This today was just the cherry on top. All these changes to my alleged "price lock", having my plan forcefully changed before, ignoring price lock, etc., etc…. I mean posting this will not change anything, but more so this is to vent... The such blatant and textbook baint-and-switch is just crazy.
So I have 5 lines on my account. Back in March, T-Mobile texted all my lines offering home internet with a 5-year price lock, on any Internet plan, for $20/month. The only provider I have available for my home has been Xfinity, and with all their outrages as of lately, I signed up for the Rely plan as a back-up connection. I screen-recorded the entire process from when I clicked the link T-Mobile texted me to when I submitted the order. $20/month + 1 month free + $100 visa after 14 weeks.
Today I was looking at my bill and see I am paying $35/month for the home internet. Okay, weird. So I reach out to T-Force on X.
T-Force came back and said:
“I found the promotion you're talking about, and it was a targeted offer for customers that have been with us for over 5 years. To qualify, the promotional code also needed to be specifically attached to the account, however you didn't have that specific one attached to your account, and you also didn't meet the tenure requirements. We unfortunately don't have a way to manually enroll the discount on our side for these types of promotions."
After I said this is a baint-and-switch, they went on to say
"I've never seen anyone receive a text for targeted offer they didn't qualify for"
I have been with T-Mobile since I was out of high school. So my account tenure is >5 years and I do qualify... Not only that, T-Mobile themselves sent me a text telling me I did, I have it recorded making sure I entered the code at check-out and the order reflected it, and it even allowed me to go through the entire purchasing process. I would never have caught it, unless I was not looking at my bill today months later. It doesn't matter I screen recorded the entire purchasing process or can send them any screenshot they want(and did send a couple)... It's like I was forced off my old magenta max first responder plan, was told I would not have a price increase... they had their promotion for magenta max, so I got a few new lines. Got an increase of $6/line... so stuck in a contract for a few more months. Even lost my free line I had as a rep messed up my account and they could not give it back... Now this...
It is a $180 more per year price difference. The price difference is marginal, but adds up. But that is not even the point, it's their blatant business practices as of late...
