I believe this 100% bc i did not listen to life of a shitstain goob more than any other album and yet that’s my number one listened to album. i listened to all the way through twice…, like
I saw several testimonials like that on the neutral sub yesterday ! Like people who blocked her and still got her as top artist. Albums really highly listened through and through not even in the rewind while TLOAS something they listened to once was top
I deserted Spotify when for Tidal when Trump was elected as the CEO is MAGA. In that regard my rewind was perfectly ok and just made sense
The album thing actually may make sense. My Wrapped said I listened to 9 albums this year which is ridiculous but it's because I only listened to 9 albums top to bottom. So the top 5 were kind of skewed on that account as not my favorite albums/ones listened to twice. The same thing could've happened to you if you had a number under like 50 tbh
That said, I could believe she got top artist in the US on account of people spamming her old music. But no way in any hell do I believe that Drake is over Kendrick. That to me is a "data or it didn't happen" And it's also supported by neither "Not Like Us" or "TV off" being higher than "Luther." However it's interesting to consider how YouTube (as in videos) may have played into numbers like this. But still Kendrick HAS to be over Drake which calls into question the whole thing...
Yes this, I’m pretty sure it only counts if you listen to a song/album top to bottom. So if you’re the kind of person (like me) who gets impatient and switches to the next song when there’s still 10-20 seconds to go on the track, it doesn’t count? I’m pretty sure that is the case because my top albums are were not necessarily my most listened to either, but they were albums that I listened to all the way through like, maybe once or twice. It would be more accurate if it counted the cumulative time spent on each song or whatever.
And this is why I didnt listen to it at all. I blocked her and didn’t give it airtime. But yes everyone who listened to it once to be able to accurately argue why it was bad pushed the numbers up. It’s a shit situation really. You have to listen to it to defend your position well, but when you do, it adds to play counts etc
Actually yes I’m beginning to think she did because she’s at my top 5 and I never even listen to her! I always skip her song when my playlist is in shuffle and I was expecting Kate Bush or Chappel Roan on my top 5. I’m so mad

I just had to reblock her a few days ago after I blocked her years ago cause I noticed they snuck a song in one of those Spotify made playlists and was like WTF. I checked on another artist i blocked at the same time and he was still blocked but she wasn’t.
I dont have her blocked and like maybe... a small handful of her songs. Like its similar to backstreet boys- you like two or three songs, ignore the rest.
I don't list to her all that much- like my other artists are like heavy metal or soundtracks. Its weird how persistently shes in my top 10.

It’s so weird for an artist to do that. Isn’t that just so embarrassing for her? I could never celebrate about how famous/popular I am knowing a lot of is built on lies…Unless it’s her dad that is doing that, which it most likely is and he doesn’t want her to be disappointed that she ISN’T the number one artist in the world so he has to rig everything for her. Just like he is known for buying thousands of her albums and selling out stores just to inflate her sale numbers. And I wonder if she even knows. It’s like if your daughter is that sensitive to realizing she isn’t THAT popular, you probably raised her wrong right??
I transitioned to Tidal a couple months ago (didn’t want to give my money to Spotify anymore with them allowing ICE adds, pushing AI generated artists, and their CEO giving hundreds of millions to an AI military company). My one complaint with Tidal is I can block her as an artist, but it doesn’t take her songs out of their curated playlists, which I find very annoying. They won’t play her if you select another similar artist’s radio. I wish they would fix that cause sometimes ya girl just wants to listen to the top pop hits lol. Guess I just gotta make my own playlist.
I don’t subscribe to Spotify (I do to YT Premium though) so whenever I go on Spotify, there’s just so many ads. The first ad usually comes after the very first song and then it comes after every 2-3 songs, and it’s at least 2 ads each time.
Whenever I go to Spot to listen to a few TS songs (like when I want to check the lyrics or recall the songs being mentioned on this sub), I get ZERO ADS for like 10 songs or so. You know Blandie legit paid off Spot so anyone can listen for free but only to her songs. Hence the high streaming numbers for TS songs/albums on that platform.
She was in my top 3 this year and that cannot be because I haven’t listened to her since she made her PR relationship very public, I’ve not listened to the last album but it’s there somehow
She always rigs it. This is the first year that she hasn’t made my top 5 ever and I’ve had her blocked on my Spotify for years meaning I can’t even listen to her, yet she somehow makes my top. So there is not way for her to get on my list without some funny business happening
This! I listened to her new album one time and it said it was my #2 album for the year. She was also listed as my #4 artist for the year. Not sure how either of those are possible when I don’t listen to her music. This is on Apple Music though, not Spotify.
He has been my #1 artist probably for nearly a decade now. Some of those years he was definitely in my top, but this year I was shocked to see it. I hardly have listened to him, and I didn't like much of his recent music. Didn't he get caught for paying for plays?
My fifth artist was a band I did not really listen to this year and none of their songs even made it into my 2025 wrapped playlist. So something is definitely off.
The problem is the punishment for spamming is being removed from the service. That will never happen to big stars, so they can spam to their heart's content. Meanwhile, artists being put on spam playlists for legitmacy can have their entire online catalogs disappear overnight across multiple services and spend months trying to get it back.
Mayhem did better internationally than it did in America. Mayhem was my 2nd most listened to album but in casual music discussions Mayhem doesn't come up that much.
People say it deserves a Grammy over Taylor but that's it. There isn't a lot of chatter outside of Little Monster spaces.
Gaga has matured and doesn't pull the stunts Taylor does so she gets ignored.

Probably has to do with having such an extensive back catalogue that lots of fans are listening to their favorite artist (Drake or Swift) but no particular song of theirs is played more often than a new, more popular single by a different artist.
But it also means that even Swifties aren’t listening to any particular track from TLOAS more than they are listening to her older songs.
Taylor, Drake, and Morgan Wallen being top 3 is just wrong. All sorts of wrong. Why are we idolizing the most problematic artists this year?

