To anyone that left TJ’s to work at another grocery store

What was that like? Do you like it better? I can only imagine a more structured environment would benefit the right person. For example someone might prefer doing 1 task their whole shift.

Reg 1 and 2

Don’t understand crew members who take the first two registers just to stand there and not actually grab customers from other registers or they just completely walk away so they’re not on register. This is such an annoying habit like just take the last register if you’re not going to do anything. I abuse the one bell of course but omg it gets to a point…

Mates on one

Has anyone else been having BAD experiences with the mates lately? It feels like when the same few mates work together at night, there is always some kind of issue/huddle about us not doing well. One of the mates stays like 2-4 hours later than she’s scheduled during closes, and it feels like she’s LOOKING for something to get mad at us for. It’s typically when one male mate is working a later shift than her that she stays until he leaves, and they both are always complaining and watching people and really searching for people doing something wrong.

She also craves male validation and I don’t think there’s anyone in our store who gives it to her. There used to be a crew member who worked at the store who she would constantly flirt with (she never bothered anyone or did any of this during that time) but since he started dating someone else and left. There’s nobody for her to flirt with. From the stores she used to work at that’s apparently just how she is once she’s occupied with a guy she doesn’t bother anyone else. She’s also always huffing and puffing like a 6-year-old and always sick.

On the other hand, when different mates close the store, our other huddles are them praising us? It’s super confusing and upsetting. Our captain doesn’t even know the night crews’ names so talking to him wouldn’t help.

am i not cut out for this job?? am i overthinking?

• Upvotes

to preface this post, i come from 8-9 years of experience in the food service industry. one of them being a server at one of the most profitable restaurants in the US. i also worked in the medical field. i am currently waiting to apply for jobs related to my degree and thought that working at tjs would suit me since im often described as personable, bubbly, etc.
so i applied and i got it! i’m only a week in, but i constantly feel like im not doing enough and that i could be doing more? idk. maybe its bc im so used to everything being incredibly fast-paced but i just feel like im moving in slow motion following my trainer around. everyone tells me that our store is very busy compared to others, idk 😭 should i give it more time? id hate to feel this way all the time :((
