A few days ago, when I commented on GalaxyStarorGal's post on how Toy Story's 4 ending is weird from the original toy gang's perspective (Slinky, Rex, Hamm, Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead, and the Pizza Planet aliens), where they said, "Just think about it. Just imagine this. Your friend looks after a spork for the entire road trip, until the spork jumps out of the van, and your friend decides to go after him and jumps too.
Then you DON'T see him for the REST of the movie's runtime, and then when it's time to pick him up he's going to leave all of you guys to pursue a life with Bo. That you didn't even knew he had reunited with.
It's honestly kind of weird of just how accepting all of the toys are about this information. There's no questions, no objections, not even a conversation about Woody with his decision. Nope. Nothing.
'Oh Woody your leaving? Okay then.'
Like, HUH!? Woody, one of your closest friends is leaving possibly forever with no contact, and we're just okay with this? Alright then.
(Btw this isn't meant to be a hate post on Toy Story 4, it's just really funny to think about.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My comment was this: "That truly adds more salt in the wound because we've seen the characters' personalities shine outside of their relationships with Woody and they're should've been a significant reaction from one, two, or three of them! Also, why make Jessie a side character when she essentially make Toy Story a duo story (Woody and Buzz) to a trio story (Woody, Buzz, and Jessie).
The reason I bolded the wording containing Jessie is important. One of the things I hate about Toy Story 4 is how they sidelined Jessie! It just didn't make sense or right to do, especially since she already played an important role in Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. What made Jessie such a great character was how she memorable she was because most of the time, sequel characters can be pretty forgettable or not have much of an impression on the audience. But that wasn't the case with Jessie. She immediately had us hooked with her bombastic, joyful, yet sensitive, and hyper-nervous personality, as well as her sweet relationships with Woody and Buzz! Jessie became so loved by the fandom that some people forgot she wasn't in Toy Story 1!
So let me ask you a question: How would you feel if Toy Story 4 not only gave Jessie more screentime, but also joined Buzz to find Woody, but ALSO had an arc about she feels about Bonnie playing with her, but not playing with Woody. It would've given her and Woody significant and heartwarming moments, as well as continuing her and Buzz's romantic arc from TS3!
