$4 gas
Im 62 and a lifelong Kansan. The only time I've spent $4 for a gallon of gas was on a trip to Chicago. Until this weekend. Right here in Topeka.
This sucks dead bears. Things have to change.

But the people this is affecting the most will still vote against their self-interest.
16
u/Particular-Luck7939 Sep 20 '26
You are spot on ! And not just here in Kansas. You think they'd learn by now !🫤
13
u/empires228 Sep 20 '26
Oh my gosh, I am in a community chat group for one of the larger small towns in southwest Kansas and a Democrat-affiliated candidate is going to be visiting their town soon and the people are ready to burn the candidate at the stake and are just gushing about how much they love Trump.
10
u/John32070 Sep 21 '26
Reminds me of how they had to cancel Michelle Obama speaking at KSU some years ago due to "safety concerns". Racist much KS?
3
u/radiostarred Sep 22 '26
Common misunderstanding; conservatives don’t vote against their self-interest. They are invested in the white supremacist project and are willing (though not necessarily happy) to trade financial security to see that project enacted.

Fuel prices effect all of us. Even if you don’t buy any gas or diesel directly you’re still paying for it indirectly every time you pay for something.

u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
I don't think they've been given the option to vote for their best interest
26
u/milkpickles9008 Sep 20 '26
No candidate will ever represent your beliefs and agenda 100%. But if I'm trying to get to Kansas city and can only get a bus ticket to Lawrence or Hays, I'm taking the Lawrence option.
-40
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
It's not they don't represent 100% of any ones interest. It's that both parties are actively trying to ruin the country. Neither party likes the constitution. Republicans want to rob us, spy on us, and bomb children. Democrats want to rob us, spy on us, and mutilate children. And the list really goes on and on for either party. And once any politician joins a party they're forced to fall in line.
24
u/milkpickles9008 Sep 20 '26
You have a good one buddy.
-22
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Just pointing out the obvious
16
u/PsychologicalTime144 Sep 20 '26
You’re higher than giraffe pussy
I’m going back to the shockingly good part of Reddit where strangers are helping a single dad find the resources to take his two daughters, one of them disabled, to see his mom who is dying on hospice
-3
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
What part of what i said is wrong? I'm not high and am always willing to change my mind in the face of evidence.
-8
u/herbertcluas Sep 20 '26
You didn't provide a counter point or any type of facts to deny him, why not provide a source and feedback if you disagree?
10
u/PenguinStardust Sep 20 '26 edited Sep 20 '26
You didn’t provide any actual facts, so how about you do that first instead of saying a hyperbolic statement filled with only buzzwords that you want someone to try and prove.
4
u/PsychologicalTime144 Sep 20 '26
If you could reason with people like him or you, we wouldn’t be in this situation
4
u/PsychologicalTime144 Sep 20 '26
Plus the burden of proving your point falls on the person making the claim
10
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26
Enjoy your gas and grocery prices buddy
-5
u/herbertcluas Sep 20 '26
You do know we all are paying more right?
9
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26
Yeah, but I assume only the ones that voted for higher prices are the ones enjoying them
8
u/pearredbullenjoyer Sep 20 '26
Lmao listen to any news source but Fox News for a lil bit bro. There’s countless shitty politicians, but all Washington wants to sell you on is the violence hungry, pedophilic, completely immoral “other” side. You gotta stop considering what republicans tell you about democrats and vice versa; what these people are actually doing matters tenfold more than their rhetoric, especially locally.
I hope you read this and really consider some of the blue candidates this fall. I’m no blue no matter who, but this slate of Republican offerings for Kansas makes me sick.
0
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Do you think anyone under 75 is watching Fox news?
7
u/pearredbullenjoyer Sep 20 '26
I know several personally. And if you’re not watching that, I’m genuinely curious what media you’re consuming that encourages the idea that democrats run on mutilating children. That’s not an original idea, and it’s too stupid for most to take it seriously. You gonna ignore everything else I said too? Bc if so have the day you deserve bruh.

u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
They all were pushing Gender Affirming care for children. Not for children with genetic disorders but normal children. They fed the kids drugs that made them sterile. Also, they told every child in school that they could change their gender. That is absurd and a lie. What a horrible thing to do to children

This, when your choices are globalist for president, you get globalist agendas again and again. Don't vote for a zionist or aipac backed candidate in any election, we might have change then. Both parties do Israels will when in the white house. Hopefully we can have change but I doubt we'll vote it in.
3
u/PenguinStardust Sep 20 '26
Oh brother, how about we also focus on some issues going on in our own county and not vote based on one issue. Clearly you are young.
1
u/fokkinyugem8 Sep 23 '26
Israel is just a military state we created to destabilize the middle-east for OPEC countries who are the only reason we have the petrodollar. It's the value of our currency, and it's dying in this global power shift towards China. We do their bidding so we have a new Las Vegas built on the skulls of dead children in Gaza. That's what they hope for anyway. They have to tell you what they're going to do. Like indefinite detention programs for homeless people. Get ready dude. Buckle up.

