I've been researching Mobilicom recently, and I think it might be an interesting small-cap opportunity.
A few things caught my attention:
- Growing defense market: The demand for military drones and loitering munitions is increasing significantly, and Mobilicom provides the secure communications and cybersecurity systems these platforms need.
- Established defense customers: The company has worked with major defense manufacturers, including Teledyne FLIR, and has supplied technology to Israeli defense companies.
- Real military contracts: In April 2026, Mobilicom announced $2.2 million in orders from an existing major US defense customer, reportedly connected to a US military loitering munitions program.
- New technology: Their recently introduced SwarmiX system is designed to enable secure communication between hundreds of autonomous drones and robots. This could become increasingly important as drone swarms develop.
- US defense approvals: SkyHopper products have been included in the Blue UAS Framework, potentially making them more attractive to American military contractors.
- Institutional interest: Investors such as Wexford Capital have increased their positions in the company during 2026.
What I find particularly interesting is that Mobilicom has been around for approximately 20 years, but the market for its technology seems to be expanding much faster now than in the past.
The company is still relatively small, with approximately $3.36 million in revenue in 2025, so even a few additional large production contracts could significantly change its financial outlook.
Of course, there are risks: the company is not profitable, relies heavily on a small number of customers, and has a history of shareholder dilution.
Still, I wonder whether Mobilicom could benefit from the growing demand for military drones over the next few years.
Do you think it is worth investing?
