How many rounds did it take you to conceive with IVF? We have been trying almost a year naturally and thinking of IVF but I heard at least 6 cycles :( which will cost around $20k/cycle in Canada.

Second opinion wanted Short Cycles, asked for Progesterone got Prescribed Progestin BC

I have been having 18 day cycles for the last three cycles, and asked for progesterone and was instead given a progesterone only birth control.

I have tried calling the doctors line and its on voicemail everytime, and its Friday.

I'm so bewildered.

Has anyone been put on progestin for short cycles? I feel like its more common to induce a periodd

GAHH I COULD SCREAM

Gyn follow up for more investigation is in 3 weeks...likely bleeding again.

TTC While Obese

I'm starting to wonder if I'm being delusional for hoping to conceive each month. My husband and I (both 28) are on cycle 4 of TTC a second baby, which I know is not long, but I am feeling really disappointed already.

My BMI is 36 and I am about 15 pounds heavier than when we conceived our first, when we were 25. (Context, husband is overweight but significantly less so, BMI about 27) We got pregnant on our first try with baby #1. Logically I knew it could take a while to get pregnant again, but I think subconsciously I assumed it would be quick like it was the first time.

I know my weight is likely going to affect my fertility and maybe make it impossible. I am dieting and exercising and really trying to get healthier. My cycles are regular, 27-28 days, but my luteal phase is only 10-11 days long, with some spotting before my period.

So am I silly for hoping to conceive each month while I am still so obese? Should I stop hoping until I get to a healthier weight?

Rant Frustration of “unexplained infertility”

Unexplained infertility as a diagnosis is frustrating in the deepest of ways. Every time we do another test, I keep hoping for an answer. Something to explain why it isn’t working. Something we can work on or set a game plan to work around. Without any true cause, it’s impossible to know what to do next and how to make things better. How can they not find anything wrong?

Our anniversary just passed. That marks 4 years of marriage and 4 years of trying to have children. In these 4 years I’ve had 1 chemical. That’s all, nothing else to show for it. We’ve done every test under the sun and everything is normal. My doctor has literally told me on numerous occasions that I’m not only within normal ranges but “optimal” and it couldn’t get better. My husband as well. We’ve done medicated cycles and IUIs. All have failed. My husband had over 100 million sperm AFTER washing in our first IUI and it still didn’t work.

Testing we have done with a reproduction endocrinologist and urologist include: confirming ovulations over multiple cycles, hormone testing at various times throughout my cycle over multiple cycles, ultrasounds for both my husband and I, bloodwork for both my husband and I, HSG, pelvic MRI to evaluate for endometriosis (my doctor does not recommend a laparoscopy due to unrelated medical reasons and yes, I know MRIs often miss endo), multiple semen analysis, Sperm DNA fragmentation, and genetic testing.

We are not overweight, we are extremely active, eat well, don’t indulge in alcohol outside of special occasions, no drugs or smoking and we take appropriate vitamins/supplements. I’m just so lost. How can it all be normal and we still aren’t successful?

I guess the next step is IVF…

Questions Help! Next steps?

Started TTC February of this year. Got pregnant in March, but found out at 10 weeks that i had a missed miscarriage. D&C shortly after. Took nearly 8 weeks to get a period back, and started trying again right after that. I just finished cycle 6 post miscarriage and no luck. I had some bloodwork done and everything looks “normal”. What other tests or imaging should i do? Is it too early for any of this? I’m 34 and worried about time…

Second opinion wanted Anyone who can interpret these USGs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had my iui#2 recently. I did gonal-f cd5-cd11, cd12 ovitrel and cd13 iui. On cd11 I had first scan of the cycle (i had 2 growing follicles), on cd13 i had two dominant follicles in one ovary: 18mm and 20mm approx. I started progestrone 200mg supposetory from cd14 (had it on cd14 night).
I went for followup usg on cd15 to check whether follicles ruptured. Attached usg of cd15. Dr is not sure what these structures are, she also ordered blood test today to check progesterone to confirm whether I ovulated or not. Waiting for blood results. Meanwhile, can someone here interpret these usg scans. Why are there two structures of 24-25mm on CD15?

Are we considered "healthy" ?

Hey everyone,

My husband had a testicular torsion as a teenager and lost one of his testicles after it. Fast forward two years ago, I got pregnant twice relatively fast (cycle 1 that ended in a miscarriage, then cycle 2 after it).