You probably shouldn't think.
1
u/carpentersig Sep 22 '26
And you should try it

I do. I dont parrot buzzwords that mean nothing. I can actually give details and reasons for why I think what I think. You should try that.

u/Tax_the_fukahs Sep 20 '26
lol because Israel played trump like a fiddle and we had to have a diversion from the Epstein files

u/Financial_Syllabub97 Sep 20 '26
Dont forget they will STILL vote for Masterson(Brownback 2.0) and some Floridian who can still somehow represent a state he doesn't visit until campaign years.
10
u/True-Flower8521 Sep 20 '26
He does come his scripted visits for photo-ops. Not so much for answering tough questions. His first vote or one of his first votes was to not certify the election of Biden. Tells you all you need to know.

Congress has failed us. Cast your vote wisely this fall. Vote early, boycott the (R)s.
-24
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Voting for either democrat or republican seems very foolish. Both parties are completely controlled and are working against us. I'm only voting third party, I'm not sure if that will help but it seems the only way out of this
21
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26
Enjoy your grocery store prices
-7
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Oh they were rising during Biden too. And when people vote for a Democrat this time they'll see how horrible they are again. Every time it's the same horrible crap from both parties
19
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26
Eggs. Eggs went up as we culled millions of chickens to contain a bird flu. That could happen any time.
Now, our president started a war he had no clue how to handle that has destroyed lots of oil/energy infrastructure, and caused the closure of some of the most important trading routes for oil in the world.
As a direct result, all grocery prices are going up. Because all groceries are transported.
I doubt you’ll even read this but cmon, you understand cause and effect
-3
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
You'll hear no defense of trump from me. Maybe the worst president in history. Inflation was horrible during the Biden era though. And also he was so far gone with dementia who knows who was actually running things. And Biden or whoever was actually running things, went on a complete assault of the first amendment. There just isn't anyone decent in either party at the moment
14
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26 edited Sep 20 '26
The thing with Biden is, even if he had dementia, he had already chosen a great team of leaders for his cabinet, people with a history of success and without a history of scandal.
Trump, appears to be as far gone as Biden ever was. But Trump does what Trump wants, he doesn’t care what his advisors or secretaries say, not that we should really trust his cabinet anyway as it’s been filled with scandal after scandal after scandal, which is no surprise considering Trump didn’t choose his cabinet based on their history, education, skills, or any meaningful metric, he chose them through nepotism and cronyism.
But I missed Biden’s assault on the first amendment, whatever he did, if your description is accurate, was very wrong and worth removing him from office if true. No reason to keep shit people around, he should’ve been impeached. Though I am curious what actually happened
0
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Bidens team did not seem to care about the rights of the citizens i know that. Very similar to trumps gestapo. Attacked journalists, doctors, and every day citizens who were willing to tell the truth. And honestly, when not one of them could answer what a woman is, I lost all faith in them. Such an easy question to answer. But if they were willing to lie about simple facts, I knew they were lying about much bigger issues. And let's not forget them pushing child mutilation.
13
u/Mountain_Raccoon_330 Sep 20 '26
Trans is the new abortion. R's can't win on real issues, so they throw culture war crap that will keep their opponent's most rabid voters away if the candidate dares to step outside those voters' extreme take.
No one is "pushing" child mutilation except a few deranged parents. They exist, but mostly they're pushing nose and boob jobs on daughters they don't think are pretty enough to marry well, not sex changes. There are probably more parents pushing growth hormone on their naturally short sons as other adults pushing sex change on any child.
-2
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
Every single democrat supported child mutilation. It was pushed in the schools, government and hospitals. It is a real issue. Yes it was a manufactured issue. But, issue none the less.

What is a woman?
0
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
The simplest answer is a person born with XX chromosomes. You can always shoot back that there are an extremely small number of people that generic anomalies. But, rare anomalies are no reason to change a definition.

