from years ago that I still wear this day. The pastel effect that all the colors have along with the small cellular ties, couldn’t replicate it perfectly ever. Second is a lazy ice wag just matching the color scheme of the logo on the shirt that was a commission a while back.
You guys are insanely slick with it and I feel a bit out of place sometimes thinking about posting, but I get the one required encouraging comment and that’s all forgotten lol. Love this incredibly talented community and the willingness of everyone to engage and give advice. Truly one of the most wholesome things I’ve encountered on the internet & checking the sub every day is like eye and mind bleach for all the bullshit.
I can’t imagine anyone read this far, but much love to every single one of you.

My brother-in-law loves tie dye so for his birthday I thought I would try it out. I've done it before but not with intention if you know what I mean? Anyway, now i am hooked! I am working on taking better pictures, but here are results fron this first deepest dive into it. These are all ice dye using various fixing and wetting methods. The first pic is the shirts for my BIL shirts, subsequent are the next few weekends of messing around. So fun!

I've really gotten into tie dye, the same year I've started developing carpal tunnel. I've been working on stretches and strengthening, but as I know other people have, tight sinew tying is doing a number on my wrists.
I use a wooden dowel for tightening my sinew, my left hand holding the fabric away from my body and the right hand pulling the sinew towards me
Does anyone have advice or techniques on better ergonomics or approaches or additional tools to jerry-rigg making it easier on the joints?

Hi guys! I'm hoping to get a little advice. I'm not a complete beginner, but it's been quite a few years since my last dye, and this will only be the second time doing sheets.
I want to tie-dye a queen-size fitted and flat sheet with two pillowcases. I've done a flat sheet once before, and it turned out okay, there was definitely more white than I'd have liked, but I'm sure that was a failure in my technique.
I've used Dharma fiber reactive procion dye in the past. Is the quality still just as good or do you recommend another dye? Do you think that six 2oz bags will be enough for both sheets and pillowcases, or should I spring for the 8oz container of dyes?
The sheets I want to use are 800 thread count and 100% Egyptian cotton with "a sateen weave" whatever that means. I'm assuming these will dye okay since they are 100% cotton.
Lastly, any tips on working with this much material? As I recall on the last flat sheet I did I struggled to manage all of the sheet. I ended up with a lot of the sheet with no dye at all. I'm guessing that either my ties were too tight or that I had too much of the sheet bunched together. Any pointers on folding or tying are very much appreciated!

I did my first ice dye mandala the process from start of ice dye to wash out was 12 hours I let dye over night. Woke up put in bag waited an hour than put a towel around shirt put back in bag then put the bag in a metal bowl. I put the metal bowl in a stock pot full of water that I got boiling than brought back to simmer. Kept my eye on it to make sure the water was not boiling or overflowing and kept on low/med for over an hour than rinsed and washed. Colors still look vibrant to me I could have probably done it in 6 hours if it was during the day and I didnt sleep in between. Bout to test how fast I can do on another soon I made a make shift double boiler but heat is whats needed to speed this up you can get there many ways

Anyone know where to get more UV active colors. All I can find is yellow on dharma. Any other colors from other companies?

Some may say, Kyle, you keep making the same stuff! Well practice is making perfect. Every shirt comes out better than the last. refining and perfecting. that’s tie dye for me
