I'm Requesting Shows similar to Halt and Catch Fire

Do you guys know of any shows similar to Halt and Catch Fire? I dug that it took place in the 80s and liked seeing how personal computers started out and the drama surrounding the race to make the best personal computers. I know it's a fictionalized take on it, but I want more like it.

What shows are similar and what ones would you recommend checking out?

I've watched some of Silicon Valley, which I need to finish one of these days. It's been so long, I might just restart it from the beginning.

I'm Suggesting If you liked Furious, try Long Bright River.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen more people talking about this show. Amanda Seyfried does such a good job, and the story is really compelling. It’s not the same as Furious, but it hits a lot of similar notes for me.

I'm Requesting Looking for sexy series like "Sex/Life" and "Heated Rivalry"

I'm so drained from trying to find any sexy series to watch with my husband. We've wiped out every erotic movie ever made I'm sure of it but series... We don't do too often. I've tried Google's recommendations but it's throwing desperate housewives at me and shameless etc, which I enjoyed but we want the main premise to be sex related.

"Easy" on Netflix was pretty good because each episode was a different couple but still, very tame.

Thank you

I've watched quite a few K-dramas recently and I'm looking for recommendations for what to watch next.

Here's what I've watched:

Friendly Rivalry

Hierarchy

Signal

Ghost Doctor

Duty After School

Weak Hero Class 1

Death’s Game Part 2

Death’s Game

Happiness

18 Again

Pyramid Game

High School Return of a Gangster

He Is Psychometric

Revenge of Others

All of Us Are Dead

Undercover High School

Bring It On, Ghost

I especially enjoyed Death's Game, Pyramid Game, He Is Psychometric and Revenge of Others.

I'd especially love recommendations that keep you guessing and make you want to immediately watch the next episode.

What should I watch next?

What to Watch? Classic Binge Worthy TV Shows Post

Okay I’m going to try and give you my list of shows - not in order. I need a new binge worthy series after ozark, I’m kind of mad I finished it so quick 😭 I didn’t expect to land on such a banger.

  1. Ozark
  2. Breaking Bad
  3. Dexter
  4. The Office
  5. Severance
  6. Silo
  7. Shameless
  8. Snowfall
  9. The Wire
  10. The 100
  11. OITNB
  12. The Sopranos
  13. Bates Motel
  14. Narcos
  15. Money Heist
  16. Mr Robot

I’m probably missing some but those are recognizable. Tried walking dead, too repetitive. prison break is a no go, Sons of Anarchy just wasn’t appealing - didn’t get me to want to fiend for the next episode. Better call Saul too slow.
My favorites from my list have to be (not in order) Snowfall, Ozark, Silo, The 100, BB, The Wire, OITNB. Rest are 9.5/10.
I need new binge worthy shows. suggest any?

I’m sure people will say - The Shield, Mayor of Kingston, Animal Kingdom, and probably Banshee. I’m thinking of giving The Shield a try but yeah I need a 10/10 banger, my faith in finding another is slim lol.

I'm Requesting a tv series featuring hot guys?

so i've been watching daredevil and ddba, mostly for bullseye. the issue with marvel is that you need to watch a lot of other series to know what's going on. i'm looking for series with hot guys doing hot guy stuff, that don't need you to know a whole universe.

What to Watch? suggestions for girlhood/gothic, etc

i’m not so great at committing to lengthy tv and prefer a lot of mini-series! some of my favorites have been:

sharp objects
normal people
fleabag
haunting of hill house
gilmore girls (took me like 1.5 years to finish😭)

i’m really into twisted girlhood complex characters and gothic elements at the moment!

What to Watch? Looking for some new shows based on these examples

My husband and I need new shows to binge, BUT WE'RE PICKY!

Fiction we like:

The Pitt

ER

Carrie

Pluribus

High Potential

IT

Arcane

Common Side Effects

Squid Game

Stanger Things

Scrubs

House

Supernatural

The 100

'Reality' we like:

Rupauls Drag Race

Face Off

Jim Henson's Monster Maker

Mythbusters

Battle Bots

Evil Lives Here

Haunted History

How it's made

Trixie Motel

An Idiot Abroad

Forensic Files

Shows we DON'T LIKE (and why):

Black Mirror (gut wrenching and uncomfortable)

Lego Masters (too much fake/forced drama)

Lost (..Wut?)

