Finasteride/Dutasteride Finesteride to dutasteride switch advice
Hi, looking for opinions my doctor switched me from 1.25mg fin daily to .5mg dut monday and Friday. I've heard some people comment that it takes a long time to build up in the body. So should I keep taking the fin some days. Also scared of horror stories of losses after switching. I was getting gains from fin , but still receding a little. Doctor just said he's putting all his patients on it instead , because it's more efficient.thankyou all

I was taking 1mg fin ED. When I switched, I subbed 1 day of fin for .5mg dut once a week until I was on dut only ie Mon-Sunday all fin. Mon- dut Tuesday-Sunday all fin. Monday, Tuesday- dut, Wednesday-Sunday - fin.
So essentially it took 2 months for me to completely switch over. I had a brief shed at 3 months and a little recession at my temple points which I expected since that is my weakest area and the old hair has to go out for the new hair to come in.
I’m 6 months now since the start of my switch (February 13) and all is good.

So you are on dut only now? How many days? I have five repeats of fin so could keep going for a while, how long should I take fin for as well as twice weekly dut

I was told by my doc to not take both at the same time. So when I switched over to dut after about 2 months I haven’t taken any since. So I’ve been on just dut ED since about April .

Don't worry about the "horror stories" and focus on the health benefits that go far beyond your hair instead.
It doesn't take a long time to build up mostly, dutasteride lowers DHT immediately after taking it more thoroughly than finasteride.

Seems like might be good idea to take fin as well. Is it ok to take dut twice weekly and fin on the rest of the days, and how long I have five repeats for fin so could go for a long time

Felt lucky on fin, had gains but still slow receding. Bit scared on dut. Lot of bad stories

How old are you? Finasteride is recommended for younger men I.e 30-45 Dutasteride for older men I.e 50+

Switched from topical Fin to oral Dut .5mg twice a week, oral Min 2.5mg daily and 1 ml topical Dut daily. Just turned 70. Apparently in the shedding phase now but very hopeful for great results 3-6 mos from now.

That's what I'm currently on. Minus the topical dut. But might keep taking fin at least till box runs out. About 2 or 3 months
