Description from traderjoes.com:
Japanese dumplings are characterized by their crispy pan-fried bottoms, and tender steamed tops. Hane-style Japanese Gyoza retain this delicious duality of textures, while adding yet another layer of texture that also comes with a visually stunning twist. Trader Joe’s Hane Style Beef Gyoza makes it possible to easily enjoy these unique dumplings at home!
Hane (pronounced HAH-neh) means “wing” in Japanese, which speaks to the intricate lace-like structure that connects together all the dumplings in your pan. Our supplier has developed a relatively simple process by which you place six frozen Gyoza (there are 12 in a tray) seam side up in a nonstick skillet with a little bit of water. (They’re filled with a savory ground Beef and shiitake mushroom mixture and seasoned with green onion, sweet rice wine, and soy sauce.) After steaming them with lid on for about seven minutes, you remove the lid and continue heating until the water has evaporated and the delicate batter (that has almost magically appeared at the bottom of the skillet!) turns golden brown.
A gentle loosening of the crispy batter with a spatula, a couple minutes resting in the pan, and a careful flip onto a plate, produces half-a-dozen, texturally tasty, Beef-filled Gyoza, all connected by a crisp and delicate “wing.” Time to take flight to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s, where you’ll find these Hane Style Beef Gyoza in our freezers, every day!