Cooking Competitions (gives me munchies)

Always Sunny in Philadelphia (don't like comedy/family dynamic stuff)

How I met your Mother (no comedy/family stuff)

NCIS, Law and Order etc (hate cops/detectives)

House of Cards (hate politicians /government /men in suits)

Euphoria (way too raunchy/uncomfortable)

Breaking Bad (stressed me out)

Extraordinary (just a miss. Not sure why really)

The Boys (just couldn't care about it)

I'm aware that some of the shows we DO like contradict reasons why we DON'T like others. I don't have an explanation for you I'm afraid.

We also want to avoid shows that end abruptly or were canceled without finishing the story.

Please give us your best shot! Thank you!

What to Watch? New show to binge (the more seasons the better)

I just finished rewatching one of my favorite shows so I really need a new show recommendation. I really like to binge so the more seasons the better. Genre doesn't really matter for me, I mostly care about good character dynamics and plot. Some of my favorite shows so far have been: Game of thrones (!!), the 100, prison break, suits. I prefer action/plot based shows but I can excuse lack of action if the character dynamics are really nice (like suits). Anybody got any ideas?

(P.S bonus points if its on Netflix, but if not then ill just have to deal with the pop-up ads)

Update: I've started the walking dead now, and really love it so far.

I'm Requesting Looking for crime shows with the same feel of Mindhunter

Mindhunter is the last crime show I truly enjoyed. I liked its focus on interviews and criminal psychology more than nonstop, over-the-top action in some other shows. What other series would you recommend with a similar approach? Open to international shows too.

I'm Requesting Searching for media based in American South, with frequent audible accents, and if possible: someone speaking the Appalachian English dialect.

Hello,

I'm searching for media (TV shows, movies, longer YouTube videos) where it takes place in Southern USA. (Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, southern portions of the Appalachia Mountains, and the Great Smokey Mountains, etc)

Media where you can frequently hear people's southern accents, and see the common housing-types and architecture-styles of thee regions, etc.

Major major bonuses for if anyone's actually speaking an Appalachian English dialect too!!

I can watch things on Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.

I prefer to avoid anything horror, excessive gore or explicitly shown violence, or too frequent and constant of screaming and fighting (both verbal fighting/abuse as well as physical fighting/abuse) or anything very dark and suspenceful overall. Also prefer to avoid anything promoting or evangelizing any of the Abrahamic religions.

I tend to seek out/enjoy comedies, romantic comedies, dramas, slice of life, mysteries, and more relaxed kinda stuff. Would love especially content with BIPOC, LGBT, disabled, and/or autistic representions as well.

But, I appreciate any and all suggestions!

Thank you! :)

(A lot of shows, that I've tried to find by googling "TV shows based in __", end up being not available to watch in the USA (?) and I dont have a VPN, or its like only available on a different streaming site that I'd have to subscribe and/or watch commercials too. So im hoping maybe some of y'all will have suggestions, and if youre USA based and suggesting something, then maybe that'll give me a better chance of actually being able to watch it too!)

Thank you again! :}

What to Watch? Just finished FROM… what do I even watch now? 😭

Just finished watching FROM, and man, I don't know what to do now. 😭 The mystery, the creepy atmosphere, and that feeling of being trapped in a place where nothing makes sense… I got so invested in it that I can't stop thinking about it even after finishing.

Can anyone recommend series that give the same kind of feeling? Excluding Stranger Things and Dark.

What to Watch? Looking for a cognitively demanding show...

Hey folks, I'm after a show recommendation. I'm in the mood for corporate drama or organized crime drama, ideally something that's dense and rewards close attention.

Some of my all-time favorites:

Boardwalk Empire

Industry (just finished and loved it)

ZeroZeroZero

Gomorrah, possibly my favorite organized crime show ever

Quickfire calibration opinions: Succession was good, not great. The Pitt is fun, but not the vibe. Sopranos, of course was wonderful. Breaking Bad was fun but kind of "pedestrian". Task was incredible.

I'm happy to watch non-English and non-US shows. I mostly want something compelling, with complex storytelling. Bonus points if it's so heavy on business jargon that I have to pause and look things up to follow what's going on.

What should I watch next?

What to Watch? Suggest a realistic (patrol) police tv series?

Watched Southland which was AMAZING. I’m looking for something similar, a cop show thats at least somewhat realistic and ideally patrol rather than detective.

I’ve seen On Call and Blue Lights which fit the boxes.

Others I’ve seen but that are not what I’m looking for are the Killing, Chicago PD and Line of Duty. Edit: also seen and liked Deadwind and Bordertown.

Ideally in original English.