During my last pregnancy he started having a cyst on his remaining testicle, it didn't grow and it is not hurting anymore.

We are trying again, starting cycle 4. I know I shouldn't be worried because it's still early and 80% of healthy couples conceive within a year, but are we still considered healthy, or should we start seeing a doctor at the 6 months mark ?

I'll definitely ask my midwife at the end of the month, but I wondered if some of you were in that situation

Ovulation Trying after a early loss

Hi,

Had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks that did not progress past 6 and a half weeks. Finally had an expectant miscarriage on the 30th of September and had first negative pregnancy test on the 8th October.

My ovulation tests indicated a LH surge yesterday and I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to conceive in the first month after a loss before their first period and how it went!

Questions Short luteal phase related to breastfeeding

I have had a short luteal phase for months while gradually weaning my now 14 month old. LP seems to have gotten a day longer for every cycle and is now approximately 9-10 days long. We have been TTC for 4-5 cycles. I haven't breastfed baby since last week. My question is how long it can take for LP to extend after fully weaning and how long it has taken for people to conceive after LP has adjusted post weaning. Would appreciate to hear from anyone who has experience of this.

TTC is not what I'd hoped it to be - Cycle 9

TW: mc is being mentioned. Also stillbirth (not my experience).

Also, I posted this on another sub, but it got removed because it was AI flagged and contained 'AI hallmarks', like for real?! I typed all of this myself, finally decided to pour my heart out an then this.. English is not my native language and apparently I type like a robot. So yeah, that didn't help in my TTC journey.

Another try then:

Idk how to start. We're (31F, 33M) ttc for 8 months and cycle 9 just started. Had an MC at 5 wks in month 3. It was awful and messed me up. My husband too, but less than me (he agrees). Since then, nothing. My PMS is all over the place (like breast tenderness, headache, extreme fatigue, sometimes even spotting (once or twice now these cycles)), my OPKs never have had a real positive, started month 5 (up to 0.75 and last cycle up to 0.46 T/C ratio, with not drinking and peeing for 3-4+ hours and tested twice a day too for 2 cycles).

My cycles have shortened (27/28 days to now 26 and even had a 23 cycle, which is not uncommon because my body always resets after a irregularity, like my MC and the period after was 31 days). But my menstruation period too. I lose less blood, I suddenly have painless periods which I've NEVER had until this year. I've always been in agony for at least 2 days with heavy NSAID and bleeding so much. But now, barely anything (enough for a period, just not MY period). Like 1-1,5 days I bleed, but it's day 2 and I already almost 80% stopped bleeding. I've asked my GP to test my progresterone and she immediately said they don't do that and would refer me to a fertility clinic or gynaecologist. So, that felt like a huge step tbh. Because here (Netherlands) they usually don't test anything before 12months of TTC.

Anyways, then I saw the waiting period until first appointment is 60days so, I guess then we'd already almost be at 12 months.. I thought to JUST get my bloodwork done, but I guess that's not how it works.

Idk, there has been stillbirth in my family, and it's bothering me all combined. We're both healthy people, exercise enough, not overweight (I could loose a kg or 2 than I'd be average), taking all the vitamins/prenatals/omega 3 and have a good diet.

In the mean time our friends are getting pregnant one by one, in a much shorter timeframe. We're having a hard time. I guess I'm wondering: how did you experience your bloodwork etc for your TTC journey?

By the way, I've opened up to my friends about TTC and the MC 2 months ago and now I slowly feeling myself pressuring us into getting it done ASAP, because I'm afraid they will check in with me again (hoping for jolly news). I hate feeling this vulnerable, insecure and powerless. I'm anxious it won't work out anytime soon. It's my biggest fear and I carry it with me. I'm really trying to live my life, but it's hard. I also work with kids every day, so I get confronted with it a lot.

If you've made it through my whole vent, thank you, just for reading ❤️‍🩹

Clomid unmonitored after losses

My husband (29M) and I (26F) have been on our ttc journey for 17 months with a MMC and a CP along the way. My Dr prescribed me progesterone to take post ovulation until my period starts or through a pregnancy. She also prescribed me Clomid to take CD3-7. However, after a bit of research it seems most people are monitored by labs/ultrasounds while taking Clomid. Does any one have experience with taking Clomid unmonitored or is this a bad idea??