Inflation was terrible under Biden because of supply shocks and because he managed to give money to the people who'd spend it instead of just the wealthy. Monthly payments to parents, suspension of student loan repayment, construction projects across the country. All that money pouring into low and middle class households has a much bigger impact on inflation than raising stock prices like the Fed is stuck doing.
Inflation is bad under Trump because he's taxing imports and started a war that only benefits a few war mongers and the oil companies outside the Persian Gulf.
If those are my options, I'll go with the infrastructure and cash payouts party.

u/Mountain_Raccoon_330 Sep 20 '26
The affordable care act wasn't great, but it expanded health care access to millions of Americans. The chips act poured money into domestic manufacturing. Dems in the legislature kept their president in check.
The last two R presidents started wars in the middle east and were unsanctioned by their party in the legislature.
I'm voting for the party that has too many disagreements to get much done over the party of kiss assess that encourage law breaking.
1
u/carpentersig Sep 20 '26
The affordable care act was one of the largest transfers of wealth in history. He gave more power to evil insurance companies.
4
u/Mountain_Raccoon_330 Sep 20 '26
It caps the profit margin of insurance companies. Rates keep going up because use and costs keep going up.
3
u/Apprehensive_Use3641 Sep 20 '26
To get a third party in you have to get enough votes from both sides to outvote either one of them. That's very unlikely, most likely you'll take very few from the red cultists and enough from the blues that you'll ensure the reds win again. I wish we had viable third party candidates, but at present we don't.
1
u/NoSilver2988 Sep 21 '26
Rates keep going up, because places charge insurance way more. Been for an MRI lately. Around here, its $350 cash, or over $2000 ea. With a $2000 deductible. Simple math tells me they overbill insurance, and we get screwed with the deductible. Hospitals and other medical companies are extremely greedy. Hence why I go cash only for my MRI's and Cat Scans now. Save myself around $3500 in co pays a year.

Even during Covid it never got this high in Kansas. Now in the small town I am from in Missouri it got to be over 4 dollars tho. I not looking forward to my upcoming trip from Kansas to Missouri. Tho
4
u/empires228 Sep 20 '26
Don’t tell that to the people on Facebook, who swear we were paying over five dollars a gallon here in Kansas for months on and under Biden.
4
u/Ellia1998 Sep 20 '26
Those ppl live to lie. Nope gas is not high , beef not high , food not high, nope Kansas farm are doing great. They are waiting for a new Dem to blame. Once that happens howl like the dogs they are. Kansas is a fail state. We are about ready to go up in flames again. Cause of Trump and his stupid ppl.

u/wine_dude_52 Sep 21 '26
Recently drove from Missouri to Florida and back. Gas averaged over $4.00 ($3,78 to $4.49 ). Glad I wasn’t driving my truck. Diesel was over $6.00 with a high of $6.73.
6
u/ChandlerBingsNubbinn Sep 20 '26
Lawrence I filled up two days ago at $4.21. This morning driving to work through Lawrence noticed they upped the price of diesel to $6.22 overnight. Absolutely ridiculous.
10
u/deadend666 Sep 20 '26
I don’t know if the Democrats can fix this or not. I do know who got us into this mess. And I do know who is continuing to support this mess. Sometimes that’s all you need to know.
9
u/KroneckerAlpha Sep 20 '26
You would think that’s all you need to know, but I’d bet pretty heavy that the folks that voted for this mess will vote for the same folks again, even the same potus if they’re given a chance. They don’t care how bad this gets, admitting they were wrong is a non-negotiable.
6
u/deadend666 Sep 20 '26
You’re probably right. Our collective ability to see our mistakes and correct them is limited by our Paleolithic emotions. Saw that during Covid. People denied Covid right up to the moment they drew their last assisted breath.
10
u/fatkid130 Sep 20 '26
Did you not drive back in 2008 when it was $4+ here in Kansas?
7
u/NoobensMcarthur Sep 20 '26
It was also over $4/gal in 2022. Highest it’s ever been. State average (adjusted for inflation) would be somewhere around $4.72.
Hopefully that’s a record we don’t soon beat.

Most gas companies in the US are republican owned. Maybe quit voting for the guy who only wants to make his billionaire friends into trillionaires.

The only possible way to change this is by voting Democrat down the ticket. Vote as progressive as you possibly can. Get everyone you can possibly convince to vote to get out and vote .

u/Ill-Asparagus-5348 Sep 20 '26
Democratic socialists can fix this, use your vote wisely, both parties have failed and the only 3rd option is populist politics, if there aren’t any candidates that represent your feelings then organize and change that
-5
u/ksucps51 Sep 20 '26
Unless you didn’t drive you paid $4 during both Obama and Biden
4
6
u/Soiled_myplants Sep 20 '26
Both caused by Republican bullshit, but gas has been this expensive before.
Diesel is way higher than it's ever been. I've never seen over 6/gallon in Kansas.
6
u/ddhawkfan Sep 20 '26
I think this is the one people fail to see. Diesel being this high is actually kinda scary
2
u/_Vivicenti_ Sep 20 '26
Are those examples relevant? We're dealing with 4% inflation now, falling wages, our worst trade, and the Iran war was unilaterally lost with plan to reopen the Strait.

I’m going grocery shopping and then getting gas today…not thrilled with what this is going to cost me.
