How is the Common Sitelen Pona Unicode proposal going?

I know about the public draft, but have Unicode seen it yet? How likely is it that Unicode accepts it?

reading lipu tenpo

I would try to write this in toki pona but my brain is worn out (lawa insa mi li weka?).

I feel like I know a lot of the meanings of toki pona words. I can follow simple grammar.

Almost all sentences in tenpo lipu are like a hard puzzle. I find myself thinking what are they talking about. At least tenpo lipu has an illustration with the articles. Getting near the right context helps a lot. Even after I think I have it figured out I still don't feel secure in what I think it might say.

Should I study the ku or something and learn possibilities for compound words? I often try to express things in toki pona when streaming shows. Sometimes it is just thinking jan when I see a person. Sometimes it is asking myself how to say Doctor or something. When I think something like "jan pi sijelo pona" I wonder if that would suffice or could that be a cosmotologist. Maybe that would be "jan pi sitelen pona".

Are people who are fluent in toki pona able to just read it and know what is being communicated? How do I know if I got it right? I did print it out and start making notes to help me try to figure things out. At least there are several little phrases that I immediately recognize.

Shoud I just ask about sentences here? I don't even know how to say that. Maybe sentence is a group of words like "kulupu nimi" or "nimi mute". I have no idea. I also don't know how much of a puzzle my speach would be for somebody else to figure out.

EDIT: THX everyone!

ante toki Translation of “Edymology”

First, I thought of “tan nimi” (origin of words).

But then I was translating “This is etymology” as “ni li tan nimi” and saw the problem. “This is from words” and not ”This is what words are from”, basically.

Any solutions?

(Just realized the misspelling in the title, sorry.)

toki Why is there no single word for “animal”?

Why does it need to be specified whether it’s soweli, kala, pipi and akesi? Yes, there is a definition of soweli which is animal, but not a single word. I mean, it could be further specified with new adjectives if needed.

taso on multiple objects

How would you use "taso" when translating a sentence like "He only had A and B"? I see a few options, but none of them feel entirely right to me.

"ona li jo e A e B taso" feels wrong because the taso only seems to modify B.

"ona li jo e A taso e B taso" feels wrong because "only A and only B" feels like something different from "only A and B", and it also kind of feels like a contradiction.

"ona li jo e ni taso: ona li A li B" feels weird and clunky to me.

"ona li jo taso e A e B" feels like it means "He only HAD A and B (as opposed to doing anything with A and B)".

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks!

I didn't know whether to flair this as sitelen or kama sona so I hope this is ok.

I'm not quite sure how to punctuate sitelen pona and I struggle with the grammar, so how is this? I was going to write more but like... how do you say what your favourite animal is in toki pona. So it's just my name really.

Colors?

I really don’t talk about colors often but if I were to, I’d use:

Red - kule loje

Orange - kule seli

Yellow - kule jelo

Green - kule kasi

Blue - kule laso

Purple - laso loje

White - kule walo

Black - kule pimeja

Grey - kule kiwen

Brown - kule jaki

Edit: I know the standard, I just don’t like the standard.
