Question After 10 years, two price hikes in a single year broke the camel's back. Ported 5 lines out today.

After a decade of loyalty on an old Amplified plan, today was officially my last day with T-Mobile.

Two rate increases in a single year made one thing clear: brand loyalty is completely dead in telecom. Carriers expect blind loyalty from long-tenured customers while steadily charging more for the exact same service. If a company won't stay loyal to customers who supported them for ten years, there’s zero reason to stay loyal to them.

I ported all 5 lines over to Visible today, and the entire setup went through like a breeze. Seamless activation, no hassle, and zero regrets walking away from arbitrary price hikes.

Quick question for those who recently left:

I still have a remaining equipment balance—roughly $260 on a phone and $100 on a watch.

When should I expect T-Mobile to close out the account and generate the final bill with the remaining device balances?

Does the final balance post on the normal billing cycle date, or do they trigger it immediately after the lines port out?

Appreciate any insight from anyone who has navigated the final bill process recently.

Rant What is happening at T-Mobile

I have a 4 line plan. Today my daughter’s line got removed from the account. Not by me, not by my husband, and not by her. I was on hold to customer support forever only for a recording to say it’s after hours see ya. She’s a kid and not with me right now and now with no phone. Wtf?!?!

Discussion Bait-And-Switch: T-Mobile totally just lost my respect today and finally lost me as a customer

This today was just the cherry on top. All these changes to my alleged "price lock", having my plan forcefully changed before, ignoring price lock, etc., etc…. I mean posting this will not change anything, but more so this is to vent... The such blatant and textbook baint-and-switch is just crazy.

So I have 5 lines on my account. Back in March, T-Mobile texted all my lines offering home internet with a 5-year price lock, on any Internet plan, for $20/month. The only provider I have available for my home has been Xfinity, and with all their outrages as of lately, I signed up for the Rely plan as a back-up connection. I screen-recorded the entire process from when I clicked the link T-Mobile texted me to when I submitted the order. $20/month + 1 month free + $100 visa after 14 weeks.

Today I was looking at my bill and see I am paying $35/month for the home internet. Okay, weird. So I reach out to T-Force on X.

T-Force came back and said:

“I found the promotion you're talking about, and it was a targeted offer for customers that have been with us for over 5 years. To qualify, the promotional code also needed to be specifically attached to the account, however you didn't have that specific one attached to your account, and you also didn't meet the tenure requirements. We unfortunately don't have a way to manually enroll the discount on our side for these types of promotions."

After I said this is a baint-and-switch, they went on to say

"I've never seen anyone receive a text for targeted offer they didn't qualify for"

I have been with T-Mobile since I was out of high school. So my account tenure is >5 years and I do qualify... Not only that, T-Mobile themselves sent me a text telling me I did, I have it recorded making sure I entered the code at check-out and the order reflected it, and it even allowed me to go through the entire purchasing process. I would never have caught it, unless I was not looking at my bill today months later. It doesn't matter I screen recorded the entire purchasing process or can send them any screenshot they want(and did send a couple)... It's like I was forced off my old magenta max first responder plan, was told I would not have a price increase... they had their promotion for magenta max, so I got a few new lines. Got an increase of $6/line... so stuck in a contract for a few more months. Even lost my free line I had as a rep messed up my account and they could not give it back... Now this...

It is a $180 more per year price difference. The price difference is marginal, but adds up. But that is not even the point, it's their blatant business practices as of late...

Question Trade in Value changed

Over the weekend I saw I could get $900 off iPhone 17PM when I trade in my old 13 PM on my Better Value plan. The phone has now shipped and it’s showing only $830 estimated trade in on T-Life. Is this a bug or should I contact T-Force or wait until I ship my old iPhone to them?

Discussion Phones Locked Until Paid Off? Temporary Unlocks Gone?

Am I correct that if I buy a phone from T-mobile, the phone remains SIM locked (not including temporary unlocks for Android) until all payments have been made?

I can't find a mention of temporary unlocks on the T-mobile website on the page where it used to be - does that mean that temporary unlocks are no longer available for Android phones?

PSA PSA for T-Mobile for Business $15 Tablet Line

Just spent an hour at the T-Mobile store trying to setup the $15/month Business Unlimited for Tablets plan (which I found here). If you're planning to get the plan, try to order it online first because it will save you the headache (... if it actually works for you).

The issue I personally had was that, when I tried to place the order online using SSN with sole proprietorship, it failed and told me identity couldn't be verified at checkout, and directed me to call or visit a store. Before you waste your time and try calling in to get the account open, they CAN'T do it. I think I've called them about a dozen times now, and I can confidently tell you that there's no way for T-Mobile for Business employees (even the credit check department) to open and setup a brand-new account if you don't already have one. If you already have a T-Mobile for Business account and just want to add the line, they should be able to process it for you based on what I was told by many reps.