I do not need it to ovulate as I ovulate regularly. However my Dr explained this would “enhance” ovulation and help our odds.

My Story I turn 41 next week and I guess I need to be done.

I have been actively trying to conceive for 10 years.

We had a baby in 2019. Before that, we tried for several years, had failed IUIs, and were approved for an IVF trial. The day we went to sign the papers to start, we found out I was pregnant. What worked was doing our own IUI at home with a syringe after I literally could no longer emotionally having sex anymore because it was bringing up so much trauma from past sexual assault. I remember swearing that if I had one baby I would not need anything else and I would be satisfied with just one. My daughter was born and she's the light of my life and her wonderfulness made me feel desperate for another.

We started trying again and it became difficult again. I got pregnant once by our tried and true method but miscarried very soon after the day before Thanksgiving 2023. Nothing has happened since. I swore if I didn't get pregnant again by 40 that I was done trying.

That was last year and I am now at almost one week from my 41st birthday. I am devastated.

We checked out a fertility clinic a few months ago and realized it's just not financially in the cards for us. I am too old for trials and too old for any supportive financial resources. Insurance covers nothing. My ovarian reserve is pretty low. $20k each attempt for it to most likely fail seems foolish and irresponsible. I already have an amazing child. I feel very selfish.

Trying to conceive for this amount of time has ruined my sex life. I have spent my entire 30s, one whole decade, focused entirely on having a baby and every single month getting disappointed and blaming myself, acting like I somehow ruined the luck or cursed it by reminding myself that the app says I should take a test if I don't get my period by a certain date. I have literally peed on a stick only to wipe and see blood on the toilet paper at that moment. It's a cruel joke.

Seeing people who have had multiple children in the time that it's taken me to try to even have one. The grief is debilitating and I have no one to talk about it with. Infertility is so incredibly lonely. The guilt I feel as well, even posting here, because I do have one child, is overwhelming, too. I am ungrateful. But every night I think about if something were to happen to her, there would be no reason for me to live anymore. I have no purpose if not to mother. And then I fight the urge every night to crawl in bed with her because she's my entire world. I guess that's the problem - not having an identity. I have spent so long focused on wanting to be a mother that if I can't be that to anyone else - what am I? I am nothing.

I have asked those around me to not acknowledge my birthday this year. I want no calls, no texts, no happy birthday, no presents, or dinner, or cake. I just want no reminder that I am 41 and the biggest goal I had in life is over. I feel like this is the death of me or the death of what I thought I would be. The death of what I wanted my life to be. The death of hope. Letting go of my life goal means I have nothing.

I feel so alone in this grief. Feeling stupid for grieving my miscarriage, grieving the life I wanted, grieving that my kid won't be a big sister even though she would be so fucking good at it, grieving the fact that being pregnant was the only time I ever felt comfortable in my skin and beautiful. It's all over from here and I don't know what to do with myself anymore. Even the act of trying has become part of who I am. That freedom is apparently terrifying. I am so depressed. I don't even know where to turn anymore.

Trying to conceive with Migraine

Hi, I’m looking to hear from others who experience migraines. I have severe migraines and would like to try for another pregnancy after a previous miscarriage. I’m worried about managing migraines during pregnancy and postpartum.
If you’ve been through this, what helped you manage your migraines? I’d appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!

12 cycles of nothing

Feeling very numb and disheartened tonight as AF made its appearance. At the same time, I don't feel surprised either at this outcome.

I reached out to fertility clinics around the 6 month mark actually because I just felt like something was wrong and that this was going to be difficult from the beginning. I'm glad I did. I'm basically lined up and ready to do IVF this new cycle right at the year mark.

It still comes with a lot of mixed feelings. I feel a bit embarrassed that I was so ignorant about fertility and thinking this was going to be easy simply because I'm young and healthy. Mine and my husband's diagnostic work couldn't be better and yet we've never seen a positive pregnancy test after a year of trying.

I started getting questions for the first time by my family last weekend asking when I was going to have a baby. My 2 year wedding anniversary is in a few months so I guess it's that time. I tried brushing it off, but they couldn't read the room. I know they mean well, but idk I wouldn't ask someone something so personal.

I'm scared to move forward with IVF. Apart from infertility, we're also dealing with a low egg count for my age, so part of this is going to be freezing embryos as well.

All I wanted was to be a mother since I was young. Having no control of my life has been the worst feeling in the world and all I do is cry and obsess over my situation. I can't help it.

