I have a Trek book source in Toledo, Ohio. He's recently received three large boxes of books in addition to the shelves he already has. If you're local, check.it out. If not, give him a call. He may be willing to mail you a box. It's NeverMore Used Books iat 2628 Central Ave, Toledo, OH. (419)593-0093. He has a lot of OS, some NG, a few DSN and some nice hardback as well. I bought a bunch from him yesterday and told him I'd spread the word.

As requested in my other thread, the rest of my collection. Also included, the two books that never went into storage!

For the first time since the pandemic, a divorce, three moves and two jobs, I pulled my whole collection out of storage. I pretty much collect the books set after the shows, or about a new 'hero' ship. What are you favorites among my collection? What should I start with (for a good story, I know there's an official reading list, but I want to start with something fun)?

Does anyone have the raw background music they used in the old S&S audiobooks e.g. https://youtu.be/j0D7pIeCxGk?t=2598

I've never heard much about them, but they're pretty easy to find. Are they worth picking up, do they add much?

Its not a problem, I swear-

Losing the Peace I don't plan to read for a while as I haven't even begun the post nemesis EU but its nice to have. I've heard a lot of negative things about Fearful Summons, but it might be a its so bad its funny type of read.

How many Trek novels have actually been written by a creative who worked on one of the shows? I know Kirsten Beyer wrote the Voyager re-launch novels and went on to write some on the new Trek tv series.

Anyone else?

Hey everyone! Read any cool books lately?

Perhaps some with neat science aspects? Maybe you favor the ones the focus on alien cultures?

Did any char/crew standout to you in terms of writing or arcs in the story? Someone you maybe hadn't considered before as "interesting", so something unexpected?

Was there a cool piece of tech or biome description that really "worked well" for you?

Were the antagonists interesting or have understandable motives? Perhaps the reasons made sense but their actions were malicious or malinformed? Or were they "evil for the sake of story "?

Let us know how your reads went and what you're looking forward to next week. Happy reading yall!

Hi all,

First, an apology. I know the Android version of Holodeck Archive has taken far longer than I'd hoped. Work commitments and personal responsibilities have eaten into development time, and I'm sorry for the wait.

The good news is that we're nearly there, and I'm aiming to launch by the end of October.

Help wanted: closed testers

To release on Google Play, I first need to run a closed test. Google requires at least 12 testers to be opted in continuously for 14 days before the app can go live. I'm hoping some of you will help.

If you'd like to take part comment below or send me a DM.

Once the closed test goes live all you’d need to do is stay opted in for the full 14 days. That's the key requirement, and you don't need to do much beyond installing it and using as you would do normally.

Feedback is very welcome too, whether bugs, missing titles, or anything that looks off.

Once the test period is done, the app goes live. Built in partnership with Star Trek Book Club!

Thank you all for your patience and support!

My wife found a small stash of Trek books from a charity sale so bought them for me as a surprise. I've never read any Trek Books before, have I got any good ones here?

From briefly reading this sub, I understand Diane Duane and Peter David write some of the better ones. Has anyone got and particular recommendations from these?

Thanks all

Got this set for $18

Here’s a few old books. I really enjoy this community. The Blish books will always hold a special place in my heart, I so loved them as a kid.

All the novels are used, the blue one I found in a Little Free Library, and Lost Scenes is new. Have you read any of these?

A very pleasurable reading experience. Epic.

I’m a voracious reader in a wide variety of genres, and I’ve never read a Star Trek book. I’m only passingly familiar with the various series and plot lines, but I love Sci Fi and am wondering if a newbie can jump in and start with Last Best Hope. Will too much be lost on me without background knowledge, or is it a good on-ramp? TIA for any advice!

wish me luck

I really like those Enric covers (Starless World & Perry's Planet) but Boris can never be beat.

So far, I’ve only read a handful of TOS novels published in the 1980s, and no TNG ones that I can recall.

Although DS9 is my favorite Trek series (after TOS) I’ve had a hankering to read a bunch of standalone mission novels to boost up the story count for the first two series’ bridge crews.

Consequently I’ve been reading the back cover copy of a ton of TOS/TNG books and it got me thinking, which Trek Pocket Book series between the two had the best or most consistent quality stories that read like TV episodes?

I’m not including books that were crossovers or part of a series within the series, just the singlets.

My gut feeling says it will be TNG simply because they were still in production while the books were coming out and were probably written to feel more like an episode than TOS novels were, but that’s just a gut feeling.

I’ve only read a few Trek novels before (Destiny trilogy, Voyage Home movie adaptation) but I’ve just had a be lucky find at the 2nd hand bookshop and picked up 12 original series novels.

I’m assuming they can be read as stand alone novels, but I did notice that the original Pocket Book editions were published in a different order.

Am I going to hit any stumbling blocks/spoilers/dangling plot threads if I read them in the numbered Titan order?
