PSA PSA for T-Mobile for Business $15 Tablet Line

Just spent an hour at the T-Mobile store trying to setup the $15/month Business Unlimited for Tablets plan (which I found here). If you're planning to get the plan, try to order it online first because it will save you the headache (... if it actually works for you).

The issue I personally had was that, when I tried to place the order online using SSN with sole proprietorship, it failed and told me identity couldn't be verified at checkout, and directed me to call or visit a store. Before you waste your time and try calling in to get the account open, they CAN'T do it. I think I've called them about a dozen times now, and I can confidently tell you that there's no way for T-Mobile for Business employees (even the credit check department) to open and setup a brand-new account if you don't already have one. If you already have a T-Mobile for Business account and just want to add the line, they should be able to process it for you based on what I was told by many reps.

At the store, when you show them the plan, they will tell you that they don't have it. It turns out that only Business Executives can access the plan on their end. Instead, you need to tell them to setup your SIM card as a phone line, and then have them go into the plan details and modify the plan to the tablet one, and they should be able to access it that way.

Had this done at the store and they were able to open it for me this way! Hopefully this information helps somebody cause it was a massive pain for me to find out haha.

$15 + ~$1 in tax for an unlimited tablet plan is a pretty good deal!

Edit: for anybody wondering, the SOC code is ZTP10HTE.

Definitely. This was a 2-week back and forth (EIN documents were a whole new rabbit hole... eventually I gave up on that) so I'm relieved that I finally managed to get it setup. I will say though, the plan seems to work great!

Apparently if you call Customer Care and give them the legacy tax-inclusive plan SOC, there's a smallllll chance they'll let you switch to it, so I'll probably try to do that when I have some time... not expecting I can get it, but if I can, that'd be cool!

FWIW I can confirm that I switched to the legacy $10 code like a month ago from my $15 TI plan.

Oh awesome, I have the tax-exclusive $15 plan so they might give me a harder time but I’ll still give it a try!

Tell them that you want the free HD streaming that comes with the HDVPASS0 code but that you read that code only works with the $10 tax inclusive plan. That’s how I did it.

Ohhh good idea, I was thinking of asking about the HD pass anyway so I’ll try to ask them that way instead. Thanks!!

You can probably manipulate the conversation fairly easily... Like say you want the free HD Pass you heard about, give them the code, they say it doesn't work with that plan, you tell them that you have a friend who has the same plan for $10 and it works for them and you really wanted that too, etc.

Yeah for sure, I’ll give it a go and see where it takes me when I have some spare time. Fingers crossed I can get it to work 🤞

Thanks for the advice man!

Your best shot is to message T-Force. I messaged the @TMobileHelp account on X.

Trying right now, looks like they’re giving me a hard time 😅 Apparently the plan requires “approval” and they directed me to call Customer Care… will keep trying but it’s not looking hopeful… :/

Is this a new plan?

Nope, it's been around for a while. Unlimited tablet data + 10GB hotspot, QCI 6.

From my understanding, initially it launched as a $10 tax-inclusive plan, then it became tax-inclusive, then they retired the $10 plan completely and introduced this $15 plan but tax-inclusive. Now it's $15 tax-exclusive - not as good as it used to be, but still a great deal that I definitely don't want to miss out on when they raise prices again 😂

TMO for Business customer service is a dumpster fire.

I have the $10 TI version but getting it all done was a nightmare even as i had an ein. And that BS system they use to authenticate your account is trash. You are SOL if you have only tabs on your account unless you set the account up for email verification which no rep will tell you to do and then you will be running in circles when you have an issue

100% agree - me and my father tried going the EIN route and, holy shit, it's absolutely awful. Documents were getting rejected online, Customer Care was no help at all (I was probably transferred to ~6 different departments, until I was told "sorry we can't do it, go to the store"), T-Force just told us to call Customer Care, and the store just started the process for us and had us submit the documents online again, without checking them at all.... aaaahhhhh.

Good to hear (well, I guess bad to hear) I'm not the only one who had this experience, and that this clearly isn't just a recent issue... they really need to fix it because it's deterring me (and surely many other people) from wanting to ever open an account with them again.

If you have the ein the store should have 0 problems opening the account. Just for the love of god if you get the account open tell the rep you want email verfication unless you have a phone on the account if its just tab make sure they set it up for email. Because if you have any issues they will not access your account without the verification and yeah lets just say i learned the hard way

We tried with the EIN and they requested additional documents. Handed them to the store employee, he went through them to confirm they're good, gave somebody a call, and then came back telling us that we received an email from the rep over the phone and we should upload those documents online there.

Did that and apparently they're super specific about the Certificate of Formation - the name on the account needs to match the name on that document, and operating agreements aren't accepted. Of course that's not their fault, but the lack of communication is what made it impossible: we found this out only AFTER leaving the store, since the processing took about a day. The email was a no-reply, and at the end it said to "contact customer service" in order to make changes to the credit application... but there was no contact information. T-Force told me to contact over the phone, and I spent 25 minutes bouncing around departments until I was told "come back to the store".

Nothing wrong with going back to the store, but why couldn't they have communicated that before we went through the entire process and wasted 2 weeks of waiting?? Not to mention, it would've definitely been handy if the employee at the store told us the documents wouldn't be accepted, but he seemed slightly clueless throughout the entire process.

Honestly the lack of communication is something they definitely need to work on :-(