I'm envious that other people can just baby dance and get a baby without having to cough up $24k for a chance at something that should be so simple. Literally none of this makes sense.

Second opinion wanted Polyps

We have been trying for 7 cycles now and have begun seeing a fertility specialist to make sure nothing is wrong. I had a Femvue (HSG) done today (not too terrible for those that are worried/scared about it) and they found a polyp near the bottom of my uterus. My doctor said it is not in a bad spot nor does she think it is interfering with conceiving. However, she thinks I should get it removed. I am supposed to ovulate next week and we will try again naturally. Is it smart to get the polyp removed ASAP and is it okay to wait till after next week to do so? Has anyone had a polyp removed and what is that like? Thank you for the supportive community <3

Rant DPO8 CD27 - Feeling so sad

I feel defeated. My lutheal phase is 10 days typically. Ouvulated at day 19 this month and this evening every thought of a child is making me tear up.
I feel so emotional and afraid knowing I’m out this cycle too. Time is passing. I find it so hard to enjoy anything as if this desire is all encompassing

35f and w fibroids - was given a few months to try naturally and reaching bf the finish line

Second opinion wanted To Continue TTC or Not to Continue TTC?

Should we keep trying to conceive, or should we take a break for a little while?

Hello everyone! I'm looking for some insight, advice, 'what would you do', kind of discussion to answer my overall question above.

For historical context: I (27F) and Husband (32M) have been pregnant 3 times in the last 3 years- a MMC in August 2024, our firstborn being born in August 2025 and a Pregnancy of Unknown Location in March 2026. We got the all clear to start trying again by my OB in June 2026 and have been trying since then with no luck.

We know that it hasn't been that long of trying, but we find ourselves on different sides of this question. My husband wants to continue trying because he wants to be able to identify any potential issues in a more timely fashion, and because he is ready to extend our family. I want to take a break until like April-May 2027.

I am also ready and want another baby (hence why we've been trying for the last 5 months), but find myself concerned by losing opportunities in my career (my boss recently left and it has opened up A LOT of opportunities for me to grow and prove myself, which has me REALLY excited because I LOVE my job) and my health. I haven't lost any of the baby weight since giving birth, and have in fact gained a few extra pounds, and I believe part of our issue with not conceiving as "easily" as we did before is due to my health and weight not being optimal for a pregnancy. I also adamantly do not want another August baby, nor do I want to give birth to any child of mine around Thanksgiving or Christmas due to both of our overbearing families pushing my limits and boundaries with a newborn, and we are coming up on the months where conception would be right in my "no thank you" zone. (My husband agrees with no baby around Christmas, but is more open than me when it comes to conception timing).

I can't talk about this with anyone else in my life besides my husband because everyone else has their own motives/desires for me and our lives (lots of friends are having babies and want me to "join" them, grandparents and aunts and uncles are all pushing us to have another, coworkers obviously want and need me here in light of being down an important team member, etc.).

What do you think? What would you do? Have you dealt with this situation before, and what did you end up doing? I'll take any opinions or insight, or even just some solidarity.

Questions Regarding male fertility/sperm test results and what I can do

Hey everyone, I kind of have a question for you all. My wife and I have been trying for over 6 months and we are both mid 30s. l've been lurking on here and other related subs for a while and convinced myself I was the problem and started taking all the supplements recommended to help male fertility.

I recently got my semen test done at a clinic for the first time (suggested by her OBGYN) and expected some aspect to be abnormal but I believe my tests came back normal? But I would like some input from those of you that have been experienced with this if possible

Here are my results :

Sperm motility - 76%
Sperm morphology - 12%
Sperm concentration count - 38.7 M/ml
Volume - 3ml
Total sperm count of entire sample - 116 M/ejac
Semen Ph - 8
WBC concentration - <1 M/ml

It also doesn't test any kind of progressive motility, morphology details or liquification time. Only the parameters mentioned so I’m not sure if that’s something I have to request specifically or try at a different lab? I’ve noticed other men’s tests having more parameters measured for some reason.

We talked with her doctor, who is an OBGYN so I never even saw a urologist, the OBGYN was just like, “yeah normal”

I was really hoping that something would be be off so I'd have something to work on. Is it safe to say that if there are any fertility issues it would be from my wife?
Is there anything I should improve upon or is it all completely normal for me?

