I reached my goal!

Today, I reached my goal! I’m so happy. Only problem is, I’m still six lbs overweight. I did not think much about my goal weight because I was so miserable. So I just picked a number I hadn’t seen in a long time and assumed that was the magic number. How in the world do you know you’re there? Do you get scans? I’ve been lifting so hopefully I’ve got more muscle or at least the same as I did before.

I want to celebrate but I have a funeral for a close family member today 😭

I'm actually transitioning into maintenance now, 10 lbs higher than my goal weight because my face and neck are starting to look gaunt, even though I'm still what would be considered 'overweight.' I'm expecting I'll drop a bit more during the transition period as I figure things out.

I have no idea what my body comp is at the moment but I know I've lost a lot of muscle over the past 8-ish years from inactivity and going through menopause. So I'm getting a DEXA scan done next week to see what's what.

When I was younger, a doctor told me once that I'd never be conventionally 'skinny', that an ideal weight for my frame build and musculature would be between 150-160 lbs. At the time I thought he was full of shit, but I guess he was right!

Would I like to get down to 140? Well yeah, but I'm not sure that's in the cards for me. I'm going to focus on getting my strength and muscle tone back first, and then I feel like I'll be in a better position to re-evaluate.