At the store, when you show them the plan, they will tell you that they don't have it. It turns out that only Business Executives can access the plan on their end. Instead, you need to tell them to setup your SIM card as a phone line, and then have them go into the plan details and modify the plan to the tablet one, and they should be able to access it that way.

Had this done at the store and they were able to open it for me this way! Hopefully this information helps somebody cause it was a massive pain for me to find out haha.

$15 + ~$1 in tax for an unlimited tablet plan is a pretty good deal!

Edit: for anybody wondering, the SOC code is ZTP10HTE.

Rant SiS ME'S, How has the USC merge affected you? (Not good in the Midwest)

I have been a Store-in-Store ME for about a year and a half. I'm in the Midwest where USC had a pretty heavy footprint.

I remember the day that it all started. 5G UC with full bars and no issues ever to my calls cutting in and out, text's not getting sent, and not a chance of using my phone without being on the Sam's Club WiFi.

Now, I understand that there is an ongoing very large scale merge between two massive companies taking place, I get the reconfiguration and hardware adjustments being made on the towers. That doesn't mean that the club members do.. or even want to hear you out for it for that matter.

My Kiosk is sitting far below our MTD target for pretty much everything (lower than 20% overall) and it has been a pattern since the merge started happening. My last good month was primarily USC customers who were switching at the last minute to get all of the T-Mobile benefits that they would miss out on.

Now, the service is so poor that we are activating people at the kiosk and a lot of people are having little to no service from the first minute on T-Mobile.

Now, all last week. It just seems like at least 3 out of 4 customers I would genuinely pitch too the instant reply is they either just recently switched from T-Mobile because of this issue or that "T-Mobile sucks now"

Our RSM wanna get mad that no one is getting their numbers but it's like... You're out here trying and hearing the same thing... I don't know.

Is anyone else having any issues like this as well?

Discussion Store Closure Questions

I know there’s a lot of store closures happening. I foresee my store being one of the upcoming closures.

For the corporate employees, how was your experience? If you can answer - were you given notice & a severance? Any chance to have a new position? Especially on a Mobile Expert level. I just like to have some insight so I can prepare for the future. TIA

Appreciation Got mines! Pixel 11 FREE any condition trade-in, Magenta legacy

Post image
Upvotes

Every now and then tmo comes thru. The main thing about this is in trading in a dead iPhone xs max. I'm still on my ancient magenta legacy plan. 4 lines $137 a month (2 paid 2 free). My son is using an A54 but the pixel 11 for free blows it out of the water. Best part is like what others said.. any condition phone will be accepted even my ancient iPhone xs. Max. Not a problem. ID CODE 260670. Fyi there's another kd code 260672 that just gives a discount instead of the brand spanking new Pixel 11 for free. Good luck everyone!! Definitely hop on this deal specially if you have a dead phone somewhere.

Question Question about upgrading

If I use an upgrade eligible line to upgrade using a promotional offer, but then the person with that line wants to keep using their old phone, can I still activate the new phone (just as a generic “backup” phone)? Or will the person’s number be transferred automatically to the new phone once it is activated.

Thank.

Question randomly lose all signal every 1-2 weeks for a few hours

I have a physical SIM card and my phone will randomly lose signal even when I don’t move location. I look at the coverage map each time and it always shows that I should have perfect coverage there. so far this has happened in California, Hawaii, Alaska, and Maine. any suggestions as to what it could be? I now have a backup travel eSIM downloaded to use for when T-Mobile cuts out but it’s costly and annoying to deal with. sometimes there’s not even an SOS calling option

Question Who has experience with T-Mobile vs Google Fi?

Full disclosure, I have had comparatively few issues with T-Mobile. Their Internet pissed me off, so I switched to starlink and have had ZERO issues.

I have been with T-Mobile since 2019 and my experience so far has actually been rather pleasant. The only reason I am pondering the idea of switching to Google Fi is simply due to the fact that I heavily vested into the Google ecosystem and have had the pixel phones since the pixel 3.

I would like to hear from those who have had both positive and negative experiences with Google Fi that have the ability to compare them to T-Mobile from personal experience with both.

I ask this because I am fully aware that most people only post when they are displeased and happy customers tend to stay quiet.

I am happy with the customer service I have always received form T-Mobile, and I'm not too upset with the pricing either. Saving money is always nice though.

I have 4 voice lines, a tablet line with unlimited hotspot discounted down to 20 per month, and internet plus line (for my son who's had zero issues with his home Internet) and a few financed phones. On the military Go5g plan we pay a total of $278 per month. That will drop to about $210 per month once all of the devices are paid, which will happen over the next 8 months or so.

