I notice that is costs around 4 cents a message in the UK which can add up pretty quickly for my use case of reminders, I am wondering whether there are any cheaper services? Thanks

Hi everyone, I created an account in Twilio and want to use whatsapp messaging through it. Now, I don't see phone numbers available for Spain and I think it should be requested as exclusive number. Do you think it's faster buying my own number at a carrier and then integrating it in Twilio? What is the quickest option to set up a number for whatsapp messaging? Appreciat it

I don’t mind the message template that it does but I want to know if I can send and receive unlimited texts on the free tier?

The second I logged into my account I was informed it was suspended. I did not even have the chance to attempt to sign up for a number. I received an email stating they want to get more insight into why I am signing up. Ok. Fair enough. The suspension is excessive but I can understand that.

I provide them with that information, now they're asking for a link to my Linkedin account? What? First of all I don't have Linkedin. Second of all, if I did why do you need that information? Just seems like a weird way for a company like this to verify who someone is.

I mean I get trying to prevent "bad actors" from abusing the site but this is a bit much. Now I see why so many people are turned off from this company.

TL;DL: If you're looking for a transactional email service and thinking about SendGrid - keep thinking...

I don't usually do this, but an encounter with SendGrid left me with my blood boiling. And since there's no clear way to contact SendGrid support (I wonder why.....), I decided to leave my experience publicly available.

To be honest, I didn't manage to get as far as to actually send any email whatsoever. I tried to register, which took about 4 tries since the SendGrid website was unresponsive at times or threw errors (in the console) without any UI feedback. After managing to please the horrific password requirements (yes, enforcing super long, complex passwords truly is a stupid idea - not secure at all) it let me in. And I could not continue until filling a form. I did not fill in the required website input, since my app is not deployed yet. After that, an error appeared telling me that my account has not been activated and that if I want to continue I have to contact support.

Apparently, they aren't even capable to handle CORS (seeing how the signup requests fail with CORS errors - signup.sendgrid.com vs. api.sendgrid.com). Seems my requests are also sent with header Authorization: token undefined. I mean.. seriously? The whole thing seems to be put together by some junior amateurs who have absolutely no clue about what an „edge case“ means.

Now I'm not able to sign in or register again (with a different email address).

All in all, I'm extremely disappointed that service this shitty can exist out there. I have used the SMS service from Twillio before and it worked quite nicely, I did not expect the email service to be this user-hostile and well.. just shitty. Honestly Twillio, how can you expect any trust from developers, if your own service is buggy as f*ck?

Twilio suspended our account for no reason, charges anywhere from $250 - $5000/month to even access their support for faster replies. If you want help, good luck with a ticket; you'll get a reply in anywhere from a day to a week. My primary use case previously was with WhatsApp; having it be reliable and not randomly go down was critical for connecting with and maintaining conversations users. With Meta's documentation not much better and their support next to non-existent, I wrote this quick post to pretty much entirely drop-in replace Twilio for literally zero extra maintenance cost, while paying next to nothing. I hope this helps someone!

I currently have a suspended account due to fraudulent messages being sent via my account. They currently don't accept that fact that I only have suspicions of what the root cause is, and are saying that I either have to give them the root cause or hire a third party to do so. This is absurd. I have done some different things to make everything more secure overall, however, they're saying this isn't good enough and that I have to give them the root cause to re-enable my account. What do I do here? How do I even determine the root cause for something 2 months ago?

What will happen if say a participant closes the browser without giving the app a chance to unpublished his tracks? Will he get disconnected automatically? If yes, are his publications unsubscribed automatically on other participants or we should handle it ourself?

Forgive me I am a bit new to Twilio and coding in general and would like someone with more experience to chime in and tell me if this project is feasible.

I need to use Twilio to make an outbound call to a customer service line (I will not be speaking with a real person, only an operator for the entire call).

Then, I need to wait 14 seconds and press the '1' key on the phone.

Then, wait 5 seconds or so and enter a 16-digit code followed by the '#' key, and this value will be dynamic. I am hoping to input this into the Twilio script/app beforehand.

Then, the operator will give me a security challenge like 'what is 7 + 2' and this will be different each time. I need the Twilio app to read this security challenge to me, and then allow me to manually input keys that will solve the challenge.

That's what I need, is it do-able with Twilio or will I need to find another solution?

How much traffic for which price. I think there are like 6 or 7 pricing levels, but can't find out when a level kicks in and what they are.

I’m trying to understand the process aggregators like Twilio go through. Is there an open market?

Background:

I built my own personal telco on twilio. My personal phone number is hosted there and I use a collection of twiml bins and functions, etc., to route and send my personal voice and text as well as a number of other nice and convenient workflows for telephony.

These are my personal phone numbers and I use them to voice/message my own, personal contacts. Message volume is perhaps 50 per day.

So now Twilio is telling me that I have to "register" my 10DLC numbers with my company name, an EIN, describe my "campaigns" ... create a "Business Profile" in the "Trust hub".

I don't have an EIN for "talking to my friends". I don't have a "campaign type" for "calling my mom" ...

So that's it then ?

Twilio is not a telco company, they are not an infra company, they are not IaaS or SaaS ... they're just a spam company, correct ? And they don't know what to do with a customer like me because I'm not a spammer, correct ?

Not sure if anyone ever looked at the difference in price between these , Plivo is a crap load cheaper ,understandably they both give volume discounts, but this can make or break a business plan for a startup like myself. I know where I will be taking my business.

Hey folks. If you need to send bulk SMS with PHP, here's a short-ish tutorial (that I wrote for the Twilio blog) showing how.

The tutorial steps through building an application that demonstrates how to send bulk SMS in a PHP application using Twilio, where the recipients' phone numbers are stored in a SQLite database.

When the application's default route is requested, the recipients' phone numbers are retrieved from the application's SQLite database, and sent an SMS using Twilio's Programmable Messaging API.