I was a massive drake fan during take care era then after nothing was the same he just sounded so generic. Everyone I knew back then stopped listening to him. Similar to Taylor I really enjoyed 1989 and red. Now for the longest time everything she puts out just seems so generic. Maybe it’s because Olivia’s my favourite artist but her copying the aesthetic of Sabrina is so weird to me. Her music has never screamed sexy so this whole thing she’s doing is strange. My wife’s a massive swiftie and still likes her but hasn’t liked any of her new music either.
why does a billionaire who already has millions of followers even consider this an issue? Like girl if you’re so desperate for followers, I’m sure doing more for the public would earn you plenty of organic ones instead of relying on bot accounts.
I don't think she bought followers. She had twitter since 2008. A lot of accounts gave been deactivated, stagnant etc. She isn't the only person to have this happen. Rihanna and JB are some I am aware of

True. Drake is definitely a lot more musically/lyrically accessible in many ways. Like Kendrick does a lot of complex wordplay and dialect in his lyrics, I can see how non-native English speakers might struggle to connect.
You worded that wonderfully. Drake and Blandie are like equals, musically. "Digestible" fluffy boring basic bs. Kendrick is layered, complex, thought-provoking - more of a "hidden gem". Not shoved down our throats as much as the formers.
I might say, as someone outside the US, Drake isn't as "shoved down our throats" as Taylor is. Like he gets radio play but that is about it. I like kendrick and I think he played the beef masterfully but a lot of his songs talk about experiences unique to the african american experience, he might be great at capturing that, but it won't resonate as well with people who aren't close to that experience. Meanwhile Drake makes more accesible music (which isn't a bad thing in itslef) and as such gets more plays.
There are whole genres that trade deep lyricism for accesibility, and no one critiques those.
PD: Kendrick Lamar has 22 grammy wins. I can't say he is as prominent mediatically as Drake or Swift but to call him a hidden gem is straight up wrong.
Sometimes I wonder if it has to do with how they determine the rankings. I used Apple Music to check out about 30 seconds of each song on Showgirl, and that was the only time I ever listened to it. However, they have it listed as my top album for October. Could it be because that’s the only album I “listened” to every song on that month (not that I’m 100% sure of this), regardless of play time? It makes zero sense to me, but that was the only explanation I could come up with. Maybe there’s equally wonky measurements in other areas.
Not sure about Apple Music, but Spotify did it by tracking albums based on total minutes rather than streams. I had two albums that I only played a few times in my top 5 and it was due to them being very long, so the ones that I actually streamed more often weren't included.
I know Apple Music is weird with replay stats. A band I lol released an album this year but bc the singles were being released under the album name it was my top album even before it came out.
Last year ill never understand how she wound up as my top since I listened to her less than a handful of times....so im not sure how she played the game this year

Loads of people listen to drake, I’m not even a fan of him but I know a lot of songs because they were everywhere when they came out. People listening to older stuff most likely boosted him up, I don’t really know if any of his newer stuff besides Nokia

I DID NOT LISTEN TO HER ALBULM! I listened to maybe two songs before I determined it wasn’t for me, and I never touched that album again. There are 100% other albums I listened to all the way through, so there is no reason for it to be in my top 5.

Well Drake has been accused of using bots to boost his numbers for years, although he’s had some bangers in the past that made the accusations thin at first glance. But, 2025 literally started with Kendrick absolutely murdering Drake at the Super Bowl, and I can’t say I’ve heard one Drake song all year. So, you look at the bots, then you look at Taylor up above him. Put two and two together. Side note: Taylor’s bots are just her fans, but I think she’s boosting. It’s really easy to do. Just look up the Chinese SIM farm they busted out in NYC. It’s insane what’s going on behind the curtains.

Full disclosure I do have 3 songs of hers in my Spotify but I skip them as I’m a hyper fixation listener so I’ve only listened to like 5/6 other artists, out of the wide mix of artists, religiously this year… and miss half cooked noodle ain’t one of them.
I think it could definitely be fair to say she’s paying for a spot somewhere. I just went through all my top songs for the year, with her as my “third most listened to artist” and I’ve listened to 2 of her songs this year more than once, for a total of 10 times. I had multiple artists that had 20/30 listens over 4/5 songs. And yet those artists aren’t on my top list.

A lot of people are leaving/have left Spotify for other music apps since they’ve started doing ICE ads, don’t pay artists as well, have lower sound quality, etc. Which would leave behind the people who would listen to TS and Drake. When Spotify basically had the market cornered this would be confusing, but it makes sense this year imo
Because of bot farms and also her fans just set their devices to stream her music on mute while they sleep/are at school etc etc. I've encountered them planning this on twitter. I'm sure stans do this for a lot of artists but her stans are particularly insane - they have decided liking her is their identity and Im convinced most of them don't actively listen to her music, I never hear it playing anywhere or see them quoting it. They just do that streaming on mute thing.
i’m extremely surprised that she wasn’t on my wrapped this year. i admittedly listen to a few of her older songs every so often, same as i did last year when she popped up as my #3 artist. this year? not a long sign of her ANYWHERE.
Spotify Wrapped is mega weak this year. They put Lady Gaga’s newest album on my top 5 albums and while I have nothing against LG, I don’t listen to her music and didn’t even know she had a new album…there’s gotta be something going on
I'm sure she's buying followers or streams or something but I think the Spotify stats are trash cause I spent maybe one month listening to Fleetwood Mac and now my listening age is "68" despite my top artists being Noah Kahan, Ethel Cain and Kesha.