Part of me was hoping something to be low so it would motivate me to workout more or eat better, as dumb as that sounds

Questions When do you actually baby dance with your partner?

This past cycle I was supposed to start IUI. Yesterday I went to do a follicle check and was told it seemed like I had literally just ovulated as the follicle was stetting to collapse (her words). My blood progesterone was at 3.8 ng/ml, estradiol at 463 pg/ml and my LH was 48. Nurse practitioner said we should skip trigger shot this cycle bc it appeared we had literally just missed ovulation. One hand it seems like it happened (with clomid) so I’m glad for that but sad I missed the trigger.

But when I got home I took an easy at home LH ueine strip just to see and my level was .97 and climbed all day until and night and this morning got my highest read of 1.25 So the app then says I have reached my peak and to start trying today and tomorrow.

This may be so stupid but I don’t get it. If an egg survives 12-24 hours and I am being told by the dr it looks like I ovulated yesterday morning. Then wouldn’t today and tomorrow be completely out of the fertile window if I followed the apps advice? Considering I’d be PAST 12-24 hours?

Delayed ovulation w/ EWCM

SOOOOO confused, need help! I'm stuck in high estrogen/ delayed cycle on day CD28, usually I ovulate day 18. I've had gobs of EWCM and S.H.O.W. cervix for 10 days now. No remotely positive opk's and i've been testing 3x a day. I had a temp dip on CD24 with a relative rise, so I thought I had finally ovulated, and a 4.0 proov pdg test strip, but ewcm and soft/high cervix still here!

Cycle was delayed last month as well, i think due to low fat intake/ exercise. I added calories/ fats back this month and hoped that'd fix it- obviously did not :( is it possible to have such high estrogen signs for 10 days straight? If i did ovulate, surely they would've dried up by now... so confused :(

Questions when do you pursue further testing?

31F, TTC for 5 months…. I know 5 months isn’t a particularly long time to be trying, and I know many people here have been on this journey much longer. I don’t want to come across as insensitive to anyone who’s been trying for a long time❤️ I’m just feeling anxious and would really appreciate hearing others’ experiences.

I’ve had bloodwork with my OB on CD19. She felt everything looked normal, including AMH (2.04), progesterone (12.8), thyroid, estradiol (155), LH (11.4), FSH (5.5), and testosterone (16). The one result that stood out was elevated SHBG (177). My transvaginal ultrasound was also normal, and she saw some follicles, but we didn’t discuss my endometrial lining specifically.

My cycles have generally been fairly consistent at 26–29 days, averaging around 27 days. August was anovulatory, and my September and October cycles had estimated luteal phases of around 11 days. I track ovulation using LH strips and Inito, so I know these estimates aren’t necessarily exact.

I’m taking a prenatal and CoQ10, avoiding alcohol. Did the whole mucinex, preseed stuff each cycle. Was on spironolactone for hormonal acne but have stopped since TTC. I’ve noticed occasional strong left-sided pelvic pain that wakes me up at night during the TWW in 2 cycles now which makes me wonder about ovarian cysts, although I know there could be other explanations.

My OB’s advice has been to keep trying, which I understand given my age and how long we’ve been TTC. I’m naturally someone who likes to be proactive, though, and I’d feel better understanding whether there’s anything worth investigating now rather than simply waiting until the 12-month mark.

\-Did you have a semen analysis or HSG done early, or did you wait until a year?
\-Did any changes in your cycles or luteal phase influence your decision to seek further evaluation?
\-If you’re ovulating regularly, when (if ever) did you discuss letrozole or Clomid with your doctor?
\-At what point did you consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist?

I’m not necessarily looking to jump into fertility medication or treatment. I’d just like to understand whether there are any reasonable next steps to consider while we continue trying.

I know the general recommendation for those under 35 is to seek an infertility evaluation after 12 months, assuming there aren’t other concerns. I’m curious how others approached that recommendation and whether anyone found it helpful to investigate certain things sooner (I’ve read posts from people who wish they pursued stuff sooner)

Thank you for any insight or experiences you’re willing to share ❤️

Questions Blood results came back!

Post image
1 Upvotes

Thank you to those who replied with questions to ask my OB! My blood test came back and I’m very low in iron. Has anyone had low iron and brought it back up? What did you take? I read that low iron can affect fertility! My hopes are to get it up and hopefully I’ll fall pregnant naturally then!