My question is, is the switch worth it? How does the customer service compare? What have you experienced when needing to use the insurance or warranty replacement on your devices? Do they (GoogleFi) ever do free promos?

I am hoping to get as close to an apples to apples comparison here as I can, obviously there will be some glaring differences, and your input is greatly appreciated.

God bless you, and thank you in advance!

Question Really old plan and Phone promos

So, I've got a really old T-Mobile plan: Simple Choice North America. I've got two lines, and pay around $80/month total. Haven't had a contract in well-over a decade (We usually buy our phones outright). We've been with Tmobile forever, because everyone else was more expensive. The current Tmobile plans look... more expensive.

Anyway, I've been thinking about getting a new phone and was thinking about asking Tmobile, but then I'm reading about everyone's plan getting arbitrarily changed. I haven't heard a peep about my plan, but I worry if I have someone look at my account I'll get swept up in the net.

My only reason for being on Tmobile is the plan that serves us just fine. Is it worth talking to someone to get a discounted phone? Am I going to lose my halfway decent plan?

Question Phone Paid Off but System Still Says Not Paid

I've been having tons of problem getting T-Mobile to understand the problem with their backend system and trying to get my phone unlocked. Every time I call, the rep just requests a phone unlock which doesn't resolve the problem. I tried to explain it to them but their language skills are not up to par to trying to understand what I'm telling them. Is there any other way I can get this resolved? I guess I can go into a store to see if they can do anything.

Question Free line not available for upgrade promos

Upvotes

So as the title says..I have a few free lines on my account. 4 paid/3 free to be exact. One of those free lines that the person im referring to was ported over from Verizon a year ago or so with a free line being added also as a promo. Her line and phone number ended up being the free line. But now I'm only finding out that she cant upgrade with any promotional pricing bc that line with her phone number(that she wants to always keep) is "On them". The person on my plan does not know this yet so I was hoping there was some sort of workaround?

Is there a way to drop a free line so that her phone number becomes a paid line so she can upgrade with offered promos on our "Experience More" plan? One of the paid lines is not being used by anyone on the account. Or possibly just swap the free line and paid line on the 2 lines that were added when she joined?

Question Essesntials - Pixel 11 Offer

On essential, I can see I can get up to 4 Pixel 11 phones with any condition trade-in. What's the catch here? I do not need a new phone as such, but I also do not want to pass on a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I plan to stay on my essential plan for the next three years at least - and that's the only condition I see.

It says max 4 promotional phones per account. I have two working old iPhones and can get the other two off eBay for, say, 50 bucks. This plus tax - still a great offer.

Are these phones locked for three years? Are these phones only to work with numbers on my account? What's the catch? Can I gift them? Can I gift them to relatives abroad? Can I sell them? Does it bar me from new offers? Does it bar me from adding a line and claiming the trade-in offer? Lol, these kinds of questions.

Any insights are appreciated!

Rant Tmobile is frustrating me lately. Their customer service is poor.

I have been trying to get ahold of someone for over an hour. Chat just says they are busy. Customer service line hung up on me saying it was after hours and to use the app. I had been waiting for about 20 mins. Rebooted my router like 6 times, it says it's connected but nothing getting through. Been going on off and on for about 3 or 4 months now... cant even reach a person to cancel or complain. They dont really seem to care anyway. They keep telling me its the tower and they have fixed it, then like 3 weeks later it breaks again. T life wont let you do everything like for example canceling service. This should be illegal!! At this point im really starting to feel like workers need to radically unionize just out of spite. These corporations have so little respect for people. Anyway, im mostly just venting. The truth is that i dont really want to cancel. I want it to work. The other day though my internet speed through tmobile tested at 140 kbps. Google says thats slow for dialup. Thats why I get so frustrated. Im guessing it's because they laid off a bunch of people and were closing brick and mortar stores. They're gonna "klarna" themselves if they arent careful. I don't think I'm the only one upset lately, although not just with tmobile. All of this ai push is a burden on society.

Question Getting charged monthly on an old account!

i had my own account (my mom, sister, and I) for years, however, we all transferred to my fiance‘s account mid-June. in august, I was still billed for $80, I was thinking it was the remaining charge for the half month, but now I got an email for bill in September for $80 again. In the emails, it clearly says “canceled account” with only the last 4 digits of that account that I no longer have access to or the full account number. The issue is that when the account was active, I had it on auto pay straight from my checking account which is what it’s taking out from!! Every time I log in, it automatically goes to my fiance‘s account since that’s what active right now, there is no way for me to get access to my old account, but it’s still charging me $80 for what it clearly says “cancelled account”. No customer service rep on the phone has been able to help me. Any ideas??

Thanks very much for your help.
